Tiger Woods is the greatest ever golfer ever seen since the birth of golf in the early 1400’s. His superlative skills and professionalism towards the game of golf are second to none. This biography article will discuss Tiger Woods career, from the early days to his most prominent successes as a professional golfers.

Born Eldrick Tont Woods on December 30, 1975, in Cypress, California, USA, as the only child of an African-American Army officer father and a Taiwanese mother. His father began calling Woods by the nickname “Tiger” in honor of a fellow soldier and friend who had the same moniker.

Woods learned to play golf as a child, inspired by his fathers love of the game. His father, Earl Woods, served as his teacher and mentor. Around the age of eight, Woods had become extremely proficient at the game, which he enjoyed dearly, showing off his skills on such television shows as Good Morning America.

He studied at Stanford University, and won a number of  U.S. amateur golf titles before turning professional in 1996. Woods shot to fame after winning the U.S. Masters at Augusta in July, 1997 with a record score of 270 at the age of 21. Woods was the youngest man to earn the prestigious title, and the first African-American to accomplish this feat.

In his first appearance at the British Open later that year, Woods tied the course record of 64 under par. The next few years brought even more successes, including four US PGA titles, three U.S. Open wins, U.S. Masters wins and three Open Championship wins.

In the year of 2003. Woods’ won five PGA tournaments, some include the Buick Invitational and the Western Open. The next year, Woods won one official PGA Tour championship. While he may have had some challenges on the course, his personal life was running smoothly. Woods married his longtime girlfriend Elin Nordegren, a Swedish supermodel, in the fall of 2004.

Returning to dominate the sport, he won six championships in 2005 and was voted the PGA Tour Player of Year for the seventh time in nine years.

Woods experienced a great personal loss in 2006. His father, Earl, died in May after battling prostate cancer. Woods remarked on his website at the time, “My dad was my best friend and greatest role model, and I will miss him deeply.” Despite his grief, Woods returned to golf and won several events, including the PGA championship and the British Open.

The next season was marked by many wins personally and professionally. His wife gave birth to the couple’s first child, Sam Alexis Woods, in June, 2007. After taking some time off to welcome his daughter, he won the US PGA Championship and the World Golf Championship in August 2007.

The next month, Woods’ winning ways continued, garnering the top spot at the BMW Championship and The Tour Championship. He was named Player of the Year by the other participants in the PGA Tour and won his eighth Arnold Palmer Award for being the lead money earner on the tour.

Woods won the U.S. Open in June, 2008, in a 19-hole playoff, overcoming sporadic pain in his left knee from arthroscopic surgery performed on April 15. Woods shot a par four on the first and only hole of sudden death while American Rocco Mediate, 45, settled for a bogey.

The sudden death duel at Torrey Pines in San Diego followed an 18-hole playoff, which saw the two finish at par. In that playoff, Woods led Mediate by three shots after the first ten holes. Mediate then birdied three of the next five holes and took the lead. But on the final hole, Woods birdied while Mediate shot par, forcing the sudden death playoff.”I think this is probably the best ever,” Woods said. “All things considered, I don’t know how I ended up in this position, to be honest with you.” The victory gave Woods his third U.S. Open championship and 14th major title. He’s now just four behind the all-time record held by Jack Nicklaus.

Three days later, Woods announced he would miss the rest of the season because his left knee requires more reconstructive surgery. He also revealed he suffered a double stress fracture in his left tibia two weeks before the U.S. Open tournament, ignoring doctors’ advice to take six weeks off to let it heal.

Woods and his wife announced September 2, 2008, that they were expecting their second child in late winter. “Elin is feeling great and we are both thrilled,” Woods said on his Web site. “While my injury has been disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. I can’t begin to tell you how rewarding it is being a dad and spending time with her and Elin.” The couple welcomed baby boy Charlie Axel Woods on February 8, 2009.

Several weeks later, on February 25, 2009, Woods returned to the green in the Accenture Match Play Championship in Tucson, Arizona. Woods played against South African golfer Tim Clark, losing 4 to 2 in his first tournament since his injury. In June of 2009, Woods competed again in the U.S. Open. After putting a four-over-par in the first round, Woods quickly fell out of contention for the win.

In November, 2009, Tiger Woods travelled to Australia to compete at the Australian Masters at the prestigious Kingston Heath Golf Club. The great Kingston Heath Golf Club in located in Melbourne, Australia, in the lush sand belt of Victoria. Woods won the event by two shots (14 under par, with rounds of 66, 68, 72 ans 68) and earned 0,000 in prize money, a Tag Heuer watch and the Australian version of the green jacket, the gold jacket. Tiger enjoyed his stay in Australia and might return next year to compete in the title.

The Simple Golf Swing Review – How to Find your Perfect Golf Swing ????

The Simple Golf Swing Review – How to Find your Perfect Golf Swing ????

The Simple Golf Swing Review,An Honest Review About The Simple Golf Swing Review

Let me start off by saying that I was extremely leary about buying something off of the internet to help improve my golf swing. And come on, “The Simple Golf Swing”? Everyone knows a perfect golf swing like Tiger Woods is anything but simple. After reading some of the testimonials and since the price of the book was so low (I spend more on golf balls) I decided to buy the book because it is 100% guaranteed – if it sucked I would just get a refund. One of the main reasons I decided to buy the book was because I don’t have time to have a golf trainer or practice all the time. I surf pretty much any day there are waves in Florida and I have to go to college.

So I decided to buy The Simple Golf Swing and I spent a few hours reading it from front to back over and over. I decided I would just print the book out and bring it with me to the golf course in the morning so I didn’t forget anything. After a short surf session with my friends, we drove across the street to our local golf course in Melbourne Beach, FL.

Let me just put it this way, my friends were amazed at my golf swings and were convinced that I had a personal golf trainer. The first day that I had tried out the tips that I got from The Simple Golf Swing I improved my handicap from a 17 to a 13. I improved my accuracy and distance hitting the golf ball as well. This was just my first time using The Simple Golf Swing tips and they were definetly helping my golf swing.

Two days later I went back to the course and had even better results. It was a rainy day, so I wanted to test out some more tips that were in The Simple Golf Swing book. My first tee I had a great hit even with the wetness of the ball and club. I have never had a ball fly this straight and high in the rain before.

Every hole after the first was the same. I would’ve never dreamed of making such solid contact thru 18 holes. The ultimate test came on the 5th hole where I’m sitting at 200 yards out in the middle of the fairway on an uphill par 4. I grab my 3 iron which still looks new from lack of use and I nail it within 15 feet of the hole. I wound up shooting 80 and the only reason that I was that high, was club selection between my sand and pitching wedge. I was getting so much action on my sand wedge that 3 times I hit the front of the green and it sucked right back off the green. That’s the first time that has ever happened to me. To top things off my playing partner, seeing me hit so well, asked me what I’d changed. I gave him a brief lesson and within two holes he’s hitting them a far and as straight as I’ve ever seen him.

I honestly recommend The Simple Golf Swing even if you already think you are Tiger Woods. A lot of people have had success with The Simple Golf Swing and you can read more testimonials on their website.

What You Can Learn from Tiger’s Swing

What You Can Learn from Tiger’s Swing

In watching the PGA Championship this year, I marveled at how Tiger came from nowhere and finished in 3rd place at 2 under par (2 shots off of the lead).  If Phil Mickelson hadn’t hung on, this performance of Tiger’s could have tied or even won the championship.  It’s Tiger’s unbelievable perseverance that’s lead me to write this tip.

Tiger’s Perseverance

Have you also noticed that just when you think Tiger is totally out of it, he’s back in it?  Do you ever wonder why this is?  It’s because Tiger never gives up.  He knows that anything could happen in this game.  He knows the pressure that is associated with this game and the pressure that is put on the other players who are in the lead.  Tiger can withstand this pressure, whereas, other pros cannot.  He knows that in major tournaments, the field will usually come back to him.  So if he can grind away and just get a couple of shots back on the field he’s right back in the hunt.  If Tiger was someone who gave up when he was playing poorly, he wouldn’t consistently be in the top ten in the majority of tournaments he plays in.

The Difference Between You and Tiger

The major difference between how Tiger can grind his way back from a poor round, and you can’t, is that Tiger has the ability to re-focus and re-group.  After his poor play, he has given himself a reality check and has realized that he has to re-focus and re-group if he wants to get back in the game.  If you watch him when he’s in “grinding mode”, you will see that he totally slows everything down.  He thinks about what shot he is going to hit longer.   He stands over it longer making sure he is 100% committed before pulling the trigger.  He visualizes the shot and focuses on the target longer.   All of these things combined gets him back in the game.

When finding yourself in a sticky situation like this, you tend to do the opposite.  You dwell on the past.  You get mad at yourself.  You start over analyzing your swing.   You swing harder and harder.   All of these things tend to speed you up and hamper your ability to get back in the game.   This loss of focus sometimes ends up making you play even worse or play so poorly that you end up quitting which is something Tiger would never do.

How to Switch to “Grind Mode” Like Tiger

As you continue to play this great game of golf, you will always have your ups and downs.  You will never be great all of the time.  With this in mind, you really have to have a game plan the next time you lose your game.  In order to flip the switch and get into the “grinding mode” like Tiger, just follow these steps:

1.  Never quit – tell yourself that you are not a quitter in life so you shouldn’t quit while playing golf.

2.  Give yourself permission to make mistakes – realize that you will never be perfect while playing this game.

3.  Forget the past – think only about the shot at hand.

4.  Forget swing mechanics – think about swinging at an easy pace that you can handle.

5.  Focus even harder on the target you are trying to hit to – isolate the exact spot you want to hit to.

6.  Choose the right club for the situation – if in doubt, always take more club not less.

7.  Be 100% committed to the shot before you pull the trigger – you have to eliminate any doubt in any shot including putting.

8.  Take your time – slowing down calms you down and allows you to think more clearly about the shot at hand.

Now that you have a few ideas of how to “grind it out” or “re-group” try to take them with you the next time you go to play.  Who knows that bad stretch of holes may be closer than you think.

The Plush White Tiger and an Odd Member of The Cat Family

The Plush White Tiger and an Odd Member of The Cat Family

Like the real thing, the plush white tiger is not something you see everyday. Contrary to popular belief, white tigers are not a sub-species [of the tiger], but rather, get their unusual coloring from a recessive gene. Recessive genes are in no way connected to the plush white tiger, but they still are quite unique in the world of soft toys.

Another wild cat that isn’t on everyone’s radar, so to speak, is the margay. Sometimes referred to as a tiger cat, it’s very rare weighing no more than 7 pounds. Margay’s make their home in the rainforests of Mexico and Central and South America (east of the Andes mountains). Their fur is grey to cinnamon in color and is covered in dark brown spots. They have a round and short head and large eyes. Reaching lengths of up to 31 inches, their tail, which makes up 70 percent of their body length, is 20 inches long. They typically eat small mammals like rodents and monkeys, reptiles such as lizards, and birds.

The margay is the only species of cat that is able to climb down a tree head first like a squirrel; it’s able to do so by rotating its ankles around 180 degrees as it moves [down the tree]. It’s very adept at climbing and jumping and spends most of its time living in the trees. While the margay is known to be mostly nocturnal is can be active during the day. It’s a very elusive and secretive wild cat preferring to stay in parts of the forest that are the most remote and dense. Like tigers, they are a solitary animal except when it’s time to mate. Mating can takes place year round and after 70 days, females will give birth to one or two kittens, making a nest for the babies in a hollow tree hole.

The IUCN – International Union for Conservation of Nature – lists the margay as “near threatened,” which means in the near future, it’s quite likely it will face a high risk of extinction. Like so many wild cats, its main threats to its survival are destruction of its habitat and hunting for its fur. In addition, it’s often shot by angry farmers, who, according to the IUCN, do so because they raid stocks of poultry.

In a recently scientific documented case, scientists in the Amazon rainforests near Manaus, Brazil, heard a margay that was imitating the calling sound of a baby pied tamarin monkey. The high-pitched call is used to fool adult tamarin monkeys into thinking a baby [tamarin] in crying, thus moving them into the same vicinity as the cat whereby the margay will then attack if the opportunity should present itself.

Unlike the margay cat, white tigers can’t really be listed as “threatened” given there aren’t recognized as a species and there are none to speak of in the wild – they can only be produced by inbreeding a father who carries the white recessive gene coloring with a daughter, etc. A plush white tiger doesn’t have that problem, although you will find far more orange and black plush tigers than you will those that are white in color. If you have a love of tigers and are looking for something a little different in your stuffed animal, a plush white tiger is a terrific choice.

Is Tiger Out the Woods

Is Tiger Out the Woods

Is Tiger Out the Woods

by Relationship Expert, D Ivan Young

The only thing America loves more than it’s sports heros is the controversy surrounding them. At age 34, Tiger Woods has won 71 majors, still ranked number 1 in the world after having his worst year ever on the PGA tour, and is the first athlete ever to earn more than a billion dollars in income.  Unlike the average American, Tiger doesn’t have any financial worries, he can do what he wants, when he wants, how he wants. He is in what many deem to be an enviable position. Pretty much, Tiger can have anything his heart desires. With that stated, you would more than likely ask me, D. Ivan Young, Relationship Expert – why do you feel sorry for him?  The answer is simple. Money can’t buy love.  Without real authentic love, life means nothing.  With all the assets Tiger has, he’s an emotionally bankrupt lonely man.

“What profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul” is much more than a cliche.  It’s a grim reality for many successful people. Despite your profession, age, race or gender, being mentally and emotional broken can devastate the greatest champion.  Woods is no Exception. On May 5, 2006, his role model, commandant, mentor, best friend Earl Woods died. Tiger was devastated. Making matters worse Earl was also his Father. Earl was to Tiger what an anchor is to a ship in the midst of a storm.

From that day to now Tiger is nothing more than a lost cub.  From May 2006 to now he has been trying to find friends, bliss and contentment in all the wrong places. While searching for happiness, Tiger Woods lost himself.  He has become the PGA’s prodigal son. For the average person, losing a parent is difficult enough. But, when everyone around you sees you as potential revenue source; and you have lost the only person that kept you in check while reminding you of your purpose. It becomes increasingly easy to confuse human being with deity.  Especially when everyone around you has a hidden agenda and benefits from engaging your self destruction.

Like Tiger, I’m an only child; like tiger, my dad was everything to me; like Tiger, when my father passed I attempted to fill an unquenchable void with people, places and things only to find myself empty and more lonely; like Tiger, nobody truly understood how lonely, heart broken and alone I felt.  I could only imagine what my self destructive spiral would have morphed into had I had unlimited resources, not to mention a bunch of greedy self serving hangers on.  As a Life Coach, and Relationship Expert I’ve seen people self destruct with much less. Hurting people hurt people.

Though the World is a cruel stage for a fallen champion, the real victims aren’t his fans, but his wife and children.  Tiger, Elin and the two children are casualties of a wounded and hurting heart. I remember attending a horse race. The horse bumped into another horse, the jockey and the horse took a nasty fall.  Much to my surprise the emergency personnel ran hastily to horse. After checking the horse, they continued to check the jockey. At that very moment, I noticed the only thing most people were concerned about was their selfish agendas.  I haven’t been to a horse race since.  Tiger and his family are being treated in a likened manner. The press has exploited this broken situation to the extent possible. There is a serious lesson here. Never should we prize things over people. It doesn’t matter how many titles we win, how much we make, or our ranking on a board. If we forfeit the people that matter the most, what have we truly won. All of us help create Tiger woods, now let’s help his family and him heal. Though the settlement is measured in millions, there are no winners here. This divorce is a wake up call for all of us. The next time you feel you’ve won at anything make sure it’s not at the expense of those you love.

How to Play Golf – The Importance of Your Go-To Shot

How to Play Golf – The Importance of Your Go-To Shot

Article by Stephen Simmons

What Is A Go-To Shot?

Your go-to shot, is a shot you have practiced many times, and because it is repeatable has the greatest probability of success under the circumstances. You’ve seen Tiger hit his “stinger” many times under the stress of tournament conditions. You have seen many examples of the go-to shot when watching a PGA Tour telecast.

Tour players are willing to sacrifice significant distances to increase the odds of hitting the fairway. These players understand that the probability of hitting the green from 200 yards away in the fairway is much greater than hitting the green from 150 yards away in the deep rough, a deep fairway bunker, or behind the trees. They are willing to choose a club, even an iron, that increases the probability of hitting the fairway.

Finding Your Go-To Shot

Finding your go-to shot happens during a practice session on the range. This practice session needs to have your full attention and should not be part of your normal range practice.

Start by analyzing the range for structures that can be used as imaginary boundaries. Two greens or flag positions would be an example. The structures need to be the approximate width of a typical fairway on your course. One flag will mark the left rough, the left most position you can hit the ball without going into the rough. The right flag defines the right most fairway position. Your goal is to imagine a golf hole on the range that can be used to evaluate the success of several shots.

The next step is to select the longest club you think will be used on the greatest number of tee shots during a typical round of golf. Most golfers start with the driver. If you are a beginner golfer you can save yourself some time by starting with a three or five wood. Most golfers do not have the fundamentals to use the driver as their go-to shot. Even Tiger Woods has a go-to shot other than a driver. For 99% of us, the driver serves as a starting point that will not end up as our go-to shot.

Hit ten balls at your imaginary hole. Measure the results of the ten shots. How many shots stayed on the fairway and did not roll into the rough? If you hit more than 7 drives that stayed in the fairway you can congratulate yourself and then re-evaluate your imaginary hole to make sure that it is not too wide. You want this test to be difficult enough to really help you find a shot that you can rely on when the pressure is on. Your go-to shot should have a success percentage of at least 70 percent. Chances are that your success percentage with the driver was less than 70 percent, so go to the next club in your test, the three wood. Hit ten more balls using the three wood and measure the results.

Continue this process until you find a club that you can use that will get the ball into the fairway at least 70 percent of the time. You may find that you can only keep short irons in the fairway because your shot dispersion is to wide.

Identifying Your Ball Flight Tendency

The first time you try this test you may find that your shot dispersion is all over the range, some right and some left. The success of your go-to shot will be higher if you can identify your most natural ball flight tendency.

For Kenny Perry, his natural ball flight tendency is a right to left draw. The process of finding his go-to shot would be to aim down the right side of the hole and rely on his natural shot shape to curve the ball to the left and into the middle of the fairway. For a left to right player that hits a fade, the process would be the opposite.

In both of these cases the player is maximizing the space the ball can curve in the air, roll after landing, while staying in the fairway. All great players learn how to eliminate one half of the course or the other. It might seem that aiming down the middle of the fairway is your best option, however, that only gives you half of the golf hole to work with. Ben Hogan learned how to eliminate the left side of the hole which gave him the entire width of the fairway to work with. Jack Nicklaus also hit most of his shots with a left to right ball flight.

It will be much easier for you to find and practice a go-to shot if you can find your natural shot shape. If you hit a slice because you have an over the top club path, play your slice until you can straighten your shots.

Practicing Your Go-To Shot

For beginner golfers it is important to work with your PGA Professional to find your most natural ball flight pattern. Your goal should be to find a simple golf swing that repeats itself with reasonable certainty. If you want to change your pattern over time, work on that change during your practice sessions. Learn how to play golf by maximizing your opportunities for success. Learn how to play golf with your most natural ball flight tendency; right to left, or left to right.

For more accomplished players find the shot that has the highest probability for success. Your go-to shot will save you many dollars if you gamble or will help you win more competitions as a tournament golfer. Your biggest challenge will be learning a second go-to shot; the shot you can rely on if your primary go-to shot is not an option. What are you going to do if your primary right to left shot is blocked by a very large tree guarding the right side of the hole? Have you found a go-to left to right shot that can be played under these circumstances? If you can’t hit a left to right shot with any level of reasonable accuracy, what are your options for shooting the lowest number on the hole?

Regardless of your skill level, you need to practice your go-to shots during every practice session. You don’t have to hit a lot of go-to practice balls but you need to hit enough that keeps your confidence as high as possible so when it comes time to use the shot your ready.

You will also want to keep searching for the longest possible shot that you can rely on from the tee box. You may start out with a 2 iron as your go-to shot from the tee and then club up to a three wood with practice.

Go-to shots should not be limited to tee shots. You need to have a go-to fairway approach shot. and you need to have a go-to short game shot. Your golf scores will be lower, if during a round of golf, you only play golf shots that have been practiced on the range. Play golf like a pro. Find and practice your go-to shot.

Woods Wins But Not Tiger

Woods Wins But Not Tiger

Article by Marina

Some people may think that I’m talking about Tiger Woods. But it was not. I was talking about his awesome niece, Cheyenne Woods, who just won the ACC women’s individual golf title on Sunday.

More than 200 people were there to witness her final putt. She finished a career-best five under par with the victory. Then Uncle Tiger tweeted, “My niece, Cheyenne, just won the ACC golf title by 7 shots with Callaway X-22 Irons! That’s awesome, I’m so proud of her.” He added, “Now I am going to pick up some chicks, a six-pack of Miller Lite and it’s off to the blackjack table!” Okay, so he didn’t tweet that, but he very well could have.

It has been a while since any “Woods” has been a top the leader board, but I love that it is Cheyenne’s impressive feat making headlines, rather than her uncle’s shenanigans. To be clear, the last time Tiger won a tournament was at the Australian Masters in November 2009–only two weeks before The Incident.

Like her famous uncle, Cheyenne’s first coach was Tiger’s dad. Before attending Wake Forest, she played golf for Xavier College Preparatory and won back-to-back Arizona state championships in 2006 and 2007. In total, she has won more than 30 amateur tournaments, although the ACC title is arguably her greatest victory.

In 2009, she received an exemption to play in the LPGA Tour by Ping K15 but missed the cut by four strokes. I do not think we will be saying that often in the future. I also like the fact that she has replaced Michelle Wie as golf’s next “It” Girl.

Crazily, Cheyenne Woods is the third straight Wake Forest golfer to win the individual title. On the other hand, UNC won this year’s team championship.

While we are talking about The Dark Side, it should be noted that Prince Harry, Harrison Barnes, has decided to return to Carolina, along with the Muppet twins, Tyler Zeller and John Henson. I wish I could mock this or make fun of him, Winning Is More Important Than Swing but I give him props for making a great decision and putting school and winning ahead of money. God, I hate when UNC does something admirable.I wish I could mock this or make fun of him, Winning Is More Important Than Swing but I give him props for making a great decision and putting school and winning ahead of money.
