Reviews on Golf Courses Can Give First Hand Information About Upcoming Play

Reviews on Golf Courses Can Give First Hand Information About Upcoming Play

Article by Helen Tanady

Ahead of moving towards a new course, a lot of golfers take benefit of golf course reviews accessible to see what they can anticipate once they reach the destination. There is lots of information in a golf course review, particularly if it is written by players who have essentially played the course more than on one occasion, and helpful information will usually contain more than the character of the clubhouse owner.

When glancing at a golf course review, there are two figures that truly tell the tale on how well a player can imagine doing on that course. Think about two different types of golfers, one who shoots par for the course almost all times they play not considering the course or conditions, and the bogey golfer who usually scores 18 over par on each round played. Keeping these two groups in mind, every hole on each course is specified two numbers. One is the rating and the other is the slope, which when incorporated in the golf course review point to the difficulty of the course for both groups.

U.S. Golf Association has made the rating system homogeneous, which is included in the golf course reviews. Rating is the score that an average par golfer can wait for. Slope is the divergence between what a par golfer and a bogey golfer can expect on the same course under comparable circumstances.

Reviews talk about the design of the golf course too.

Course surroundings are typically incorporated in independent comments in a golf course review but again, think about the time of year the writer played and the climate at that time. Every single one of these variables pointed to in a golf course review can offer a better picture of what can be anticipated on that reviewed course.

While reading at a golf course review the layout needs to be considered. Bogey golfers will have additional difficulty with tight fairways, but larger greens may be tolerant. Improved golfers will typically have little trouble with tight fairways, but lesser greens may give them a little anguish. It is obliging if the golfers handicap is incorporated with what they put in writing in a golf course review.

Whilst it is good to visit a golf course where the employees are remarkably responsive and they offer grand service, the state of the golf equipment they present is even significant to be incorporated in a golf course review. It does not matter how much they smirk and show gratitude to you if you have to walk back to the clubhouse as the golf cart broke down on the far side of the golf course.

Tiger Is Far From Finished on PGA Tour

Tiger Is Far From Finished on PGA Tour

Article by Marina

Thought Tiger Woods is not the Number One of Office World Golf Ranking, a lot of golf fans think that he would back as soon as possible.

Last week, Tiger Woods get an injury, what next for him? In this article, I would like to tell you the newest golf news about Tiger Wood with PGA Tour. If you want to know much more golf news or TaylorMade R9 SuperTri Driver reviews, you may read this funny article – Thousands Of Applicants For 2011 U.S. Open in my blog.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods showed everyone that he was back at the Masters earlier this month, giving us an epic rally from a five shot deficit to hold a share of the lead in the clubhouse on Sunday.

Then, the comeback became even more impressive when we learned that Woods was playing with injuries to his MCL and Achilles tendon, injuries which figure to sideline the 13-time Masters champ for a few weeks now.

But, don’t take this latest malady to mean that Woods’ goose is cooked on the PGA Tour; in fact, it could be just what he needs to get himself back on track.

Confused? It’s simple, really; Woods’ biggest flaw at Augusta was without a doubt his putter. Woods’ inability to hole putts cost him the tournament, and while the rest of his game looked to be in tip top shape, his putting looked like it was still miles from being back.

Now, he can take as much time as he needs over the next few weeks focusing all his energy on his putting. He can hobble over to the putting green at his Jupiter, Florida estate and just stand there, knocking balls into holes.

The rest of Tigers game was sharper than ever at Augusta; now, he’s basically been given orders to work solely on that aspect of his game which has given him the most trouble. On top of that, it’s not like this injury is really all that serious; it’s a fairly common one for golfers to suffer on the Tour, and Woods himself said it’s nothing more than a minor malady.

The fact is that Tiger Woods is closer to being back than ever, injury or no injury. His putting will come around sooner or later, and now that he’s been ordered to rest his injury, he could take the chance to improve that area of his game.

If he actually manages to figure something out in the next few weeks, don’t be surprised to see him tear apart the U.S. Open on one of his all-time favorite courses. Two Tips to Help You Shake off the Slice

Two Tips to Help You Shake off the Slice

Are you playing a round of slice golf? I bet you wish that you could play on the same course . Right? Well, put down the revolver and step away from the clubhouse, there is help at hand. As a golf player foe a lot of years now, my most serious problem is that of the slicing the ball, leading to personal disappointment and laughs for our golfing companions.

Until recently, I displayed a very sloppy and really quite scary swing, trying anything to stop the slice situation, yet this got tiny influence on the total trajectory of the relentless ball. Our handicap kept ‘off the scale’ excessive no matter what I did so, and I could have been recently greater appropriate playing with a falconry gauntlet rather than any golf handwear cover, ruining one handwear cover right after the subsequent, in fast sequence. Right after reluctantly trying any recent approach, which usually involved any totally diverse method, our game swiftly changed, and pleasingly for the smarter. I simply wish I got tried that sooner. Here are usually two tips which have helped myself through and should furthermore help you grow to be any right present shooter.

First: Are your arms too loose? In that case, it is not likely that you will be able to retain a directly swing plane and hit the ball straight. Completely focus then, on keeping your left arm inflexible, knee closed, so that you can have a relatively immediately swing plane through the ball. If your arms are usually too shed and moving erratically most above the put, that is extremely improbable which you can push the ball in its intended route, and you may well probably not also raise that off the terrace. Thus, picture a smooth swing plane and adjust your arms before you take the shot. Try not to retain them too tight even though, just firm, like you have too much pressure, you will have to place more effort in, and the probability is that you can not have a rhythmical movements on the downswing. If this happens, a clean hit are usually really fortunate.

Second: Do not forget to go mental. One of the most important things of golf is to keep your spirits up when you face the adversity. Having a optimistic emotional mindset is good to winning the combat with the tiny pipsqueak, the golf balls. Convincing yourself you are the manager and in charge of IT which could perform superior for you. Learn to relax, think about the pointers for your swing, completely focus, and effortlessly sock that to the tiny, spherical risk. You can do that. Bear in mind, this is how you find your kicks and why you are usually playing this wonderful game in the first place.

Why Stop at Hole 18 When You Can Play 27 Holes

Why Stop at Hole 18 When You Can Play 27 Holes

Golf course editorial review presented by John Schneider in www.FirstLightSports.com

Located in Sussex, Wisconsin, Ironwood Golf Course is a venue that contains 27 holes of beauty, enjoyment, challenge, and frustration.   The course has three different sets of 9 hole courses that are assembled in several clever combinations to help make each golfing adventure unique.  Ironwood was first established in 1995 with the completion of the “Callow” course.  Over the next several years the “Meath” and “Birr” courses were added.  Each of the 9 hole courses start and end at Ironwood’s large and comfortable clubhouse.  While Ironwood has 27 separate holes, it is not a course where you feel like you are playing repetitive or cookie-cutter holes; no two holes are alike.

Ironwood will challenge the experienced golfer, while making sure the day still is full of fun moments for golfers of all levels.  Callow to Meath has a rating of 71.5 and a slope of 126, Meath to Birr is 71/124, and Birr to Callow is 70.9/125.

The Callow (Riverside Meadow) course has several holes that allow opportunities to score, but then it wraps up with a three hole bang of demanding doglegs and elevation changes.  Hole 7 is the toughest hole of the entire 27.  This 500 yard hole is tree lined the entire way on both sides.  If that is not enough to scare the dimples off your Titleists, the fairway that takes you uphill is only a skinny 20 yards wide.  Getting past this hole with a bogie is definitely a good day for me.  Double digit scores on hole 7 are an unfortunate, but not uncommon, reality.  When you reach the green on top of hole 7 you are rewarded with a panoramic view of most of the Meath course.  Hole 8 takes you right back down the hill and carries forward the tree lined fairway theme.  This hole, however, has a sharp dogleg left.  A good tee shot will come to rest in the landing area, roughly 200 yards downhill (don’t hit it too far and find the trees).  From there you will have a good look at the green and you should be home free with a good chance for par or better.  After several holes of seemingly forested play hole 9 takes you out of the trees.  Before leaving you need to hit your drive up the tree lined fairway.  If you crush your drive with a slight fade the dogleg right fairway will give you a nice view of the green.

The Meath (Middle Place) course flows in, out, and around a wide valley.  Many of the holes on this course have great risk / reward opportunities and some repetitive experience will help you to determine your best targets.  Number 3 would be my choice as the signature hole; an elevated tee placement will give you an opportunity to go for the green for this very drivable down hill par 4 (roughly 275 yards).  The green, surrounded by water, sand traps, and waste area, is a tough golf shot.  The safe play is a 200 yards shot down to fairway for a chance at an up-and-down birdie.  However taking the 3 wood out for a chance at the eagle (or double-eagle dreams) is very tempting.  Par 5 hole 6 takes you 550 yards back down into the valley, while the next hole, par 3 #7, takes you right back up to a multi-tiered green surrounded by several deep sand traps.  Hole 8 is a dogleg left par 5.  If you can hit a high and long drive you might consider going over the forest; a great drive will place you only 150 yards from the green (for a true eagle opportunity). But, if you miss your mark you will be hitting 3 from the tee box.

The Birr (Water Place) course was the most recent, and last, addition to Ironwood.  Water comes into play on all but two holes here.  To add to the fun and frustration the fairways tend to slope to the water often causing what initially was thought to be a great drive into a penalty.  With that said, there are many scoring opportunities on this course as well.  If you have managed to lose that nasty slice and have not replaced it with a pushy hook, your straight drive is going to help you record a lot of pars here.  Bogies and beyond might be in your future if your drive is slicing.  On an earlier occasion, in the same day, I carded a score of 50, but after seeing the light finished in the round in the high 30s.  Hole 2 is a short par 4 where big hitters might be able to reach the green.  The next hole, par 5 #3, is a long straight hole with water running down the right side the entire way.  Bombing the drive might give you the opportunity to reach the green in 2, but water is on the left, right, and rear of the green.  Hole 7 is a 460 yard par 4 where reaching this green in 2 is a very nice accomplishment.  Finally hole 9 is a dogleg left that is begging you to hit over the old barn/silo.

The three separate courses, driving range, and large clubhouse make Ironwood ideally suited to host group outings and leagues, while at the same time allowing space for the general public to play.  Ironwood offers a full-service clubhouse with a variety of room venues for gatherings and banquets.   The largest banquet room seats 220.  The open-air party barn can hold 150 people.  Both venues provide great views of the courses, Holy Hill, and the surrounding countryside.   On any given day you can plan on seeing some sort of group outing in progress.  If you are located in the Milwaukee suburbs and are planning a corporate or charity golf outing I strongly recommend you give Mike Lehmann, Ironwood’s Director of Golf, a call (262-538-9900; http://ironwoodgolfcourse.com/ ) to give him the opportunity to win your business.

Golf prices at Ironwood generally fall inline with the other privately owned / publicly played courses in the Lake Country area.  Tee times are usually available due to the existence of the 27 holes.  I recommend that you make some time during the golf season to give this wonderful course a try.

My Golfing Life As A Hooker!

My Golfing Life As A Hooker!

Article by David Lee

This is a warning to all wannabe golfer’s,go down this path with your golf game i can guarantee you will live a life of pain and anguish, sorry i don’t mean to start on a negative note but the fact is it’s true.

Basically throughout my golfing career i have been a hooker, how or more importantly why it started i can’t explain. It certainly wasn’t intentional. When i first started hooking it was by no means every shot, the honest truth was that it just crept up on me,over days, weeks, and even months, the problem being it just gets worse to the point that almost every shot hangs towards the left, and not just a tiny bit either,oh no we are talking 90 degrees to the left my golf shots were making a circle look tame.

I spent a majority of my days in trees searching for lost balls,my friends didn’t want to play golf with me(i didn’t blame them to be honest)I can remember this day so clearly, the dreaded day i discovered i ran out of golf balls only during a round i hasten to add!.Talk about embarrassing.

I decided that i was long overdue in receiving professional help,i walked off the course that afternoon, and spoke to the pro in the clubhouse. He advised me that he had already heard about my problem, mmnn my so called friends had talked to him the previous day to find out if it was infectious of all things!.

However i began to cheer up after talking to the pro because there is a cure.Keap reading and i will elaborate

THE PROBLEM:

Hitting the ball with a closed clubface, causing shots to curve (sometimes dramatically) to the left.

THE CURE:

Ascertain your own grip, when gripping the club the Vs in each hand need to point over your right shoulder,if they are pointing further to the right your grip is way too strong, this will cause a closed face which will cause a ‘hook’ at impact-when your hands come back to their normal position.

You may find that your grip is good but you are still hooking,if this is you then weaken your grip by gradually moving both hands to the left.Your stance is very important so make certain your feet, knees, hips and shoulders are all parallel to your target line.

Another major cause of ‘hooking’ is the position of the ball itself having it too far back can produce an excessive in-to-out swingpath,to rectify this grip the club more in the palm of your hand, rather than your fingers, this will reduce the action in your wrists and premature closing of the clubface.

Always make sure that your left wrist joint isn’t to loosened up at the moment of impact,if this is the case your right wrist will take charge and consequently the clubface will close too early.Onto your downswing now,the action should always begin with your legs and body. This stops your wrists unhinging and closing the clubface too soon.

Can you see that this problem is curable folks?Well ok maybe not TOTALLY curable, after many years it still happens to me on occasions. But at least i don’t have to spend my golfing days stuck up a tree looking for lost balls,i am quite happy with my new title-The Happy Occasional Hooker!.

Some Optional Accessories for Golf

Some Optional Accessories for Golf

Article by Darren Pace

There are a plethora of accessories available for playing golf in addition to the most basic equipment needed to simply play the game (a ball & clubs) at its most rudimentary level. A golf bag and golf shoes are probably the first two additions to the equipment that one should consider, but after these two items, the items become a little more personalized based on individual features, characteristics, and the ability to purchase. Some items that one may wish to seriously consider purchasing next would be:

1) The USGA Rules of Golf. Yes, there are many rules to the game and a firm understanding of the rules will simultaneously frustrate and enhance your ability to play the game well. The rules will define some of the golf accessories that are available for the game of golf that are actually forbidden by the rules, so you may want to start right here if you have any desire to play in any sanctioned competitions in the future.

2) Consider purchasing a golf umbrella. As an accessory for golf, an umbrella is one of those things that you will hopefully not need often, but when you do it will be the best piece of equipment in your bag. Just picture yourself about as far away from the clubhouse as you can possibly be when that thunderstorm breaks loose to know the answer why.

3) In addition to an umbrella one should consider a golf rain suit as an additional golf accessory. These are a wonderful addition for the die-hard golfer that wants to finish the round even though it has started to drizzle and looks as if it is not going to stop for a while.

4) A very popular accessory for golf is also the golf glove. This addition can greatly enhance the players grip on the club and significantly improve solid contact on each and every shot. Additionally, specific gloves are also manufactured for playing in the rain as well.

5) Another accessory for golf that is very popular is the clip-on towel. A towel is a great addition for removing debris from the golf ball and/or the golf clubs after making a shot. Additionally low cost items such as ball markers and green repair tools can add a little spice to the game.

6) Club covers are a great accessory for golf clubs to protect them from damage that can occur in transit or while being carried, wheeled, or carted along on the golf course.

7) Specialty clubs are also a great way to personalize your equipment based on your strengths and weaknesses. There are a wide variety of clubs available that one can purchase in addition to the standard set of clubs including, but not limited to, “trouble woods”, sand wedges, ultra-loft pitching wedges, and drivers with various lofts, head styles, shaft lengths and stiffness’.

8) Putters. Putting is half the game and deserves a lot of attention because of it. A wide range of different putters are available that will allow the individual to further personalize their golf accessories up to and including head covers for the putter as well.

This is just a small snapshot of the many different, but perhaps more popular, accessories for golf.
