Why Golf Club Length Matters

Why Golf Club Length Matters

Article by John Ratzki

Playing golf may be very difficult if the golf-club length is not given the 1st priority. This is because making a golf swing won’t be easy. A great and correctly measured driver will thereby be of significance. Having said that, prior to measuring the necessary length of a golf club iron, you need to know it should not be too short or too long for this definitely will restrict your from turning efficiently and making a proper weight transfer throughout the swing. Nevertheless, considerations such as gender, height, wrist distance, age and your swing rate are also significant thought.

If the golf club length is too short, it might be because you top spin the ball which will cause you to miss the targeted point. Either, when the driver is simply too long, it could quickly result in quicker and early earthing of the club. This really is why golfers have to take significant precautions before setting the size or length of their driver. While many golf players particularly those who are well skilled within the game have suggested the extended clubs as the best, it is uncertain that those who don’t posses the possibility of containing a really long club will pop out the losers.

To get the best from your round of golf therefore requires that you have the appropriate club length. This will ensure that you use the exact traditional golf club Continue reading “Why Golf Club Length Matters”

Picking Golf Clubs With The Right Feel For You

Picking Golf Clubs With The Right Feel For You

Article by Adekunle Bekky

Buying golf clubs can be an exciting venture, almost like buying your first car or getting your first house mortgage. As with any financial investment, you want to pick something that will be useful for years to come. Therefore your clubs should work perfectly with your swinging style. By picking clubs that are comfortable to use, you can reduce the likelihood of ever having to replace your it. When you go shopping for clubs, you should look for several things that will increase the comfort and quality of your purchase. These are easy things to look for, and by making a small checklist you can avoid wasting your money on something that doesn’t fully satisfy your needs.

First of all, you should pay close attention to the way the golf club feels when you hold it and swing it. Pick it up at the store and give it a few test swings, and maybe even hit a few balls with it if the store will allow you to. The flex of the shaft, the weight of the club, and the length of the club will all combine to create a very unique feel for every single golf club you try, and if you try enough then you are sure to find one that feels ideal. If you begin to notice traits that you prefer, such as a higher flex level in the shaft or a shorter length, then you can choose golf clubs based on these specific features.

The material of the golf club is a very important part of the factor. The material that the shaft is made out of depends on how much flex you want in it. Graphite shafts are usually suggested for beginners, and have a higher level of flexibility. Steel shafts are cheaper and more reliable, but much heavier. Some people prefer to have this weight and momentum as the swing the club, but some can’t get used to it. Again, you will have just have to go the club store and swing the clubs around a bit so as to get used to the feel.

The head of the club will need to be a very strong material. While a graphite shaft is usually a good choice for beginners, it is not a good idea to choose a similar alloy on the head of the golf club. Iron has, and probably always will be, the best choice for the golf club head. Usually iron heads have the perfect amount of weight (though you can get this adjusted) and enough strength to be very long lasting. Even if you usually prefer it to be much lighter, you will probably find that an alloy head causes it to be rather abnormal and almost unusable.

it grips may not seem like much of an important part, but you would be surprised at what an adverse effect an uncomfortable grip can have on your game. Your hands may become sore from gripping it, and you will slowly become less and less comfortable with each swing. Therefore when you are picking out a golf club, you should be very happy with the grip. If you aren’t fully satisfied, you can replace the grip. You can find replacements in some club stores, and most definitely online. Don’t be afraid to customize your clubs in order to make them more pleasant to use.

Ladies Golf Clubs Buying Guide

Ladies Golf Clubs Buying Guide

When looking for ladies golf clubs sets or single clubs it will be difficult to find an answer that can pinpoint the best.  The reason why is because all people are different, so naturally their preferences will differ.  As with most things, choosing the best ladies golf clubs sets will largely be determined by your personal needs, preference and budget.

Consider your budget and determine what is important for you in a set of golf clubs.  Below are some factors to consider when selecting the best set of ladies golf clubs for you:

1.  Before you jump into making a purchase read the reviews of others who have previously purchased ladies golf sets.  People frequently add reviews to Amazon regarding the purchases they have made.  You can gain some great insight into clubs by reading what others have to say.

Also, the next time you are in golf pro shop, or sports store, be sure to try some of the different brands.  This will help you determine whether the grip of the club feels right for you.

2.  The type of material the shaft is made of is important when selecting a club.  A graphite shaft is lighter than steel.  This makes the club easier to swing for a lady golfer.  When your swing is easy, then this can help you achieve a good swing and ultimately will provide you with more distance.  You will find that frequently clubs with graphite shafts will fall into a higher price category than steel clubs.

3.  The length and weight is also important when choosing a club.  Petite ladies should be sure to stay within the petite range and select ladies petite golf club sets instead of the average sized sets.  The clubs lengths are especially made to fit a shorter frame.  Using a club that does not fit your body size can easily impact your game.

When it comes to improving your golf game, the single most important thing you can do is take lessons.  Even if it is only a few lessons, the benefits you receive from the lessons can be a big help toward improving your game.

No matter if you are choosing among the many ladies golf sets or single ladies golf putter, be diligent to find what is right for you, because the right clubs can certainly be helpful in your golf journey. How to Buy Used Golf Clubs For the Novice Golfer

How to Buy Used Golf Clubs For the Novice Golfer

Are you thinking about learning how to play golf? If you are, I recommend that you do not buy a new golf club set right away, because you might find out later on that golf isn’t your thing. What’s more, you still have to discover the type of golf clubs that fits you while you’re still learning. The best option is to begin with economical used golf clubs.

Initially, you might want to use some rented clubs at a driving range. Throughout this period, ask other golfers or your friends if you may try their clubs. Subsequent to hitting for some time at the driving range, and you feel it’s time to purchase your own clubs, then now is time to consult a golf expert.

Once you venture out to purchase used golf clubs, you ought to seek out individuals who are knowledgeable about golf equipment. You might seek out your local pro at your public course as a resource of advice and information. You may also seek advice from the professionals at the golf shop. On the other hand, you can explore online for used golf club reviews.

Being a beginner golfer, it’s wise to train with a half set of clubs, that has all matching iron of the matching model.

The method to select used golf clubs is to essentially grasp them and swing them to get a sense for what feels right. However, what is ‘feel’? As a rule, feel can be expressed as the way a golfer handles a club when they swing it, depending on the shaft flexibility and its swing weight.

For a novice, you ought to choose the cavity backed (hollowed out in the back), ‘heel-and-toe’ (or, perimeter-weighted) club head design, and oversized golf club. You ought to get larger club heads since they’re more forgiving and enlarge the ‘sweet spot’ which can create greatest distance in spite of off-center strikes.

Graphite shafts are perfect for novices even if it’s more costly than steel shafts. Its overall lighter weight permits the novice to swing the club more rapidly even with bigger clubhead.

Tips For Picking The Right Golf Driver For Your Game

Tips For Picking The Right Golf Driver For Your Game

Article by Niyaz Kazi

One of the most frustrating aspects of golf is the idea that you can shave off a few unneeded strokes, but you don’t know how. Sometimes, you can take a look at your driver; the driver is crucial in setting up each hole. Here are some tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.

1.The club head – The best club head size for your game is determined in your decision in the balance between control and the size of the “sweet spot”, which is the area that provides the best hit in a shot. The smaller sizes range from 150 to 155 cubic centimeters and are considered standard; they provide the most control but have a smaller sweet spot. Midsized club heads are about 195 cubic centimeters and are moderate in both control and sweet spot size. Oversized heads are any ones larger than midsized. They give the largest sweet spot, but are harder to control, partly because of the sheer weight.2.The shaft – Choosing a shaft is a two-step process. First, you must decide between graphite and steel shafts. Then, you must choose a flex level. The decision between materials relies on your experience and end goals. Steel shafts are strong, durable, and offer control; however, you must be strong in order to produce the same distance that graphite does. Overall, stronger players should use steel shafts if control isn’t quite up to par. Graphite shafts are versatile but expensive. They are less durable and offer less control, but require less strength.

Flex, as the name implies, is the flexibility of the shaft. There are five basic levels of flex in golf: L for Ladies, A for Seniors, Regular, Stiff, and Extra Stiff. Flexible shafts provide more power, which is a great aspect for beginning players as well as those with weaker swings. However, as shafts become less and less flexible, there is more control available. This is why stronger players should drift towards the Stiff and Extra Stiff flex levels; that is, if you have a 90-110 MPH swing, try out the stiffer two levels. Average swings are around 75-90 MPH, and players with those swings should stick with the regular level for now.3.The weight and length – Obviously, the basic characteristics of weight and length should be considered. Basically, lighter clubs give faster swing speeds and farther hits. This translates into a simple concept: Players with stronger swings choose heavier clubs for more control. Lighter drivers work better for those without stronger swings.

The length of the driver is another decision in the balance between control and distance. Drivers with a length of 43 to 44 inches are considered traditional. Drivers 45 to 46 inches long can give a slightly longer distance. Any longer than 46 inches poses the opportunity to have a greatly increased potential for distance as well as a greatly decreased range of control.

Many of the aspects that must be considered depend on your swing and willingness to sacrifice control for other benefits. These are your tips for picking the right golf driver for your game.

Which is Better for My Golf Game? Graphite Golf Shafts or Steel Golf Shafts?

Which is Better for My Golf Game? Graphite Golf Shafts or Steel Golf Shafts?

Shafts for golf clubs are primarily made of either steel or graphite. The steel shafts are made from a carbon steel alloy and protective chrome plating is applied to prevent it from rusting. A graphite shaft can also be called a composite shaft because it made from multiple layers of carbon fiber and epoxy resin holding the layers together. There are even some shafts made of both steel and graphite. However, you are probably wondering which is best for you?

Steel shafts have been used for golf clubs since the 1920’s, although earlier versions can be

dated back to the turn of the 20th century. Graphite shafts are a relatively new material used in golf, dating back to the late 1960’s, but didn’t gain widespread acceptance until the mid 1980’s. Both materials are used for some of the following reasons.

Steel shafts are less expensive to manufacturer and easily able to make consistent from shaft-to-shaft. Steel shafts are made from a single material, so creating a new model is limited to geometry changes to the shaft such as the outside diameters along its’ entire length, wall thickness, distance between each step (unless it is a stepless shaft) and usage of additional metals (such as chromium, vanadium and nickel) in the alloys. Premium steel shafts cost about the same as low end graphite shafts.

Graphite shafts were originally designed to make a lightweight alternative to steel shafts. However, there are graphite shafts that actually weigh more than some steel models, but this is very rare. Steel shafts range from approximately 90g to 130g, while graphite shafts can be a low as 39g. The most popular weight range of graphite shafts for woods is 60-70 grams and for iron shafts the weight is closer to 70 – 80 grams. One of the biggest advantages to graphite shafts is their lighter weight.

Since the graphite shafts are generally lighter than steel shafts, there is a potential for greater distance because they may be able to be swung slightly faster. Most graphite shafted clubs are assembled longer in length than standard steel-shafted clubs. Golfers that tend to be less consistent may find the steel shafts to give them greater control. But for those golfers, such as ladies and seniors, who need additional length to enjoy the game better, graphite shafts are a welcome alternative.

Another advantage of graphite shafts over steel is from a design standpoint. As earlier stated, graphite shafts are manufactured from multiple layers of carbon fiber. Each layer can be a different modulus (strength) material and can be applied at different angles to contribute independently to the stiffness or reduction in twisting along the length of the shaft. This allows graphite shaft manufactures almost limitless possibilities in new designs.

Because of the various materials able to be used in the manufacturer of the golf shaft, there is a much greater range in pricing as well. An inexpensive graphite shaft may cost .00, while the most expensive shaft can cost as much as 00.00! Although most graphite shafts normally found in – range. Expect a club with a graphite shaft to cost more than with a steel shaft.

This is one reason why you so the majority of golfers have both steel and graphite shafted clubs in their bag. Greater than 90% of all drivers have graphite shafts in them. This is because the driver is designed for maximum distance and is much larger and easier-to-hit than they were just a few years ago. For fairway woods, more than 80% are equipped with graphite shafts as players tend to match the driver with the same type of shaft. Golfers, who tend to hit the ball a long way and/or need more control, may find steel to their liking. There are a number of lightweight steel shafts available as an alternative to graphite.

Irons and wedges are usually just the opposite in the shaft material choice. Approximately 75% of irons sold today are sold with steel shafts. The primary reason for choosing steel may be an economic factor as the irons and wedges make up a great percentage of the clubs in the bag. The other reason why golfers choose steel in their irons and wedges is for control rather than increasing distance, especially among stronger individuals. However, there are a number of quality graphite iron shafts that come in all different weights and stiffness to match nearly every golfer.

The choice between steel or graphite shafts for you will be based on if you are looking at greater distance or not. Greater distance will come at a greater cost, not only economically, but for those who already don’t hit their ball very straight, hitting the ball further may even compound the problem. Make sure to make the choice wisely based on your personal goals and current tendencies.

Knowledge Expert Before Buying Golf Clubs

Knowledge Expert Before Buying Golf Clubs

Are you preparing to replace your old golf clubs with new ones? Here are a few things to keep in mind before you buy a new set of golf clubs.

Identify Your Needs
You’re about to spend hundreds – maybe thousands, depending on your bankroll and your level of commitment – of dollars. The most important thing when replacing an old set of golf clubs with a new set is to be honest about the state of your game, and your dedication to the game. How much money and what level of equipment do you feel is justified by your game and your dedication to it?

Consider Changes in Your Game
Ask yourself this question: Do I need a different type club because of changes in my game? For example, if your handicap index has shot up because you don’t play as frequently, you might want to replace those muscleback blades with cavitybacks. Conversely, if you’ve shown great improvement, perhaps you’re willing to consider moving up in class to clubs geared for better players. Realistically matching your level of expertise and dedication with the playability of new clubs can only help.

Should You Change Shafts?
The older we get, the more likely it is we need a softer flex on our golf shafts. Most teaching pros will tell you that most men are playing shafts too stiff for their games to begin with. Be honest about your swing. Should you be playing a softer flex? Likewise, players with slower or weaker swings generally benefit from graphite shafts. If you’re playing steel but your swing has slowed, give graphite some consideration. Choosing the Right Shaft Flex
How to Choose a New Shaft
How About a Clubfitting?
The safest way to answer the question about shafts is to get a clubfitting. A rudimentary clubfitting – taking a few measurements, answering a few questions about distances – can be done in any pro shop and even online. But an in-depth clubfitting lasting 30-45 minutes with a teaching pro or professional clubfitter is the best way to ensure that the equipment you’re about to purchase matches your swing and your body. Clubfitting Helps Your Clubs Help You
Before You Buy a Clubfitting
Set a Budget
Once you’ve identified the current state of your game and your future goals, it’s time to consider how much you’re willing to spend. Some golfers have unlimited budgets, and there’s nothing wrong with overspending if you’re in that category. But most golfers have at least some budget constraints. The good news is that the “value” or “budget” category of golf equipment continues to offer more and better choices every year. Decide how much you’re willing to spend, and stick to it. Research Prices in the Pro Shop
Read Golf Club Reviews
Reviews can sometimes be as confusing as they can be helpful, given that different “experts” sometimes offer different conclusions about the same product. But reading reviews can help you get a sense of what’s out there in your price range and what matches your game. Reviews might not provide you with the perfect answer, but they can help you narrow the field. Golf Equipment Reviews and News
Seek Out Opinions
Something else that can help narrow the field are the opinions of friends, of the local golf pro and even of salespeople in pro shops. If you’re shopping low-budget, in a department store for example, you likely won’t find much help from the store’s staff. But there are a couple pro shops in just about every town that have developed reputations for honesty and helpfulness. Find one of those and you might just find the best clubs for you. Seek Opinions in the Golf Forum
Shop Around
Of course, it all comes down to what you like, what you want and how much you can afford. In the end, the only person who needs to be pleased is you. Spend some time looking around and comparing prices. Inventory and prices can vary from store to store. Stick within your budget and find a set of clubs that you’re confident matches your abilities and goals.
