Putting Drills to Lower Your Golf Score

Putting Drills

Developing putting drills that work is one of the fastest ways to lower your score. Many golfers lose a significant number of strokes once they get onto the green. By utilizing putting drills, you can learn to get the ball into the hole in fewer strokes.

Any seasoned golfer will tell you that the short game can be stroke-hungry, and that what happens on the green can wreak havoc on an otherwise good score. 3-putts, 4-putts, and even 5-putts are more common than you might think—but there is good news. Putting drills can dramatically help golfers hone their skills on the green, resulting in fewer total strokes.

When it comes to putting drills, spend time concentrating on the three essentials:

Keeping the face square

Maintaining a smooth swing

Achieving distance control

Keeping the Face Square:

If you are in the habit of hitting the ball with your blade open or closed, try this:

Place a ball on the practice green and put a tee in the ground about twelve inches behind the ball. Put a silver coin on the ground about six inches in front of the ball. Bring your putter back until it taps the tee and then swing it forward, watching to ensure that the face stays square as it passes over the coin.

Maintaining a Smooth Swing

Putting drills should have a specific purpose and specific goal. With this next tip, you can learn to swing the club smoothly, which is key to maintaining your tempo and striking the ball solidly.

Again, place a ball on the practice green and stick a tee into the ground about 12 inches behind the ball. Bring the club back until it just barely nicks the tee and then immediately go into your fore-swing.

Keep your arms moving in a pendulum fashion and keep your hands still.

Achieving distance control

One of the most crucial putting drills is learning distance control. The only way to master distance control is through your own touch or feel. Nothing else can replace hands-on practice time when it comes to honing your skills on the green.

There are dozens of practice exercises for distance control, but one of the best is to simply stake out five tees, four feet apart, with the last tee being 20 feet away. Then, concentrate on getting the ball to each of the tees consistently.

If the ball rolls a few inches past the tee, that’s fine. What you don’t want to see is the ball stopping short of or rolling well beyond the target tee.

Notice that you are not aiming at a flag or a cup with this exercise, as this could distract you and cause you to focus more on accuracy than distance. While it’s true that distance and accuracy must work together, there are times when they should not be learned together.

These are only a few of the many putting drills that are available from golf pros and golfing websites. To master your skill on the green, you will need to invest time and energy. Learn to read the green and how to lag a putt, but most of all, learn to love putting drills. They really do work.

Reviews on Golf Courses Can Give First Hand Information About Upcoming Play

Reviews on Golf Courses Can Give First Hand Information About Upcoming Play

Article by Helen Tanady

Ahead of moving towards a new course, a lot of golfers take benefit of golf course reviews accessible to see what they can anticipate once they reach the destination. There is lots of information in a golf course review, particularly if it is written by players who have essentially played the course more than on one occasion, and helpful information will usually contain more than the character of the clubhouse owner.

When glancing at a golf course review, there are two figures that truly tell the tale on how well a player can imagine doing on that course. Think about two different types of golfers, one who shoots par for the course almost all times they play not considering the course or conditions, and the bogey golfer who usually scores 18 over par on each round played. Keeping these two groups in mind, every hole on each course is specified two numbers. One is the rating and the other is the slope, which when incorporated in the golf course review point to the difficulty of the course for both groups.

U.S. Golf Association has made the rating system homogeneous, which is included in the golf course reviews. Rating is the score that an average par golfer can wait for. Slope is the divergence between what a par golfer and a bogey golfer can expect on the same course under comparable circumstances.

Reviews talk about the design of the golf course too.

Course surroundings are typically incorporated in independent comments in a golf course review but again, think about the time of year the writer played and the climate at that time. Every single one of these variables pointed to in a golf course review can offer a better picture of what can be anticipated on that reviewed course.

While reading at a golf course review the layout needs to be considered. Bogey golfers will have additional difficulty with tight fairways, but larger greens may be tolerant. Improved golfers will typically have little trouble with tight fairways, but lesser greens may give them a little anguish. It is obliging if the golfers handicap is incorporated with what they put in writing in a golf course review.

Whilst it is good to visit a golf course where the employees are remarkably responsive and they offer grand service, the state of the golf equipment they present is even significant to be incorporated in a golf course review. It does not matter how much they smirk and show gratitude to you if you have to walk back to the clubhouse as the golf cart broke down on the far side of the golf course.

Which Best Golf Club to Choose

Which Best Golf Club to Choose

Article by Golfdancer123

No matter if you’re a Beginner, Intermediate or an Advanced Player. I believe it is hard to choose the best golf clubs that suit us. So here I am sharing my opinion with you.

Enjoying the game of golf requires many skills. Sometimes a shot requires distance and sometimes accuracy. Some shots we hit from a tee, some we play from short grass and sometimes even from oh-so-dreaded places like rough, sand and dry dirt (hardpan). Each of such situations will benefits from a different club you use. Based on our abilities, some shots will be relatively easy and some will be a pain in the you-know-what.

Case in point: If the challenge is a 200 yard carry over water to a rather tight pin on a small green, the proper choice of club for a beginner, intermediate or advanced golfer will be different. The beginner will need all the help and forgiveness possible (” swear, if I make this shot I’ll be a good person for the rest of my life”). The intermediate may need a little less forgiveness but still wants to be comfortable with their club. The advanced player may want more subtle characteristics of feel and clubhead response that a beginner can’t even imagine (? and still pledge to become a better person if the shot works out). In the past Continue reading “Which Best Golf Club to Choose”

The Golf Mind: You Will Never Be Golf’s Master

The Golf Mind: You Will Never Be Golf’s Master

Article by Richard Tyler

In this article, we are going to discuss the proper golf mind. Most of us don’t have it. A few, like Tiger Woods, certainly do. Today, we will look at a few essential thoughts that you need to have to improve your golf game.

We have all heard that golf is a game that is played “90% between the ears”. Obviously, this means that the proper golf thoughts are essential. Ironically though, few of us actually think enough about golf before we play. We bash balls for hours at the range and we usually get frustrated with each subsequent poor shot. Yet, this does not count as thought. It is action–physical practice–and it is bad practice at that.

One of the infrequently acknowledged things that we love about sports, and golf in particular, is this: It cannot be mastered.

Yet, each time that we go out to play we attempt to “master” the game and it cannot be done. Thus, we are left feeling dejected and that all of our practice yielded nothing.

Have you ever noticed that you typically play the back nine holes faster than the front nine? If you play a lot of public golf in California, as I do, you surely realize that 18 holes of golf takes a lot time. However, the back nine always goes faster.

Why do people play the back nine faster than the front nine? The reason is this: Golfers start hole #1 with high expectations, expectations of mastery. Their golf dreams for that day are quickly dashed, perhaps even on the first hole, as their hopes of becoming a par golfer are left unrealized.

Then, on the back nine, these people simply relax and play the game, not obsessing about their score–since that was already destroyed with two eights on the front side–and they begin to play better golf.

Two of the keys to great golf are humility and relaxation.

Humility allows us to realize that we can never be golf’s master. It will always be ours. The best female golfer of our day, Annika Sorenstam, has said that she will never be truly satisfied with her results until she shoots a 54. That’s a birdie on every hole which she never accomplished. Golf is a humbling game even for the world’s best golfers.

Allowing yourself to be humbled in the game of golf will allow you to enjoy the game of golf and relax. Relaxation is essential to a great game of golf.

If you are a fan of the game of golf, you watch a lot of it on TV. How often have you seen the best golfers in the world make an ugly swing? It does not happen frequently.

Two of the best golfers on the senior tour right now are Fred Funk and Loren Roberts. Using readily available Taylor Made Drivers, each of them swing easy and relaxed and both drive the golf ball straight down the middle an average of 270 yards.

So the next time you go out for a round of golf, remember two things. One, learn from your mistakes without getting frustrated. You will never be golf’s master. And two, make sure your swing is relaxed and flowing by asking yourself: Would that swing have looked good on TV?

Improve Your Golf Score with a Golf GPS Navigation System

Improve Your Golf Score with a Golf GPS Navigation System

Are you trying to decide on which golf GPS system to buy? GPS navigation has long been associated with the automobile. In fact, in every electronics store you can find many different makes and models of automobile GPS systems all with different features and specifications. But recently, a new type of GPS system has entered the marketplace. Golf GPS systems provide golfers a boost to play better golf.

How Can a GPS System for Golfers Improve Your Game?

Through the use of satellite technology, golf GPS rangefinders provide the golfer with the ability to see the entire golf course on the unit’s LCD screen. Golfers will be able to see helpful information such as the fairway, the putting green, water hazards, bunkers, distances and much more. If you are lucky enough to be equipped with a GPS, you will have a definite edge on the competition.

What Should You Look for When Purchasing a Golf GPS Unit?

Golf GPS devices are similar to automobile GPS systems in that they vary in price, size, features, accuracy, reliability and up-to-date data. Below is a list of things to look for when purchasing your first GPS system.

Display Screen

Just like automobile GPS systems and cell phones, golf GPS display screens have gotten larger as the technology has grown more advanced. Many models now have touch screen displays but there are models that still have buttons.

Quite frankly, some people do not like touch-screen technology. The main reason is that some find it hard to touch the correct item or image on the screen no matter how big it is. With buttons, you can always be in full control of the device and not have to worry about tapping it with your finger in a precise location. Another reason that button-controlled models will always be available is for those with long fingernails.

]]>

The preference between touch-screen and buttons is a personal one and should not affect which model you purchase. What you should look for is a screen that you can read easily, especially in the sunlight. This will be difficult to judge from a storeroom floor so you will have to read consumer reviews and product details carefully. And always purchase a model that offers a money back guarantee. In the end, you are looking for a readable display screen that is capable of minimizing the glare from the sun or light.

Additional Features

The more you spend the more features you get. And some of the features you find on golf GPS navigation systems will fascinate you. Some of the features include:

Extremely high-quality graphics and text

Higher resolution screen

Waterproof unit

Internal digital scorecard

Transfer data between unit and computer

Rechargeable battery

Three-dimensional display

Shock resistant

The price of the unit will correspond to the number of built-in features. In the end, you will want your golf GPS unit to do only a few things very well:

Have your golf courses pre-loaded (most important)

Measure shot distance

Good battery life if it uses rechargeable batteries

Easy to read display screen

Size and Weight

Size and weight is a personal preference. For most, you will probably want to be light on your feet when playing 18 holes of golf. It may be a bit uncomfortable to carry around a heavy cumbersome GPS unit. The goods news is that most units are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand so size should not be an issue.

Simple Setup and Ease of Use

How many times have you purchased a cell phone, digital camera or automobile GPS system and had trouble using it for weeks? In the end, a golf GPS navigation system should not be complicated to use. The last thing you want is to be standing on the 18th tee trying to figure out where the fairway is because your GPS unit is difficult to navigate.

Ease of use is a very important factor to consider when purchasing. Imagine having a complicated automobile GPS system that you dread using when you have to drive somewhere you have never been. Imagine sitting in your car hitting buttons and keys trying to figure out how to use it. By the time you enter the street address, you could have already been there.

The same holds true for golf GPS units. Try to find one that is easy to use. Once again, this may be difficult to tell on the showroom floor. However, you will get some good information by reading golf GPS reviews and other product documentation. If you go to the manufacturer’s website, you may even find a short video demonstrating the product. YouTube is also a great place to visit for product demonstrations.

Durability

Last but not least on the list of items to consider when purchasing a golf GPS system is the durability of the device. Let’s face it; your unit will probably get some heavy treatment. There will also be weather conditions to encounter. You will want to purchase a system that is shock proof with a heavy-duty belt clip. You should also look for a unit that is waterproof was well.

Purchasing a golf GPS device is much like purchasing an automobile GPS. They all vary price, size and optional features. Some are touch-screen while other are button controlled. Some are waterproof and some are not. As mentioned a few times above, there will be some aspects that you cannot test on the showroom floor.

The Simple Golf Swing by David Nevogt was one of the first Golf e-books available on the World wide web.

The Simple Swing is obtainable given that 2002. David Nevogt claims which you can drop your score by 7 strokes or more in less than 2 weeks. Let’s get real. No golf system can assure that you will lessen your score by 7-12 strokes in two weeks. That is what created me skeptical on the website of this product.

The reality is that David is not contemplating golfers who could by now break eighty sometimes and simply can not drop 7 strokes in just 2 weeks. Golfers in the higher 70s or very low 80s are pleased if they can reduce their score by 2-3 strokes constantly.

Simple Golf Swing Review – What are the outcomes?

I’ve employed the strategies in the simple swing ebook, and devoted 15 to the suggested drills each day for the first two weeks. If you have the time to invest 15 minutes 2-3 times a week for the next two weeks then examine on

I go through the Simple Swing manual twice just before I began practicing the drills. The drills and instructions are nicely structured and the details are explained step-by-step with photographs. I identified two illustrations hard to understand and it took me some time to know it effectively.

]]>

For two weeks I invested 15 minutes undertaking the drills at home right after I returned from operate in the evening. After three days I got utilised to the setup place and the downswing. The back again swing nonetheless felt slightly uncommon, as I did not move the body around my backbone prior to.

After another 3 days I went out to the driving assortment to determine 1st outcomes. The 1st 5 shots with a 7 iron did not fly in any respect. I rapidly checked the repair points – which are well explained in the guide – and discovered that my grip was incorrect. Right after correcting the grip and adjusting the length of the back swing I began to hit them straight persistently. It feels quite effortless and you keep a better handle making use of a three-quarter backswing.

The strategy is primarily based on the single axis swing exactly where your backbone is the axis for the rotation for your body, hands and the golf club. The backswing is a 1 piece takeaway. Each strategies assistance a constant and repeatable golf swing.

Right after two weeks I played my very first tournament utilizing the new swing?- I shot a 78, two strokes below my taking part in handicap. It is not 7 strokes as assured, but to be trustworthy I’m pleased to get lowered my score by two strokes in only two weeks. The swing feels easy and relaxed, with out any tension.

Conclusion:

The Simple Golf Swing is a stable golf swing approach which might be simply discovered and supplies good results. It’s essential that you simply do the coaching drills at least 15 minutes 3-times per week for the first 2-3 weeks to get the new actions automated and also to train your muscle memory. In case you just read the Simple Golf Swing e-book once and hope for far better outcomes devoid of practice you will acquire absolutely nothing from it.

The ebook and all the bonuses are . I like the chipping ebook which is offered as bonus. It offers a solid and repeatable chipping movement that functions really properly beneath strain. David Nevogt supplies a 8 week money back again ensure in the event you don’t see the claimed results.
