Golf Swing Improvement Secrets To Stop The Insanity
Posted by: | CommentsGolf Swing Improvement Secrets To Stop The Insanity
Article by Mike Pedersen, CPT
Golf swing improvement can be elusive for most golfers. I have read many articles and studies on the huge number of golfers quitting the game every year. They are tired of putting in the time, buying equipment, taking lessons, and purchasing every golf training aid on the market only to see no golf swing improvement.
You can’t fault a frustrated golfer who experiences the above and quits. Life is too short to spend 5 hours on a golf course and not enjoy it.
Let’s discuss why this happens!
First off, golf swing improvement should be approached from the inside-out. That means starting with your body. If your body has physical restrictions, you won’t ever be able to make a repeatable golf swing with any power or accuracy. It’s a physical impossibility.
You can try-and-try, but it won’t happen!
You body dictates your golfing ability. Like in any sport, raw talent is hard to come by and is only for a small percent of the athletic community.
Do you feel like you should be a better golfer? How many times have you walked off the course in disgust…knowing you should have played much better? This is a common occurrence and one that can be fixed quickly.
The right approach to golf swing improvement is one that looks at your current golf swing faults and the ‘physical’ reason behind it. I see this all the time. A golfer takes a lesson; the instructor tells the golfer what he needs to do; and the golfer can’t do it!
What a frustrating situation!
For every swing fault, there is an underlying ‘physical’ reason why it keeps happening.
Let me give you one of many examples to substantiate the above statement.
You are a slicer. That means you come “over-the-top” with your upper body. Do you want to know one of the many reasons why this happens?
Here goes!
You have poor core strength and flexibility.
If your body cannot initiate the downswing with the lower body, especially the hips rotating; it is because your core muscles are sending a message to your brain saying, “we can’t do this, so figure out another way (compensation) to get me back to the ball.”
Now the upside to this scenario.
You work on your core rotational strength and flexibility. You don’t hit more balls. You don’t add more swing thoughts to your swing. You don’t do drills at the range til your hands are bleeding. You just improve your core. That’s it!
The result?
You are able to initiate the downswing with your lower body, create and retain stored energy in your core area, and you not only stop your slice, but you add 30 yards to your drives!
That’s golf swing improvement the right way!
Again, this is just one example of a golf swing fault; and the cause and solution to eliminating it forever.
Now golf is fun again!
So when you think of playing better golf; take a new approach to your golf swing improvement.

Picking Golf Clubs With The Right Feel For You
Posted by: | CommentsPicking Golf Clubs With The Right Feel For You
Article by Adekunle Bekky
Buying golf clubs can be an exciting venture, almost like buying your first car or getting your first house mortgage. As with any financial investment, you want to pick something that will be useful for years to come. Therefore your clubs should work perfectly with your swinging style. By picking clubs that are comfortable to use, you can reduce the likelihood of ever having to replace your it. When you go shopping for clubs, you should look for several things that will increase the comfort and quality of your purchase. These are easy things to look for, and by making a small checklist you can avoid wasting your money on something that doesn’t fully satisfy your needs.
First of all, you should pay close attention to the way the golf club feels when you hold it and swing it. Pick it up at the store and give it a few test swings, and maybe even hit a few balls with it if the store will allow you to. The flex of the shaft, the weight of the club, and the length of the club will all combine to create a very unique feel for every single golf club you try, and if you try enough then you are sure to find one that feels ideal. If you begin to notice traits that you prefer, such as a higher flex level in the shaft or a shorter length, then you can choose golf clubs based on these specific features.
The material of the golf club is a very important part of the factor. The material that the shaft is made out of depends on how much flex you want in it. Graphite shafts are usually suggested for beginners, and have a higher level of flexibility. Steel shafts are cheaper and more reliable, but much heavier. Some people prefer to have this weight and momentum as the swing the club, but some can’t get used to it. Again, you will have just have to go the club store and swing the clubs around a bit so as to get used to the feel.
The head of the club will need to be a very strong material. While a graphite shaft is usually a good choice for beginners, it is not a good idea to choose a similar alloy on the head of the golf club. Iron has, and probably always will be, the best choice for the golf club head. Usually iron heads have the perfect amount of weight (though you can get this adjusted) and enough strength to be very long lasting. Even if you usually prefer it to be much lighter, you will probably find that an alloy head causes it to be rather abnormal and almost unusable.
it grips may not seem like much of an important part, but you would be surprised at what an adverse effect an uncomfortable grip can have on your game. Your hands may become sore from gripping it, and you will slowly become less and less comfortable with each swing. Therefore when you are picking out a golf club, you should be very happy with the grip. If you aren’t fully satisfied, you can replace the grip. You can find replacements in some club stores, and most definitely online. Don’t be afraid to customize your clubs in order to make them more pleasant to use.

Mastering The Three Wood
Posted by: | CommentsMastering The Three Wood
Why – because players who hit a lot of greens in regulation tend to have lower golf handicaps. Those who don’t tend to have higher golf handicaps. The 3-wood is a great club for aggressive players. It’s also a great club for senior players who may have lost some flexibility and power over the years, but can still play well.
The 3-wood is the second longest club in your bag, so it can be hard to hit for some. Hitting a crisp 3-wood from a tight lie is especially challenging, as I tell students attending my golf instruction sessions, no matter how good you are.
You can use the 3-wood in man situations. Since it’s shorter than the driver, it’s easier to control, so you can use it off the tee on tight fairways. Using the 3-wood ton the tee may cost you some distance, but it increases your chances of hitting the fairway.
In fact, some players who can’t hit a driver hit a 3-wood off the tee instead. Players also use the 3-wood to chip with when on the fringe, in a fairway bunker if the bunker’s lip is low, and on long par-3s when there’s a head wind. But the 3-wood is used mostly off the deck on par 5s, when you need a good second shot. Another common use of the 3-wood is on long par 4s, where you need a long second shot to reach the green. Hitting a good 3-wood there can put you on the green in two, something neither a long iron nor a hybrid can do.
If you can master the 3-wood off the deck, you can save a lot of strokes. Sweep The Ball From The Fairway Unlike irons, which require a downward blow, the 3-wood (and other fairway woods) need a sweeping motion that strikes the ball as the clubhead moves parallel to the ground.
Below are five keys to hitting the 3-wood:
1. Keep your weight balanced
2. Position the ball opposite your front heel
3. Keep you head and body behind the ball
4. Pull the club through with your lead hand
5. Extend your arms on the follow-through
To hit the 3-wood off the deck, you must take a wide stance similar to that used for a driver. Position the ball opposite your front heel or in some cases, slightly back from this position, and your weight balanced comfortably on the balls of your feet.
Start your swing on a low path that almost skims the grass to replicate the shallow path you want to take on your downswing. Keep your back shoulder level and pull your right hand (left for left-handers) through with your other hand. Above all, stay behind the ball after impact. Brush through the ball and extend your arms toward the target on the follow-through – something a lot of players I find in my golf lessons must work on.
Not Designed For High Shots
The 3-wood is designed to hit a line drive type of shot. But you don’t need to feel that you have to help it get the ball in the air. The 3-woord has more than enough loft to drive the ball forward for distance. If you need to hit something with more loft, use the 5-wood. It provides less distance but more height than the 3-wood.
In the right circumstances, the 5-wood can be just as effective as the 3-wood. The 3-wood is a great club in the right hands. It’s not as versatile as a hybrid, but it’s more versatile than the driver. Don’t be afraid to hit it. Used wisely, it can set you up for short shots into the green on par 5s or serve as the club of choice off the tee. If you’re serious about improving your game, master the 3-wood. It will shave strokes from your scores and your golf handicap.

Tips For Picking The Right Golf Driver For Your Game

Article by Niyaz Kazi
One of the most frustrating aspects of golf is the idea that you can shave off a few unneeded strokes, but you don’t know how. Sometimes, you can take a look at your driver; the driver is crucial in setting up each hole. Here are some tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.
1.The club head – The best club head size for your game is determined in your decision in the balance between control and the size of the “sweet spot”, which is the area that provides the best hit in a shot. The smaller sizes range from 150 to 155 cubic centimeters and are considered standard; they provide the most control but have a smaller sweet spot. Midsized club heads are about 195 cubic centimeters and are moderate in both control and sweet spot size. Oversized heads are any ones larger than midsized. They give the largest sweet spot, but are harder to control, partly because of the sheer weight.2.The shaft – Choosing a shaft is a two-step process. First, you must decide between graphite and steel shafts. Then, you must choose a flex level. The decision between materials relies on your experience and end goals. Steel shafts are strong, durable, and offer control; however, you must be strong in order to produce the same distance that graphite does. Overall, stronger players should use steel shafts if control isn’t quite up to par. Graphite shafts are versatile but expensive. They are less durable and offer less control, but require less strength.
Flex, as the name implies, is the flexibility of the shaft. There are five basic levels of flex in golf: L for Ladies, A for Seniors, Regular, Stiff, and Extra Stiff. Flexible shafts provide more power, which is a great aspect for beginning players as well as those with weaker swings. However, as shafts become less and less flexible, there is more control available. This is why stronger players should drift towards the Stiff and Extra Stiff flex levels; that is, if you have a 90-110 MPH swing, try out the stiffer two levels. Average swings are around 75-90 MPH, and players with those swings should stick with the regular level for now.3.The weight and length – Obviously, the basic characteristics of weight and length should be considered. Basically, lighter clubs give faster swing speeds and farther hits. This translates into a simple concept: Players with stronger swings choose heavier clubs for more control. Lighter drivers work better for those without stronger swings.
The length of the driver is another decision in the balance between control and distance. Drivers with a length of 43 to 44 inches are considered traditional. Drivers 45 to 46 inches long can give a slightly longer distance. Any longer than 46 inches poses the opportunity to have a greatly increased potential for distance as well as a greatly decreased range of control.
Many of the aspects that must be considered depend on your swing and willingness to sacrifice control for other benefits. These are your tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.

While using proper club can and will greatly enhance your game. Some other important points to consider are usually deciding on the best then lie and the right shaft contract. The particular flexibility with the shaft with the golf club is called the particular bend or perhaps bend. If you’re a robust swinger, you’ll have more control along with much less bend. Beginners as well as much less effective swingers are usually best with increased flexibility.
In case you are new to the actual game associated with golf, first thing you need is really a basic set of wholesale golf clubs. A basic collection should include irons, putters, wedges and motorists, as well as though the majority of nongolfers don’t believe it, every sort regarding club is made to increase the speed of the swing and will allow you to proper errors inside your game. Low-handicap golfers must carry at least one fairway wooden plus a new driver and also lower iron, and at least 3 wedges, a begging sand wedge, mud wedge and also the lob pitching wedge or approach wedge. The mid-handicap player within the 11-20 handicap selection must give a 7-wood or possibly a 9-wood thus to their carrier. The fairway hardwoods will provide far better handle and also consistency versus long iron. Mid-handicap golf players should continue with the three as well as 9-irons and also exactly the same wedges advised previously mentioned. Many golfers purchased this particular club in order to replace the actual three-iron. Visit players tend to be even moving over for this club. Hybrids to check out range from the Taylormade Save Middle of the (that remains in order to command industry and is found in much more carriers on the tour as compared to every other cross), the Nike CPR, as well as the Dan Hogan CFT. The crossbreed is a club which mementos the actual player who is producing good clubhead speed, yet needs to raise long-iron trajectory. The low middle regarding gravity with this golf club creates higher pictures while a quick the whole length can boost control and accuracy.

The Longest Hitting Drivers in Golf
Posted by: | CommentsThe Longest Hitting Drivers in Golf
What is the longest hitting driver in golf? All the major golf manufacturers claim they make the longest hitting driver. The Internet is filled with all sorts of ads about finding the driver with the most distance off the tee. Even your local paper golfing magazine has features about special products that guarantee you can drive like a champion. So, what’s the great secret?
The answer may already be in your bag or as close as your golf professional or online Internet
golfing store. But, before dashing off to purchase that magical driver, lets look at what really makes drives go
long and straight.
A longer club shaft
Conventional wisdom suggests that a driver with a loner shaft will hit a golf ball farther
than a shorter shafted golf driver.
The pun is intended. The bad news is that not everyone can hit a long shaft driver and the results can often be disappointing. Tests have shown that if a golf ball is mis-hit by as little as ½ inch, driving distance can be reduced by as much as 20 yards. The more you miss the sweet spot, the shorter the drives. And we’re talking about distance, not accuracy. Unless you are a low handicap golfer, by itself, a longer shaft could, in fact, hurt your distance off the tee.
Lighter gold club
It certainly helps, but it depends where the weight is removed. The theory is that the lighter the club, the faster the swing. The faster you swing your driver, the farther the golf ball flies down the fairway. Since the shaft has the most weight, that is the best place to remove club weight in order to speed up the swing. Here is where shaft flexibility enters the picture. If the driver’s shaft is too stiff, a lighter shaft weight may cause your shot to be short and a bit to the right. If you want to lighten the shaft, make sure shaft flexibility is part of your calculations.
More loft
Conventional wisdom also weighs in on loft. Simply put, the slower your swing speed, the higher the required trajectory necessary to keep the ball in the air. Check this out by comparing the distance with a three wood, versus the driver. If they are about the same, a common occurrence, consider a driver with a little more loft with the CG (center of gravity) slightly back from the club face.
Clubhead Design
This is where modern technology and strong clubhead design can really help the average golfer and is the place where technology has really helped long hitting drivers. Most of the above techniques work great if the ball is struck directly on the sweet spot. Unfortunately, only PGA golfers do that almost every time. Perimeter weighted clubs like the Callaway Big Bertha and drivers from Ping (who pioneered the technology), King Cobra and TaylorMade have become extremely popular driving companions for golfers, worldwide.
The Grip
The grip is one of the most overlooked aspects when choosing a driver, but one of the most important. This is the connection for you to the club and if everything isn’t comfortable and natural, your swing, and the resulting distance off the tee, hasn’t a chance.
The size of the grip is totally dependent on the size of your hands. The bigger the hands, the thicker the grip. If the grip is uncomfortable or irritates your hands, change it quickly. This is where totally comfortable is really good.
Believe it or not, grip weight is also a distance factor. A light grip increases the relative weight of the club head. This is good for players with good strong swings. A heavier grip decreases the relative weight of the clubhead and makes it feel lighter. This helps the golfer with a slower swing.
There are many answers to the question of what is the longest hitting driver in golf. Almost as many as there are golfers. Modern technology can help you find the best driver for your game. It also wouldn’t hurt to work on your swing so you can take advantage of the advanced weight and flexibility features on the big name clubs. Match your driver to your skills and play within yourself. That old sports saw really fits finding the longest hitting golf driver.
