Top 3 Golf Grip Tips – To Improve Performance and Help Fix Common Faults
Posted by: | CommentsTop 3 Golf Grip Tips – To Improve Performance and Help Fix Common Faults
One of the most important elements of your set-up is how you hold the golf club – the grip.
Get the grip right and you are well on your way to playing some great golf shots. We are all looking to improve our game every time we go out onto the course, whether it`s trying to get more distance off the tee, eliminating a slice, or ridding ourselves of the dreaded snap-hook.
Here are my top three golf grip tips to make fine adjustments to help with the most common problems.
Grip the club lightly for more club head speed
Club head speed has a direct significance on the distance we gain. To achieve the greatest club head speed, you need to grip the club as lightly as possible , without it flying from your hands! This is why we wear a glove – to enable us to grip lightly on the club, yet still retain control of it. On a scale of 1-10, if 10 were the tightest you could grip the club, we are looking at maybe 2-3 for a light grip
Use a weaker grip to help prevent hook shots
If your ball is curving to the left, this is known as a hook shot. You need to move your hands around the clubs` grip to the left (anti-clockwise), this is known as a weak grip. Make these adjustments in small increments until you get the desired effect. If you have your grip as weak as possible, and you are still hooking, try this;- grip the club more tightly, on our 1-10 scale try 4-5. Gripping the club tightly makes your arms swing slightly slower and the club head will take longer to release – in normal circumstances this would encourage a slice, but it should fix your hook.
Use a stronger grip to help prevent a slice
If your ball is curving to the right, this is known as a slice. You need to move your hands around the clubs` grip to the right (clockwise), this is known as a strong grip. Again, make these adjustments in small increments until you get the desired effect. If you have your grip as strong as possible, and you are still slicing, then you need to grip the club as lightly as possible, 1-2 on our scale.
This will let your arms swing quicker, the club head will release faster and, in effect, encourage a hook – which should straighten-up your slice.
I hope that you found these golf grip tips useful and informative, and that they go some way to helping your golf game.
Enjoy your golf.

Discount Golf Club Ping G10 Iron Set Review

Ping G10 Iron Set on www.golfstoreshop.comThe Ping G10 irons are engineered from 17-4 stainless steel with extreme low toe weighting to increase the moment-of-inertia for added forgiveness and consistency. The large, perimeter-weighted head of the Ping G10 irons feature a new cavity shape and wider sole. The center of gravity is positioned away from the face and low in the club head to promote higher launching, lower spinning shots. By creating a new shape for the Custom Tuning Port (CTP), Ping engineers stabilized the hitting area for consistent ball velocity across the club face. An elastomer CTP insert helps produce a solid feel and sound. The Ping G10 irons have a wide sole that provides forgiving ground impact and contributes to the high launch characteristics of the iron. The standard steel shaft is the new PING-designed Ascending Weight Technology (AWT) series. In the new series, the long iron shafts are lighter than the short irons shafts to produce a set that provides the golfer consistent weight progression from driver (the lightest shaft in the bag) through the wedges (the heaviest shaft in the bag). The new shafts help increase club head speed in the long irons and add control and consistency to the short irons.Strongly recommendedThe 17-4 stainless steel G10 irons are engineered with extreme low toe weighting to increase the moment-of-inertia for added forgiveness and consistency. Golf Clubs For Women
Posted by: | CommentsGolf Clubs For Women
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize most women are not as strong as men, nor do we try to be. As a women and one who has studied anatomy and physiology in depth, women are not “made” to be as physically strong as men. That being said, women need clubs that suit their physique. Cobra was one of the the first to realize this years ago, and they made the industry jump on board.
One of the big issues I witnessed teaching women, is that if it wasn’t fun for them right from the start, they weren’t coming back! Although disheartening, I understood. For women (or men) to improve their golf mind power, they must believe their clubs are going to work for them.
If the equipment does not match up to the persons physical body type and strength, it’s almost impossible for them to improve. You’ve got to get the ball in the air. It’s just not fun to hit “worm burners” all day.
Key issues in golf clubs for women:
* Light overall weight (with a feel of head weight)
* Correct Flexible shaft based on the swing speed
* Pretty works! Don’t laugh, this is important for us gals!
GET FIT!
It is important to have a proper fitting when choosing new clubs. You wouldn’t go to the shoe store and say, “that’s a pretty color, I’ll take that one”, without trying them on. Golf Clubs are no different. There are many variables that come into play in buying a new set of clubs. A fitting professional can help you with what you need.
Steel vs. Graphite
Steel shafts are great for those with a powerful swing and a low handicap. Graphite is lighter and gives your swing an easier feel. In all the years I’ve fit women with golf clubs, I only fit one with steel, Me. Most amateur women don’t swing the club fast enough to generate the club head speed needed to warrant steel shafts. If you are just starting out, go with graphite shafts rather than steel. Although more expensive, they are much easier for the beginner, high handicapper or women that prefer the lightness of graphite.
Some ladies choose the more expensive but low weight yet hard titanium. Stainless steel is cheaper, but it is also heavier. An alternative is an alloy head which is made from a combination. There are many combinations using different metals.
Beginner Ladies Sets
I can’t tell you how many starter sets I sold to women! Yes, you are allowed 14 clubs in your bag, but you don’t need them all when you are just starting out. You have enough to think about when you just starting the game, that fewer clubs choices makes the decision easier and faster when you are on the course. (Trust me playing faster is a good thing in the beginning.) I started many women with a 5, 7, 9 iron, and sand wedge plus a 3, 7 wood and putter. Seven clubs is more than enough to get you started. What’s great about Cobra and many other companies is you can always fill in your set with the missing clubs later, when you are ready. At some point you may want to add a driver and some other clubs depending on your how you are progressing and if you have some gaps in yardages.
Sets for Better Players
Believe it or not, most people that play golf, don’t break 100! Here’s the good news, if you shoot a score less than a 100 you can be considered a mid handicapper! Golfers who play close to 10 over par or less would be considered to have a low handicap. When choosing a new set of clubs at this stage there are many things to consider such as what clubs you feel you need, would you prefer a used set of expensive clubs rather than new cheaper sets?
This is where you really want to take the time with a Golf Professional to get fit properly. A pro can explain about the different materials and take things like loft and lie of each club into consideration when buying a complete set. Most pro shops will also carry a variety. The major club companies are:Titleist, Callaway, Taylormade, Ping and Nike.
Do it right the first time!
Whether you are a complete beginner or a low handicapper, buying golf clubs are part of the business. Get the clubs you need that will work for you, whether its a few or the complete set. When you start out with the right “tools” you can pour your foundation and build a strong game that will last a lifetime!

Golf Driving Tips to Get You Right On Target
Posted by: | CommentsGolf Driving Tips to Get You Right On Target
There is no better way to begin a hole than to have a wonderful drive that lands just where you had visualized it. Accurate and with excellent distance. It’s unfortunate that this doesn’t happen all that frequently. If you follow, and become skilled, at these golf driving tips you will achieve that dream shot more frequently.
The most crucial golf driving tip is to attain accuracy before looking for distance off the tee. A shorter accurate drive free of hazards is always preferable to a long drive with problems to overcome. One difficult shot tends to turn into another and before you know it the score for the hole is mounting quickly.
Wayward shots are time and again caused by trying to smash the ball using the arm muscles in an effort to get added distance. A slice or hook are the common result and seldom the shot you were hoping for. Instead use a smooth deliberate golf swing to create club head speed. If you are wanting to achieve great distance club head speed is the key. You will get far more distance from a ball struck well with less power than from a ball this is struck badly but with more power. Never force a shot in an attempt just to hit it further and take your time. Never try to hit the ball harder just try to think of hitting the ball better.
Not all tee shots are made using a driver so correct club selection is also vital. You need to know the distance you are capable of hitting with each club, otherwise it is almost impossible to select the right club for each situation. At the driving range make a note of the average distance you achieve with each club. When you arrive at the tee area make sure that you look down the fairway and make a decision about where you want to land your ball. Then match the distance needed to the club you feel confident you can reach this target with.
Take the time before you take your shot to visualize the flight of the ball and it landing right on target.
Always check your grip as it can be a chief cause of slices and hooks. When you set up and take your grip have a look at your left hand (for right handed golfers) and ensure that you can see two knuckles.
When using your driver the ball position should be just off the inside of your left heel and your feet should be shoulder width apart. Your head should be positioned behind the ball until impact. Depending on which club you are using, ball placement for your other clubs will be towards the middle of your feet.
Get the basics correct with these golf driving tips and get the ball where you want it to be. Greater distance and right on target.
These golf driving tips will help you get the basics right with your driving. When you are confident with your drives you might like to try to learn to hit a draw.
