Golf Tips of the Day-Proper address for putting

Golf Tips of the Day-Proper address for putting

Article by mygolfwholesale@gmail.com

I know everyone has different styles for different putters. I’m currently gaming a Scotty Cameron SS Newport 2 MS. It has the 45* toe hang compared to my balanced Yes!Tracy.

I know that on putting, you have to hit the ball slightly on the up swing to prevent skipping the ball. so normally what I do is:

1. Set up the ball, Titleist Pro V1x Ball at http://www.mygolfwholesale.com/blog/goods-842-Titleist+Pro+V1x+Ball.html , about 1 inch from the club face 2. deloft the club a little bit by putting my hands slightly infront of the club head.

Just checking what you guys think or if my method is correct or not on address.

1.These are contradicting statements. One is true, and the other is not. The skipping you refer too is caused by the the loft of the club, and hitting on the upswing. If you hit on the upswing, you are adding loft to the club.

I am not saying your method is wrong because there is no right or wrong way to putting, just your analogy of what you think is happening.

IMHO there are three key factors to all good putters, such as Odyssey White Ice Mini T Putter, Odyssey White Ice #1 Putter and Ping iWi Craz-E Putter at http://www.mygolfwholesale.com/blog/goods-920-Ping+iWi+Craz-E+Putter+.html .

*Their stance is such that their eyes are directly over the ball so they can see straight down the line and eliminate the optical illusion. *Hands are pressed forward to deloft the club face. *Swing is with shoulders causing a pendulum motion with firm wrist to eliminate hitting with the hands.

2. It is sooo right. Take your putter inside and align it flush against the wall and make strokes. This will feel totally bizarre and if it was a sledge hammer your wife would be really hot. You can’t help but feel a difference from your action on the putting green. This is the alignment you should use on the course. Practice this drill until it feels normal. Pay very close attention to the routing of your trailing hand and arm while you are putting along the wall. Be sure your ball position is center or forward. A tile floor is the best place to do this to establish ball position; but, in a pinch anything will do.

When Seeking To Improve Your Golf Swing, Don’t Neglect The Set Up

When Seeking To Improve Your Golf Swing, Don’t Neglect The Set Up

Article by Stan Thomas

When you’re looking to improve your golf swing, don’t forget the basic premise of your set up. Jack Nicklaus has said many times that there is nothing more important in the game of golf than this.

Nicklaus: “If you set up correctly, there’s a good chance you’ll hit a reasonable shot, even if you make a mediocre swing. If you set up to the ball poorly, you’ll hit a lousy shot even if you make the greatest swing ever.” He went on to say that the set up is eighty per cent of the game of golf, and I concur.

When considering your set up, keep the following in mind: body alignment, the position of the head, your general stance, the placement of the ball between your feet and the distance the golf ball is from your body, and aim of the clubface itself.

It is easy to be distracted with the mechanics of your golf swing, but if you are to improve at playing golf, your set up is going to demand your constant attention. You’ll want to pay particular attention to the alignment of your body and the aim of your clubface.

How can you ever hope to hit a target if you don’t aim properly? How can you expect your body to perform the task of hitting a golf ball to a particular target if your mind is not focused and attentive to the target?

Golfers of all types could save themselves a lot of anguish and strokes by mastering the set up. But for many the set up seems too obvious of a task to cause concern. This is a big mistake.

The truth is that your golf swing begins before you begin to draw your club into the backswing. The golf swing actually begins at set up.

When addressing the golf ball, do the following:

· Make sure the clubface it square to the ball.

· Make sure your hands are comfortable and correctly gripping the club.

· Position your body properly over the ball.

It should be in that order. If you square the clubface first, it should make your stance follow properly and allow for a more exact aim.

To do this take the club in your right hand (if you are right-handed) and set the bottom of the edge of the club face perpendicular to the aim of your target. This should set your aim in direct contact with your goal.

Want to Know More About Long Putters?

Want to Know More About Long Putters?

Article by Paul Hobart

If you are looking for an opportunity to choose from some of the best putters that is out there in the market you should check out one of the sales that display putters. The range, style and size found here include everything that one needs for in a putter. In fact with better variety of greens the short putters are out; most people are opting for the long putters nowadays.

The long putters are better than the shorter ones mainly because they help to control wrist movement by concentrating the force on the stomach or the chest. These long ones are provided with what is known as a split grip for better support. Therefore, the wrist does not interfere with the swings. There are three main kinds of putters normally found these days:

* Regular- These are around 36 inches long

* Long- The length of this variety ranges between 38 to 45 inches

* Extra Long- These are of course the longest at 52 inches

Long putters focus the grip and the swing on a single central point so that it relieves the fine motor muscles of the hand and prevents it from being de emphasized. It is best to indulge in trial sessions with these putters on the green to get the hang of it. These putters allow one to swing the shoulders freely like a pendulum which is prevented by short putters which only allow average quality handsy strokes.

The correct way to take grip of a long putter is to use your left hand to control the grip and your right hand to hold the handle as you normally would with any other club. Ideally the putter height should be till the chest pocket of your golf t shirt while you are standing at a slightly bent posture. You should also go ahead with any other kind of grip that you are comfortable with, with the putter. A lot of people hold it like they would hold a pencil.

There are two ways of pressurizing the head of the putter:

* You can either pull or push you right arm holding the handle of the club at all times while doing this in order to strike the ball.

* You can also use your shoulder in a rocking motion to do the same.

The idea is to keep the torso of your body unmoving so that it can act as a pivot for your swing. Using the shoulders to rock the motion and hit the ball keeps the right hand rigid. Both techniques ultimately provide the same result: to keep the upper body unmoving and using the limbs or the shoulders for the swing.

You can use the long putters instead of the short ones so that the wrist movement is restricted to the minimum. Extra long putters also serve the same purpose; both using a particular center point of the sternum or the stomach. However, one needs to practice regularly in order to get a hang of this new technique of taking a shot. Without practice it is quite a task to get rid of one’s golf handicap.

Memorial Lessons From Tiger

Memorial Lessons From Tiger

Article by Charlie G Wallace

What a stunning performance from Tiger Woods at the Memorial event in Ohio on Sunday. Four strokes off the lead at the start of the final day, Tiger blazed his way to the top of the leaderboard and then held off challenges from both Jim Furyk and Jonathon Byrd to win his fourth Memorial title.

I watched the closing holes from about the 14th and saw Tiger taking out the opposition with a birdie on the 18th hole after a brilliant approach shot. He is definitely a man for the big occasion and big events and he instinctively knows when, and how to apply pressure on his opponents.

I know there are some who don’t like Tiger, but I am a big fan. We are lucky enough to be witnessing one of the best golfers ever in Tiger and one just has to admire the way he plays the game.

What can we learn from Tiger’s performance that could be useful to our games as golf beginners or seasoned players?

There are three things that stand out for me about Tiger on Sunday;

1. His desire to win2. His ability to get the job done, and3. His phenomenal success rate off the tee in the final round.

Just focussing on the third of these, Tiger hit the fairways on every occasion he was required to. 100% fairways in regulation and the TV commentators (which included Nick Faldo) rated his final round as one of his best ever.

If you’re anything like me, consistency off the tee is more of an aspiration than a reality. I do sometimes get it right and sometimes my drives are OK, but I’ve a tendency to hook and slice and I usually have some of each in the course of my rounds.

I always have a smile when I see the pros spraying their drives left or right. It reassures me that even the best can do it, and of course, Tiger is no stranger to these errors. In recent times he has been guilty of them quite often.

Some pundits reckon that he attempts to hit the driver a lot harder in tour events than he does in practice. He doesn’t take his practice drives to the course when he plays in competitions. By all accounts, he did on Sunday. He wasn’t thrashing the drives and consequently he ended up on the fairway every time he needed to.

This tells us two things;

1. That it is important to identify and recognise important elements of our games that need correcting;driving, approach shots, pitching, chipping or putting and doing something about them, and

2. That controlled drives off the tee landing on the fairway will (should) produce a better round of golf and lower scores. [The corollary of this, of course, is that the controlled shots practiced on the range are the ones we should use on the course. There is no point in learning and practicing to do something and then doing something else when you take your game public.]

After my game at the weekend I know that my putting let me down, and if I had landed on the fairway more frequently, I could have shaved 5 to 7 shots off my score. Something to look forward to next time, hey? There’s always something that keeps us coming back.

Tips For Picking The Right Golf Driver For Your Game

Tips For Picking The Right Golf Driver For Your Game

Article by Niyaz Kazi

One of the most frustrating aspects of golf is the idea that you can shave off a few unneeded strokes, but you don’t know how. Sometimes, you can take a look at your driver; the driver is crucial in setting up each hole. Here are some tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.

1.The club head – The best club head size for your game is determined in your decision in the balance between control and the size of the “sweet spot”, which is the area that provides the best hit in a shot. The smaller sizes range from 150 to 155 cubic centimeters and are considered standard; they provide the most control but have a smaller sweet spot. Midsized club heads are about 195 cubic centimeters and are moderate in both control and sweet spot size. Oversized heads are any ones larger than midsized. They give the largest sweet spot, but are harder to control, partly because of the sheer weight.2.The shaft – Choosing a shaft is a two-step process. First, you must decide between graphite and steel shafts. Then, you must choose a flex level. The decision between materials relies on your experience and end goals. Steel shafts are strong, durable, and offer control; however, you must be strong in order to produce the same distance that graphite does. Overall, stronger players should use steel shafts if control isn’t quite up to par. Graphite shafts are versatile but expensive. They are less durable and offer less control, but require less strength.

Flex, as the name implies, is the flexibility of the shaft. There are five basic levels of flex in golf: L for Ladies, A for Seniors, Regular, Stiff, and Extra Stiff. Flexible shafts provide more power, which is a great aspect for beginning players as well as those with weaker swings. However, as shafts become less and less flexible, there is more control available. This is why stronger players should drift towards the Stiff and Extra Stiff flex levels; that is, if you have a 90-110 MPH swing, try out the stiffer two levels. Average swings are around 75-90 MPH, and players with those swings should stick with the regular level for now.3.The weight and length – Obviously, the basic characteristics of weight and length should be considered. Basically, lighter clubs give faster swing speeds and farther hits. This translates into a simple concept: Players with stronger swings choose heavier clubs for more control. Lighter drivers work better for those without stronger swings.

The length of the driver is another decision in the balance between control and distance. Drivers with a length of 43 to 44 inches are considered traditional. Drivers 45 to 46 inches long can give a slightly longer distance. Any longer than 46 inches poses the opportunity to have a greatly increased potential for distance as well as a greatly decreased range of control.

Many of the aspects that must be considered depend on your swing and willingness to sacrifice control for other benefits. These are your tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.

LEARN HOW TO PLAY BETTER GOLF-SLASH YOUR GOLF HANDYCAP BY 12 STROKES WITHIN 2 HOURS

Article by mark healy

Over the following page I will take you through my success tips to prevent on course disastersas well as real practical steps to slash your golf handycap

Here is what you do:

OFF THE TEE

Often a well positioned bunker can cause problems. If a hole shapes more to the left, the prefered shot is a draw.If you fade you risk finding sand.So the safe play is to hit a straight driver especially if there are trees on the edges.

THE APPROACH

You must control your approach and if you know how far you have to the pin that will really help. This might sound stupid but any doubts can lead to a tentative swing.Normaly having 100 yards to the middle and play for an extra 5 yards for an uphill slope is about right.

FACING CHALLENGES

Having a game plan that is sensible but a challenege for you is not easy to plan but essential for your own growth game. You need to know where the trouble is on each shot, but please do not get negative about it.Focus on where you want to hit the ball not on where you dont.

JUDGING THE WIND DIRECTION

Most golfers have no idea about calibrating to wind speeds and direction. At tree-lines course like bearwood be very careful of swirly winds. When learning how to play golf a good tip is to look at the weather forecast for the day and know where the wind direction is for that day before you arrive at the course. If your unsure take a look at the tree tops and not what the clouds are doing.

LAG PUTTING

The big tip with this is to hit the green on a par 3.Another good tip someone told me once is the “dustbin lid effect”, thats if you can get the ball within a dustbin lid of the hole from long range, you’ve done very well indeed.Ideally you want to get the ball past the hole and as it goes past you get a read for the putt back.

WEIGHT BALANCE DRILL

If you find that your most persistent miss is a shot thats drifts weakly to the right, there is a very good chance that you are not using your weight correctly. To rectify this let your left foot move towards your right at the top of the backswing. Then as you drive back down towards the ball you let your left foot step back into position.

DRIVE IMPROVEMENT

Often a lot of golfers with a golf handycap find that their swing is not as athletic as it could be which is costing you yardage and flexibility. The solution is to be very flexible, but many older golfers find that they arent able to make the athletic turn due their beliefs and age.One way of drastically improving your flexibility is by stretching before a shot and relax also as it could be tension in your upper and lower arms on swing.

Learning to play golf the right way will give you enormous personal enjoyment in your life and so I have put together a furthur free report at http://www.golf-mastersecrets.com which details:

1)The 3 hidden keys to improve your golf and play like a pro. This informations has never been revealed anywhere else, and these 3 hidden keys are gold to any golfer.

2)The critical factor to consider on your golf swing(Most people get this wrong)

3)The ” down and dirty” on what it takes to create Elite golf game to catapult your game to new heights.

4)You’ll shake your head when you discover the mind blowing secret of the “inside network”.Knowing this alone can quadruple your results.

5)The ” Visual shock tactic” to stun your competitors and steal their game from under their noses. This is shocking.

6)A 9 step advanced power plan to decimate and dominate any golf course. And much more…….

Its all in a free report at http://www.golf-mastersecrets.com

How to Chip in Golf

How to Chip in Golf

Article by Jamie Faidley

One of the most important things to remember if you want to learn how to chip better is just how important it is to have clean, consistent contact. You will need to strike the ball on the way down, avoiding hitting the ground before you hit the ball. Repeating clean contact is not easy, but once you can do it you will quickly find it much easier to control the distance of your chips. Once you learn that distance control you will be able to putt from closer distances, cutting strokes off of your game.

Ball Alignment

While you are swinging a golf club, the middle of your center of gravity is where the lowest point typically falls. Because you want to avoid hitting the ground before you strike the ball, you should move the ball just behind center at address. For beginners, use two inches behind your center, then you can adjust as you become more comfortable. Just don’t forget to keep this ball location consistent as moving it will change the angle of your club impact and you will find it harder to consistently strike the ball cleanly.

Hand Position

You will need to work on consistent hand position each time you chip. Your hands should be in the same place with each chip you make. You will want to position your hands in front of the ball. Draw a straight line from the point where your right knuckle sticks out the farthest. That line typically falls just in front of your ball and is a good reference point to use for your hand positioning.

Weight Balance

Your weight should be distributed about 40 percent-60 percent with more of your weight on your front foot. This is going to help cut down on hitting fat shots by making the lower point of the swing more toward your front foot. Getting this balance down will help you to your goal of hitting clean chip shots more consistently.

Club Alignment

Make an extra effort to keep your club face squared to your target. While playing the ball back in your stance your club face may float open, which requires that extra bit of focus for chipping.

This setup should help you make more up and downs from just beyond the green. Be sure you check my other golf chipping tips if you are looking for additional assistance with improving your chip shots.

How to Buy the Right Golf Equipment

How to Buy the Right Golf Equipment

Article by melody

Veteran golf equipment writer Scott Kramer has published a new e-book, How to Buy the Right Golf Equipment. The easy-reading book helps simplify the process of buying clubs, shafts, balls, bags and shoes – as well as buying equipment for other people, including your kids. The following excerpts are the chapters on buying drivers and putters (scroll down).PuttersPut more thought into buying a new putter than any other club. Why’s that? Because you take more strokes per round with it than any other club in your bag, and there are so many intricacies to putters that choosing the right one will help you sink more putts. The wrong one will actually hurt you often. And when you consider that most golfers mis-hit the ball toward the toe of the putter, you quickly realize that the wrong type of putter will only exaggerate your misses. What to do?

First, pay attention to the feel of a potential new putter. You have to pick it up and make sure it feels comfortable in your hands. Then consider its looks – any distractions and you won’t be able to focus on the stroke. If it feels good and looks good to you, then you’re much more likely to put a good stroke on the ball with it. But you generally cannot base your choice on feel alone.Strongly consider getting fitted for your putter, to find one suited to your physique, stance, stroke and preference. A fitter will find your proper length, lie, loft, grip, offset and head style. Regarding length, if you need to set your hands lower on the grip, to get closer to the ball so that your eyes are directly over the ball, then you probably need a shorter putter. Putter manufacturers differ in how they measure the shaft. Some calculate it from the butt end to the heel of the sole, others from the butt end to the center sole of the putter. So one company’s 34-inch model may be another’s 35. Experts claim that most golfers use a putter that’s too long for their stroke. Tell-tale signs that your putter shaft’s too long: At address, you stand farther away from the ball and your hands will tend to be too close to your body, and thus you’ll inadvertently raise the toe of the putter and exaggerate the arc of your stroke. Also, the butt end may poke at your gut. Finally, the putter’s head will feel heavier on a longer shaft. If the shaft is too short, you’ll stand too close to the ball and will raise the heel and.

Then there’s loft to consider. When a ball’s sitting on a green, it’s actually resting in a slight depression in the grass. The putter’s loft – traditionally four degrees – helps lift the ball from that depression. If it lifts the ball too much, it imparts backspin. Not enough lift and it forces the ball to skim the depression’s edge, thus causing it to skip. A solid putting stroke naturally closes the face as it strikes the ball. At impact, the ideal loft is bet, because most putter manufacturers derive the ideal loft in their putters. Dynamic loft – the putter’s loft at the point of impact – is the most important loft. But you need high-speed analysis within a fitting session, to know what yours is. In fact, all of these factors add up to justify why a fitting session will save you a lot of heartache on the greens later on. Armed with the right data, you can buy a putter perfectly tailored to your natural putting stroke. A fitting session can reveal exactly what putter you need and why. Knowing if you’re better off with a blade or a mallet partly depends on your stroke path. If you take an open – or inside – backstroke, square it at impact, then proceed with an inside follow-through, you’re probably best off playing a heel-shafted, toe-weighted blade putter. That’s because as you stroke, the heel moves through the impact area faster than the rest of the clubface. But the toe weight helps the rest of the head rotate through the impact zone, squaring it at impact, and imparting a straighter ball roll. If you were to take that same stroke with a mallet, its built-in face balancing will prevent you from closing the toe by impact, meaning you’ll push the putt to the right (assuming you’re right-handed). After awhile, you might even overcompensate for the push and begin to pull your putts.

Learn To Relax Like Tiger

Learn To Relax Like Tiger

Learn to relax like Tiger

If there is one period in Woods’ career that shows his true dominance, it has to start with his victory at the Memorial Tournament in June 1999 when Woods went on to record one of the greatest sustained periods of excellence in men’s golf history as he went on to capture 17 PGA Tour titles in the two calendar years that followed. Overall, he won 32 PGA championships in the next five calendar years, an amazing feet that has not been in professional golf in decades.

Tiger Woods turned up the heat on the back nine yesterday to build a commanding lead of four strokes going into the weekend of the US PGA Championship at Hazeltine – the year’s final major. At seven under par, we haven’t seen him this relaxed, in control and so full of confidence for some time. His game looks better than ever.

We have seen over the career of Woods that his game can be so complete that he can win events, even majors, when he is not playing well. This was the case just three weeks ago when he won the Buick Invitational and last week he looked vulnerable off the tee until the weekend. Two 65s on Saturday and Sunday, another win, and a dominating first two rounds this week and his game looks back in tip top shape.

We all know that a just small change in our swings, can feel like a massive upheaval, even though it may not be noticeable to the untrained eye. However, I would suggest that Tiger’s swing has changed enough in two weeks that anyone could see the difference.

If you’ve watched him closely, as I have over the years, you will have seen him get out of position and hit the ball incredibly wide with a driver, both left and right. And you must have seen him finish his swing with only one hand on the club and spinning on his feet? But his game over the last two days has been measured and controlled. This is something that he searches for all the time and you may wonder how it can come and go so quickly for even the best player in the world?

The difference for him can be something as small as the ball position being one-quarter of an inch too far forward or back in his stance or his hands just a tad ahead or behind the ball at impact.

Mistakes like these will have a knock on effect and cause a player to have to ‘work the club’ through impact with their hands to compensate. As a result the timing can get out of sync and inconsistency becomes the result.

So far this week Tiger Woods has been swinging fantastically. The overall look to his swing is the same but over the weekend watch two things from which you can learn and perhaps introduce into your own game.

*Notice the pace of his take-away from the ball and his transition from backswing to downswing.

*Another indication is the ease of the finish of his swing. His arms and body just arrive at the end together and look controlled.

Once a player feels that his game is where he wants it, it’s known on the circuit as ‘ in the slot,’ and real confidence will follow and for a Tour pro that allows him to relax and execute his swing with predictable and reliable results. Grip pressure and tension in the hands is no longer there and a player can control distance, trajectory and spin because he’s relaxed. That relaxed grip pressure even increases the distance we can the ball.

To test this, try this little experiment from the tee this weekend. Throw two balls as far down the fairway as you can – hold one tightly and one softly and see which one goes further! It’s the same when hammering in a nail. See how well the action performs when you hold the golf club lightly as opposed to tightly. This is how effortless power and speed is created.

Tiger is in balance, relaxed and confident and I don’t expect him to release his grip on the trophy, however firmly he’s got one hand on it. But with the quality of field behind him, including Harrington, Fisher, Glover and Singh – we know that golf’s a funny old game and confidence can leave as quickly as it arrives.

Golf Secret – Over The Top Golf Swing

Golf Secret – Over The Top Golf Swing

Article by Andrei Felix

One of the most frustrating strokes that a golfer, whether an amateur or a professional one, could make is an over the top golf swing. This kind of swing would often result in slicing or pull hooking the golf ball. This often results when a golfer has been so eager to hit the ball that they end up having their hands get ahead of their lower body. Here are two steps that could help you remove this frustrating stroke from your repertoire:1. You must keep in mind that your golf swing is a series of events. In this regard, in order to stop you from doing an over the top swing, you should pay attention in doing your backswing correctly. You must try to keep your club low and outside of your hands when starting your backswing. It is also important that you keep your arms and body separated while doing your backswing to be able to hit the ball square and avoid slicing it.2. You must also let gravity help you with your swing. What I mean by this is that when you are able to get to the top of your swing, you should gently shift your hips to the left and let your arms fall down in a natural motion. This will enable you hit the ball without producing it to spin, making your shots straighter and longer. Finally, the only thing left for you to do is to practice these two steps frequently. Repetitive practice helps your body remember the motion making your swing more natural and smooth. As you can see, avoiding an over the top golf swing is not that difficult once you know what causes it and how to correct it. With these two easy steps, you could now play well on the course with longer and straighter shots with every stroke you make.Instantly Access Golf Secret Now!
