Putting Instruction For The Weekend Muni-Golfer

Putting Instruction For The Weekend Muni-Golfer

Article by Jim Masters

Look you could watch the golf channel all you want on putting instruction from all the teachers and pro’s but the bottom line if you are anything like me you don’t have the time to go out everyday and put their concepts to work. Like myself and most of the world we’ve got jobs and families that we need to make priority #1. But, when you have the opportunity to get out on a Saturday morning you want to make the best of it. Right?

Well, in this article I’m going to just give you a couple of tips that you can take with you to the course Saturday morning and make more putts!

The first thing you need to realize about putting is that you don’t want to think about hitting the ball. You want to think about rolling the ball to the hole. You see unlike hitting a golf ball, putting takes touch and finesse. If you simply step up to the ball and try and hit it you will not be able to control your distance.

So for the first putting instruction tip – Think roll the ball to the hole.

Second, don’t spend to much time trying to read the greens. Thinking to much in putting will only restrict your ability to make putts. What you want to do is just decide weather your going uphill or downhill. Is the putt going left or right. And once you get those two things figured out simply pick your line you want to putt the ball on and again think roll the ball to that spot.

So for the second putting instruction tip – Don’t spend to much time trying to read the green.

Lastly, focus your attention on making those 3 to 4 footers and don’t play to much break.

How many times have you hit a good drive, nice approach shot and left yourself with that 20 foot birdie putt and then just lipped out that putt and left yourself with that 3 footer left for par and stepped up and missed it turning that birdie opportunity into a disappointing bogey?

Well, I can relate. Because it seems like this happens more times than not. Those putts are crucial to you having a good round or not having a good round.

When facing those 3 to 4 footers make yourself stay focused and don’t play a lot of break. Simply make yourself concentrate on the back of the cup and make a good solid firm stroke and you will make more than you miss!

In Closing:

Putting instruction for the average weekend muni- golfer doesn’t have to be over complicated. Simply incorporate the tips I listed above and you will make your fair share of putts.

I hope you were able to get some good valuable information out of this article.

Ten simple trick to lay irons Nick Faldo’s 10 swing tricks

Nick Faldo is the 80-90 age golfer, has won six Grand Slam titles, now is the Golf Channel commentator. His profile is here. (From PBE Golf)

Here lay the iron of his 10 strokes:

1, the jaw is on the ball position

When I was 15 years old, my father took me to look at the British Open, held at Te Longen. The whole week and I ended up in the Champions Tom – Visco Puff (Tom Weiskopf) behind. He used the voice of a long iron shot left me a deep impression, which is one of the other people do not hit a ball. To hit the ball exactly like Visco Schwarzkopf, the head can not move during the swing. Anticipation, his jaw aligned ball position, swing the whole process should be to maintain this position. Mandible can rotate slightly, but do not bow. Throughout his career, I would do this.

2, the concept of sandpaper

Face with the ball when hitting the friction generated to produce a rotating ball and can hit the ball to the front. To lay in irons and short irons, you need a good grasp of these two aspects. Imagine the surface of a layer of sandpaper bar, hit the ball when there is friction with the club face is to the touch. Maybe not true, but you may wish to try. Need to do two things, this is me from Lee – Trevino learned there: the first is the head as long as possible to maintain the target line, the second when the ball is in your hands ahead of the ball position to ensure that .

3, the direction is more important than distance

I won the 1990 Masters, I remember I did not seem to hit a ball left or right side of the green, up to just play short or went through the green – this is Augusta’s been a lot of players do not know win tips. I remember back in the UK adolescence Welwyn Garden City Golf Club to play, that there was a short, narrow practice area, only with more than 7-iron short of the green iron offensive, so I pay more attention to the direction rather than distance . Today, the control distance is attention, I agree with this, but whether the swing is a sign of good or bad shot hit golf clubs for sale the ball straight. If you can better control the direction and distance it will be immediately accurate.

4, lay a short iron skills

The 20th century, late 70s, I worked in Kenya and Billy – Gaspar played a game. His short irons are the best I have ever seen. He does not play a lot of the inverted spin, on the contrary, the ball’s trajectory is high, but often with side spin. These are all skills. Do not try to use the sand wedge to hit 8-iron distance, in fact, long One of the club should be selected. This way you can play a strong rotation, and have a strong control.

5, the end to give serious practice

There are some limitations in the driving range. Such as whether the flight is hard to say how far the ball, and dropped to the ground and landed on the green effect is certainly not the same. Earlier, I like to go early in the morning Wentworth and Lake Nona, in all the time not to pitch the ball to hit four greens. I’m always in the fairway or light rough edges to complete the shot, so I do not overturned the fairway turf, and the fixed ball position. Every shot I will try a slightly different trajectory, this “real” practice makes you concentrate, which is in the driving range can not be achieved.

6, imitating good players

Read the 1973 British Open, I will imagine myself playing a three-two game. Is the same group with me and Johnny Visco Puff – Miller. I want to copy Miller’s mild right-hook, and his preparation for swing. I want to hit long irons with Visco Puff hit marks left behind. Imitation of those great players iron technology, drawing on the merits of their swing, combined with the characteristics of their own will be able to win.

7, do not over-adjust the ball position

If you want to adjust the ball position to hit high trajectory and low trajectory, the ball will not move forward or backward more than 1 foot. Anticipation, the three ball position should be slightly overlapping. If the ball position moves more than this limit, you will be in the swing is very complex process of adjustment to complete the action.

8, elevated the ball to practice

If you always hit the ball in the upper half of the steep angle, or to cut shot, are unable to lay irons. To find the right hit the ball with a 3-iron, the ball rack 2 inches high. If you are under the cut shot, cheap golf clubs for sale you will hit the top of the face; If you hit the ball above the ball’s trajectory will be very bad. This allows you to learn to sweep-style swing, head down slightly during the ball.

9 Do not use more than Bacheng swing strength

My first coach Ian – Cornelius (Ian Connelly) a lesson for me unforgettable. He asked me to do everything with a 7-iron hit the ball 6 times. Then I hit a 7-iron to relax the ball 6 times to 100 yards. Let me re-conducted after the ball 6 times, each time before the first increase in more than 10 yards away. Then I hit the ball the distance and began to make every effort to hit the ball as far, but now I almost did not send forces. This proves that the rhythm rather than power shot straight and far is the key.

10, try a different pars

1992 British Open, I hit the ball way to the ever-changing. I was able to hit different distances, not by the change of bar or rod, but then fell apart different. For example, “chicken wings” style through impact, your left arm does not rotate with the body, but the open side of the body, then the face will be slightly open during the ball, can play a mild right-hook . It was fun.

The origin of golf as the game we know today can be traced back to the mid 1600s in Scotland. From there its popularity spread across countries and continents and is now played all over the world. With the increasing popularity of the game, the demand for golfing equipment grew and several sporting goods manufacturers entered this niche market to cash in on the customer demand.

Golf clubs are an important part of the equipment. From drivers, irons, wedges and putters, there are various types of golf clubs that each golfer carries in his set. So which brands of clubs are considered the best? Here is a rundown on the top five in alphabetical order based on reviews.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline”>Callaway</span>

Since 1982, the company has been making a range of golfing equipment and accessories. It was initially famous as the best brand for beginners as its range of clubs were considered forgiving. Soon with endorsements from professional golfers such as Phil Mickelson, the Callaway brand improved its status. The brand gained the spotlight when it came out with the Big Bertha range of clubs. The current favorite among golfers is the Callaway X460, an all titanium 460cc driver that enables longer and straighter tee shots.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline”>Cobra</span>

This brand of golf clubs has been available in the market since 1972. It gained fame due to the Baffler range of clubs. Among the professional golfers who have endorsed Cobra in the past was Greg Norman, the former world number one. The brand has been taken over by Puma in early 2010. Current top sellers of this brand include the King Cobra and the Cobra S9 range of irons.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline”>Nike</span>

Although it was already an established sporting goods brand, Nike ventured into Golf only in 1984. Nike Golf is perhaps popular as a brand due to its endorser Tiger Woods with whom the company had signed a twenty year contract in 1985. The sporting brand manufacturer has been a popular brand for irons and its current range of Slingshot irons is a hot seller.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline”>TaylorMade</span>

The TaylorMade Metalwood clubs were the first to use metal in the manufacture of golf clubs in 1979. Until then, persimmon and wooden clubs were widely used. The ability of the metal club to drive the ball faster made this brand increasingly popular. At present, TaylorMade is a subsidiary of the German sporting giant Adidas. Latest clubs from the company’s stable include the 2010 TaylorMade Burner TP irons.

<span style=”text-decoration: underline”>Titleist</span>

Since 1962, the Acushnet Company, which owns the Titleist brand has been manufacturing and selling golf clubs. The company is best known for its Scotty Cameron range of clubs. In fact, Tiger Woods used this brand before Nike signed him on.
