Review Of Golf Training Aids- Can They Really Help Lower Your Scores?

Article by Jack Moorehouse

Today’s marketplace is flooded with training aids. You can find one for nearly every part of the game. And more and more are being introduced every day. While a training aid won’t lower your golf handicap overnight or replace golf tips, it will help improve your golf game if you work with it faithfully.

Below are five training aids golfers often ask about in my golf lessons. Designed to improve your swing or a phase of your swing, these products help correct faults, groove mechanics, and/or ingrain the feel of swing. The key, as always, is finding a training aid that works for you before investing your hard-earned money.

(And incidentally, I am in no way affiliated with these companies nor do I make money from these reviews.)

Amazing Assist Swing Trainer (www.matzie.com)

Available from Gibas & Matzie Golf Products, the Amazing ASSIST training club improves your swing and increases strength. It’s like getting a golf lesson free of charge. Its weighted head and bent shaft teaches the correct hand action. The ASSIST improves muscle memory, extension, and weight transfer as well as tempo and timing.

As the club is swung, the proper release action is exaggerated to eliminate slicing, increase clubhead speed, and produce straight shots. In addition, the training grip places the thumbs and index fingers Vs of your hands in the traditional 11 o’clock and 12 o’clock positions. You can use it at home, on the range, or before your golf lessons.

The Amazing ASSIST is ideal for pre-game or pre-practice warm-ups or for everyday use to improve your swing. The ASSIST is available for men, women, and juniors, and for right-handers and left-handers. An instructional video comes with the product. The cost is .

The Elbow Tac-Tic (www.4golftraining.com)

Maintaining one’s left elbow (for right-handers) as straight as comfortably possible determines the width of your swing arc, as I’ve explained in my golf tips. The wider the swing arc, the greater the power. The Elbow Tac-Tic sleeve clicks when the elbow breaks down, providing the instant feedback needed to correct the swing and keep the left elbow extended. The Tac-tic also works on the right arm, clicking when the elbow bends at the proper point in the backswing. Cost: 39.95.

The Speed Stik (www.speedstik.com)

Most golf instruction will tell you that clubhead speed determines the distance a ball is hit. The faster the clubhead speed, the farther the ball goes. Working out with the Speed Stik increases a golfer’s clubhead speed and trains proper balance and on-plane swing. Swing the Speed Stick in a continuous motion back and forth, keeping it about 18 inches off the ground. Start slowly at first, and then build momentum. Check the speed gauge for your MPHs. Every increase of 1 MPH equals three more yards of distance. Repeat a few days a week and chart your distance. Cost: .99

The Impact Ball (www.theimpactball.com)

The Impact Ball develops the feel of hitting a ball properly. Available from To-M-Pact Golf, Inc., it’s easy to use and understand. It’s based on the idea that many recreational players have certain swing faults (chicken wing, flying elbows, etc.) or that they try to scoop the ball off the ground when hitting. Sometimes, even the best golf instruction can’t rid a player of certain faults.

The Impact Ball works. It’s placed between the forearms and held there through your swing. The ball is bi-colored, and the only thought to focus on is to getting the ball to change colors as the club moves through the impact area. The product trains golfers to strike the ball solidly with a square clubface, eliminating any attempts to flip or scoop the ball during the shot.

The Impact Ball addresses every phase of the game–chipping, pitching, putting, driving, and bunker play. You can hit balls on the range with the Impact Ball or practice swinging the club with it at home. The cost: .95 + shipping and handling.

The Swing Magic Driver (www.swingmagic.com)

Training with Kallassy’s Swing Magic Driver ingrains the proper motion into your swing. Designed to improve timing, tempo, and rhythm, the Swing Magic synchronizes the movement of your arms, hands, and body. A sliding training clip enables you to separate your right hand (for right handers) during the backswing. By separating the right hand on the backswing and reconnecting it on the downswing imprints an on-plane golf swing, essential for consistent ball striking. It prevents you from coming “over the top” as well. Cost: .95.

Remember, a training aid is not a panacea, as I often mention in my golf tips. It won’t dramatically improve your game overnight. It won’t make up for good course management. And it won’t take the place of a one-on-one golf lesson. But it will ingrain the fundamentals of a good swing, cut strokes off your scores, and lower your golf handicap, if you practice with it faithfully. Just make sure the training aid is right for you before buying.

Back to Titleist 909 D3 Driver Review

It seems to me that Titleist’s 909 drivers are the most eagerly awaited Titleist drivers since perhaps. The retailers I’ve talked with are reporting good sales numbers, and PGA Tour adoption was awfully quick, with the majority of staff players switching before the first ball was struck in 2009. Now that I’ve had a chance to test both the 909D3, I’m ready to share my thoughts.

I was using a Taylormade R580 in 8.5 with a XFlex YS-6 shaft, which had served me well for the past 4 years. However that club along with a few others were literally falling apart. It was time to purchase a new driver. I went to the simulator and rounded up the usual suspects, clone golf iron set, clone taylormade iron set, clone callaway iron set, Cobra etc… I quickly eliminated most of the boxy shaped clubs. Of the clubs that were remaining, the best performing was the Titleist drivers.

After the purchase, range time and time on the course have proven this to be the best driver I have had yet. The most prominent improvement was sweet spot size. While the club wasn’t a massive improvement in maximum distance from my previous driver, the mishits were very noticeably better. In addition the ball goes where you swing. Swing a draw, you get one. But the pendulum goes both ways (which is what I want). I also love the classic appearance, the club exudes confidence.

This is the negative part of the review, and fortunately it isn’t directly related to the club. As I mentioned at the beginning, I need 8.5 and XFlex. As it turns out most manufacturers stopped shipping those specs to the stores. As a result I had to place a custom order, which took just under a month from order date to when the driver was delivered. At least it shipped Fed Ex which I appreciate.”

“Purchased the Titleist 909 D3 Driver 9.5 model, loved the look of clubhead 440cc, the way it sets up and the pear shaped head, compared to other new drivers & also i like the feel of the .335 tip shaft instead of .350 tip in other manufacturers, so purchased with stock voodoo shaft, as it played the firmest of the 2 offerings, took it out to course and struggle with left side (hook).

Golf Sets & Equipment For Beginners

Article by R. Martin

You could try to buy your golf equipment pieces individually, one at a time. But, many new players just purchase complete golf club “sets” and get their shopping all out of the way at once. Buying your entire golf set at once is probably the best way to go about it if you are not planning on going pro anytime soon. It takes a lot of the hard decision making out of purchasing golf gear because you can just pick up a premade set of clubs and be on your merry way. After all, for the beginner golfer, it can be a little confusing as to which club is which and which club is used on which shot.

Consider the set of golf clubs an easy shortcut to getting some decent gear that you can use without overspending or getting to confused as to what’s what.

However, you should know a few things before investing in an entire golf set. What is in a complete golf set? Generally, 4 things: clubs: Wedges, Irons, Woods, and Putters.

Furthermore, there are hybrid clubs too. A Hybrid club is usually something somewhere between an iron and a wood. For the course, standard rules only allow a golfer to carry 14 clubs in his bag during a game. However, the golfer can chose chose any combination that he wants to bring with him.

Now, what kind of condition set should you buy? Should you buy a new set or a used one? There are benefits to each. It’s kind of like buying a car. If you’ve got the money, a new car is nice. And the new car almost always comes without hidden defects. The opposite is true of used cars. They are much cheaper but often can contain nasty surprises. I speak from experience!

Whether to buy a new or used complete set is up to you. If your concern is saving money (maybe better spent on golf balls that go missing), you may want to consider going for used equipment. This might be the best option for people who aren’t looking to pay a lot up front. Though, much like a used car, used clubs may not be perfect. Worn grips, fractured shafts, and other problems are all too common. One good tip is to get a guarantee from the seller, just in case.

For new golfers, many manufacturers sell starter sets, which might be another avenue to pursue. These starter golf sets usually include a Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood, 3 – 9 Irons, a Pitching Wedge and Putter along with a golf bag to carry them in. After your game improves, you can always expand your collection.

Beginner golfers can also benefit from golf books, training guides, and other golf related training aids. These accessories help the beginner golfer learn more about the game, improve strokes, stance, and etiquette. These can be great for people who prefer to be self taught.

Here is another tip for new golfers: use the cheapest golf balls available. This is because you will be loosing plenty of balls when you first start this game. As your game gets better, you can worry about buying the fancy balls. After all, you are still learning. So, don’t spend too much time worrying about which ball to chose. Get the cheapest ones out there until your game has advanced considerably.

Your Best Choice Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 Putter

Article by Bestwholesalegolf

The Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 Putter is the result of Scotty Cameron’s Putter research and their drive to create a putter collection with the finest technical performance and incredible overall feel. The precision milled 303 Stainless Steel Newport putters feature an improved high toe profile and heel and toe circular sole weights that allow for numerous length options in each model.Design For those of you who didn’t like the German Stainless Steel (GSS) insert on the Studio Style line, it is now a thing of the past. The Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 Putter milled from a block of 303 stainless steel and provide a slightly different feel and sound compared to the GSS insert of the Studio Style. I actually grew to like the insert of the Studio Style so this was a little bit of change for me. More on that later.Performance & FeelI’m not sure what the difference between German vs. American stainless steel (or any other country’s stainless steel for that matter) but I had grown accustomed to the soft feel of the insert and almost hated to see it go. After two years of getting used to that particularly soft feel and the more muted sound, I noticed an immediate change when I switched to the all-milled Studio Select. I adjusted, but it took a few rounds. Overall, the putter is easy to handle and is one of the best golf clubs I have ever met.

Scotty Cameron has pretty much held the same weight/length characteristics with his various Newport lines over the years with few exceptions. For the most part, the 33″ length was matched with a 350-gram head, the 34″ with a 340-gram head, and the 35″ getting a 330-gram head. Other than swapping shafts with a heavier head (or vise versa), you were pretty much stuck with whatever weight head came with the correct shaft length for your physical makeup and putting stroke. For those of us who prefer a little more heft in our putter head and don’t want to use lead tape, the new Studio Select line fits us perfectly. The Studio Selects feature removable weights that let you fine-tune the weight that works best for you.I’ve spent the last two years using a Studio Style Newport 2 and really like the softer feel of the insert, so even though the Studio Select Newport 2 looks similar, I was a little hesitant to give up the feel to which I’d become accustomed. Read on to find out if I ditched the insert and went all milled.

How to Get Rid of Acne Scars – A Step By Step Method

So, you intend to learn how to get rid of acne scars, do you? Well, I honestly can not blame you, as such scarring may leave your face looking, well, not so great to say the least. Luckily, you won’t need to just wait for your acne scars to go away on their own — it is possible to do something about them!

4 Steps for How to Get Rid of Acne Scars…

Begin Healing the Skin: The easiest way to start to repair your skin is by using a daily face wash using cucumber juice. The juice alone has remarkable effects on the skin as well as for minimizing inflammation. Simply massage it in every day and watch as acne scars start to steadily fade.

Purge Dead Skin: It’s a well known fact that acne scars are “trapped” — for lack of a better word — inside of dead layers of skin. By ridding yourself of these layers, your skin will get smoother & smoother & smoother as each layer is slowly taken away. The best way to go about accomplishing this is through adding lemon juice to the water when you wash & clean your face. The acidity of the lemon juice will RAPIDLY shed dead layers and bring back the smoothness that once was. Depending on the sensitivity of the skin, you may decide to wash your face JUST using lemon juice or you may dilute it with water.

Rejuvenate Facial Skin: Thinly cut a tomato and apply the slices to your face — more specifically, right to the spots plagued by acne scarring. The antioxidants (such as vitamin-A) will help soften the skin thereby making acne scars significantly less noticeable over time. With dead skin layers taken away (provided you implemented the earlier steps), growing new skincells that are stronger and more healthy won’t be overly tough. If you wish to do this for your ENTIRE face, simply turn the tomato into a paste instead. Allow the slices or paste sit for only 15-20 minutes — no more.

Smoothing Out the Skin: Acne scars are well known for taking soft, smooth skin and turning it into extremely rough skin. Having said that, it only makes sense to look for ways to reduce this roughness. Start routinely massaging your acne scars with small quantities of olive oil. This helps to smooth out the tone & texture and minimize that rough appearance your skin has developed.

You now know precisely how to get rid of acne scars with 4 easy steps. Are these steps certain to clear away acne scarring? Sadly, no — but, that doesn’t mean they won’t help. And besides, if these methods don’t work for you, there are still lots of other, more effective ways of how to get rid of acne scars.
