Titleist 910 D3 Driver, Highly Recommended in 2011

Article by Gracelee

I am a self confessed clubaholic and I have played all of the main brands tour models. The Titleist 910 D3 Driver hands down the best driver that I have ever hit. I bet, golf lovers, you will have the same crazy affection on this amazing driver.

This driver has a 17% thinner crown allowing more weight to be positioned lower and deeper in the bezel to optimise the centre of gravity and the bevel weights can be adjusted to alter swing weight of the driver. The Titleist 910 series incorporates Variable Face Thickness Technology (VFT) that mirrors the shape of the clubface with a thicker central portion that is equidistant from all points of the face perimeter resulting in an increase in maximum ball speed area and a 15-18% increase in total ball speed.

The driver delivers longer distance through a technologically advanced head design with a responsive, fast face insert that creates a ball-speed area that is 10% larger than other drivers. The patented, innovative, SureFit Tour dual-angle hosel provides precise and independent loft and lie adjustments to fine tune ball flight for more accuracy and control. High performance weighting and a sloped, ultra-thin crown design and an on-axis rear weight screw increases stability and creates a low and deep center of gravity for medium/high launch with medium/low spin.

This weight distribution lowers the center of gravity and moves it deeper back in the clubhead, which helps to improve stability by stopping the clubhead from twisting as much at the moment of contact, especially on those off center hits, to give golfers more accuracy and control off of the tee.

Titleist has sound optimised the 910 drivers for the frequency and duration of vibrations to ensure a solid sound off the clubface and are finished in a striking PVD Black with Black Pearl Paint. Cheap Golf Club Sets The Titleist 910 D3 driver has a slightly smaller 445cc head than the Titleist 910 D2 driver with a deeper face, giving an MOI figure of 4660 and a lower spin rate

An interchangeable shaft connection and rear weight screw provide enhanced fitting options and the full pear-shaped profile has a rich black, PVD and paint finish that instills confidence at the address.

This line driver comes with a headcover wrench, lined valuables pouch and SureFit Tour instruction booklet and a weight kit of 2, 5, 7, 9 and 12g bevel weights can be bought as an accessory.

Would You Be in Trouble for Callaway FT-5 Driver?

Would You Be in Trouble for Callaway FT-5 Driver?

Article by Cheapgolf

When it comes to golf drivers, players are often looking for the latest technology mixed with tradition. A lot of golfers seem to look for drivers that are customized to their personal playing style as well.

An example of a driver that incorporates advanced technology with a traditional club is the Callaway FT-5 Driver. It is an evolution in club head design utilizing Callaway’s revolutionary Fusion Technology.

The Callaway FT-5 Driver features the proprietary Fusion Technology that creates an unprecedented 50 grams of discretionary weight which is strategically positioned for a high Moment of Inertia (MOI) and precise lateral location of the centre of gravity (CG). This provides exceptional stability on off-centre hits, while enabling ball flight customization for optimal individual performance. The 25-gram weight located at the rear of the driver lowers the CG for optimal trajectory.

It also comes with the OptiFit Weighting System that enable golfers to customize their driver by giving them three CG locations to choose from in most lofts such as Draw for promoting a draw or reducing a slice/fade; Neutral for maximum workability; or Fade for promoting a fade or reducing a hook/draw. The larger, more robust CT/VFT (modified version of VFT Technology) Titanium cup face is designed specifically to maximize performance to the legal limit, as defined by the USGA Characteristic Time test, resulting in increased ball speed, distance and forgiveness, even on miss-hits.

The FT-5 Driver has a slightly open face for a look preferred by more accomplished players for producing exceptional distance, performance, accuracy and confidence. It also has a 460cc head volume is incorporated with a longer, wider and hotter face for more confidence at address, a higher MOI and increased ball speed for longer, straighter drives. The head is made in 9, 10, 11, and 13 degree lofts. Loft usually is measured in degrees, of the angle at which the face of the club lies relative to a perfectly vertical face. Technically, iron loft and wood loft are measured slightly different, but the effective result is the same. Loft gives you an idea of how far and how high the ball will go. It also comes with the standard Fujikura E-150 shaft which has a 45 inches length. This shaft comes in light, regular and stiff.

The driver itself looks a little cleaner than the origional FT-3, it was a little longer from front to back that gave it a little more modern shape without going to extremes like the FT-i. When I hit it, boy did it hit hard! The ball went high and straight as advertised and had more carry than any other driver I had tried. I was testing the 9* Stiff version and also got to hit their tour model. The tour model features a higher center of gravity, square to open face with neutral to fade weighting. This allows the better player to work the ball better and really get through the ball without the fear of hitting a big hook! I was able to work the ball with both, but had a better time hitting a draw with the standard version and a better time hitting a fade with the tour version for obvious reasons.

Overall, a solid driver that offers a lot of technology and more options than Baskin-Robbins. The Callaway FT-5 might feel different, sound different and hurt the wallet but there aren’t many better drivers on the market.
