Article by Netty B Handel
If you ever wanted to know how to choose your golf clubs but thought it was impossible, well you are about to get a surprise. After reading this article you will have some guidelines to use and be ready to choose your clubs wisely.
When hitting balls into each hole on a golf course, golfers need to use the fewest strokes possible to emerge as a winner. A top quality set of golf clubs is just as equally important as a player’s skill or ability in becoming successful in this sport. The player who has both these factors will have greater chances of winning a game.
Each golf club is made up of a clubhead and a shaft with grip. Long clubs are used when driving balls at a long distance and short clubs are used for driving balls at a short distance. In an official game, players are only allowed to have fourteen clubs in their bags. Each club in a player’s bag should have been manufactured in accordance with the strict standards outlined in the rules.
During a game, golfers can use any type of club that they deem appropriate for each shot. They are in no way restricted by rules as to what clubs to use per hole. A good quality club coupled with a good hitting technique would definitely give players greater chances of winning.
If you are new to the world of golf, buying a set of clubs can be quite confusing because of the myriad of choices out in the market. Here are some ways to help make this task easier for you:
Get Information
Magazines or golf websites have reviews or articles that will provide comprehensive information on several golf club brands. Reading these reviews or articles will give you an idea on the quality or prices of existing golf clubs in the market. These reviews or articles are often written by experts in golf equipment so you are sure to get credible advice.
Opinions Matter
Ask some of your friends who have already been playing golf as to which brands are the best. They will surely have opinions that will definitely be helpful for you.
Look for demo days
Golf club manufacturers and distributors regularly hold demo days to showcase their products. These companies usually let you inspect their golf clubs allowing you to see advantages and disadvantages of each brand.
Fellow Golfers
Try to find out what other golfers on the course are using by taking a peek inside their bags as they pass you by. But if you’re friendly enough, you can approach them and introduce yourself and ask them what brands they prefer.

Mastering the Basics of the Golf Swing
Posted by: | CommentsMastering the Basics of the Golf Swing
Article by Howard Brule
You are an aspiring golfer who isn’t scoring the way you want. Welcome to the world of golf because golf is a difficult game to excel at. Maybe you can play the game okay, but just aren’t performing the way you know you can. Is it a swing problem that is the source of your problems? Here are a few suggestions to help you see some golf swing improvement.
The place to start, no matter if you are a scratch golfer or high handicapper is with a dedicated practice routine. Set up a routine that focuses on your troublesome areas as well as key in on the other critical aspects of your golf swing.
You can arrange for Golf lessons from a golf professional, but before you take that route there are some simple things you can try on your own to improve your basic swing. Golf theory may be worth studying but it is important to have at least the basics of a swing before spending hard earned dollars on instruction.
A helpful way to think of improving your swing is to think of it as giving your swing the g-a-s, as in grip, alignment and stance. The first step toward golf swing improvement is taking a close look at your grip. Your hands should come together naturally and comfortably on the club. If you swing right handed, hooking the pinky finger of your right hand over the index finger of your left is a great way to start. Hold the shaft of the club lightly without tension. There is no need to hold the club tightly in your hands to put a good hit on the ball.
Many players who have difficulty striking the ball with power find their alignment is wrong. You should be aiming where you want the ball to go with your shoulders parallel to the intended line of flight. Most inexperienced golfers take a “closed” stance with their body and shoulders aimed out to the right (for right handers.) You can overcome this by simply shifting your body slightly to a more “open” position when you take your stance. This will help you avoid swinging “across” the ball – the primary source of the slice.
Golf swing improvement will occur naturally if you are aiming correctly and have a good athletic stance. Your knees should be bent slightly, your spine angled forward but fairly straight, and your rear end in something of a sitting position. Don’t be tense. You should be relaxed when you swing a golf club.
Now, before you swing, step back from your ball and take a practice swing. Sweep the club head back and up keeping your arms extended and cocking your wrists as the club is taken up.
Your head should remain quite still and you should try to avoid “sliding” your body back as you take the club around and up. Taking the club back should be a rotational movement with your spine remaining more or less stationary and angled in the same way while rotating your upper body around your spine. As you take the club up and back your shoulders will naturally turn and the club will end up parallel to the target line. Then, keeping that athletic stance, throw the club out and back and down through the ball as you rotate your hips and upper body around your spine.
The golf swing may seem difficult at first but with a bit of dedication toward improving your swing you will almost certainly see an improvement in your game in a matter of weeks. Get to a practice facility or driving range, warm up, then practice swinging using the proper grip, stance and alignment and you will definitely see golf swing improvement. Then once you have mastered the basics you can take your game to the next level.

Back to Titleist 909 D3 Driver Review
Posted by: | CommentsBack to Titleist 909 D3 Driver Review
It seems to me that Titleist’s 909 drivers are the most eagerly awaited Titleist drivers since perhaps. The retailers I’ve talked with are reporting good sales numbers, and PGA Tour adoption was awfully quick, with the majority of staff players switching before the first ball was struck in 2009. Now that I’ve had a chance to test both the 909D3, I’m ready to share my thoughts.
I was using a Taylormade R580 in 8.5 with a XFlex YS-6 shaft, which had served me well for the past 4 years. However that club along with a few others were literally falling apart. It was time to purchase a new driver. I went to the simulator and rounded up the usual suspects, clone golf iron set, clone taylormade iron set, clone callaway iron set, Cobra etc… I quickly eliminated most of the boxy shaped clubs. Of the clubs that were remaining, the best performing was the Titleist drivers.

After the purchase, range time and time on the course have proven this to be the best driver I have had yet. The most prominent improvement was sweet spot size. While the club wasn’t a massive improvement in maximum distance from my previous driver, the mishits were very noticeably better. In addition the ball goes where you swing. Swing a draw, you get one. But the pendulum goes both ways (which is what I want). I also love the classic appearance, the club exudes confidence.
This is the negative part of the review, and fortunately it isn’t directly related to the club. As I mentioned at the beginning, I need 8.5 and XFlex. As it turns out most manufacturers stopped shipping those specs to the stores. As a result I had to place a custom order, which took just under a month from order date to when the driver was delivered. At least it shipped Fed Ex which I appreciate.”
“Purchased the Titleist 909 D3 Driver 9.5 model, loved the look of clubhead 440cc, the way it sets up and the pear shaped head, compared to other new drivers & also i like the feel of the .335 tip shaft instead of .350 tip in other manufacturers, so purchased with stock voodoo shaft, as it played the firmest of the 2 offerings, took it out to course and struggle with left side (hook).
