Golf Swing Techniques-5 Tips How to Cure a Slice in Golf

Golf Swing Techniques-5 Tips How to Cure a Slice in Golf

Article by Terry Gorry

The 5 tips I set out in this article will cure your slice..and add distance to every club in your bag.If they don’t then golf is not the game for you..

Before you get into golf swing techniques in any meaningful way you will need to learn how to cure a slice in golf. Because your slice will cost you miles in distance in the course of a year’s golf.

Here are 5 tips to help you get rid of your slice..

Tip1-Strengthen Your Grip

This is the simplest way to get rid of your slice and it simply involves turning both hands more to the right (if you are right handed) on the grip of the club so that the vees formed by your thumb and forefinger are pointing to or outside your right shoulder.

Tip 2-Sort our your set up

Make sure that your shoulders are not open at set up. Ensure that they are square or even slightly close initially until you lose your slice because open shoulders will cause a downswing that causes you to cut across the ball at impact which will have you slicing all day.

Tip 3-Tilt Your Spine Angle to the right at set up.

This will promote an approach to the ball from the inside, not the outside which will encourage a draw shot.

Tip 4-Favour your right side in terms of weight distribution at set up

This will ensure that you are not hanging on your left side in the takeaway which encourages a reverse pivot and a steep approach to the ball through impact.

Tip 5-Release your forearms through impact

This involves a good free release through impact with the right forearm crossing over the left through impact and on into the follow through.

So before you get too bogged down in golf swing techniques, learn how to cure a slice in golf and these tips will have you hitting raking draws in no time.

These Golf Exercises Will Have You Hitting It Like Tiger.not That The Golf Ball Silly

The old days of the unfit golfer have gone for ever .Even if you are just a social golfer doing simple routines that will improve your game make sense.

The golf strengthening and conditioning exercises I am going to give you on this page will improve your game and have you feeling fitter and stronger.

The game of golf is now played in a much more athletic way then is was in the past. Players like Tiger Woods and Greg Norman have brought athleticism and fitness to the game. The routines in the gym that modern players like Tiger and Greg use have proven to be just as important as the time they spend practising on course.

Along with some gym exercises I am also going to give you some great stretching exercises that you can do at home or the office.

I will start with the all time best stretching exercises for Golfers.

 Stretch 1: The Oblique Twist

STEP 1: Sit down and slowly lower your back on to the ground until you are as fat as a pancake. Put your hands out directly from your shoulders to form a t shape, then lower them a little so your hands are pointing about 1 foot wide of your feet.

STEP 2: Raise your legs up whilst keeping your torso completely still, and then lower both legs to one side of your body. The key thing is to keep your upper body quite straight and rigid, as this will strengthen your obliques.

STEP 3: Simply lift your legs back up to the centre position and then lower down again to the other side.

By holding, your legs in the centre position for 30 or 40 seconds each time you will further strengthen your core.

Think about this exercise and then think about the motion your body goes through when you are hitting a shot. The twist with each golf shot put pressure on the obliques so strengthening them up has to make sense.

Stretch 2: The Oblique push down

STEP 1: Lie flat on your back and then bend your knees in towards your buttocks. Lock your fingers and place them behind your neck. like you are about to do a sit up.

STEP 2: Twist your left shoulder towards your left knee until the middle part of your back begins to lift off the floor. Twist until you feel a strain on your abdominals and hold for about 20 seconds.

STEP 3: Return back to your starting position and repeat on the other side.

Dumbbell Exercises

 Exercise one: Wrist Grip Power

STEP 1: Grab a dumbbell with each hand that is light and grip tightly, then hold each weight down against your sides. Lift both weights upward until your elbows are at 90 degrees and hold for 5 seconds.

STEP 2: Whilst tensing your arms and forearms simply twist your wrists at the same time in and then out.

As simple as this exercise sounds it will strengthen you wrists quickly and give you more control when chipping and driving.

 Exercise Two: Stance Power

This exercise will strengthen your quads and your hamstrings, which both play a role when you drive a golf ball.

STEP 1: Stand with your feet shoulder length apart, and hold the same light pair of dumbbells. Lower the dumbbells down against your sides about 10 centimetres wide from your thighs.

STEP 2: Bend down at your knees and stabilize, then spring up into the air. Land down in the knees bent position when you come down and repeat for 20 repetitions.

Over the next few days, I will detail a number of additional golfing stretches and weight routines. The main muscle groups that we will cover in the routines are the hamstrings, glutes, quadriceps, trapezius, triceps, abdominals and the rectus.

Using the exercises described above with the additional ones that I would publish shortly about three times a week will improve your power and endurance quickly.

Golf Swing Instructions for Beginners – Learn How to Swing Like a Pro

Golf Swing Instructions for Beginners – Learn How to Swing Like a Pro

Article by Matthew Barrett

Perfecting your swing in golf is one of the hardest tasks to accomplish. When you stance and swing are not done correctly, it can greatly affect your game in a very negative way. Following golf swing instructions and tips like those found below can help you get on the right track towards looking like a pro on the golf course.

Line Up Your Shoulders

The first golf swing instruction you should follow is to line up your shoulders. When your shoulders are properly aligned, the course you take with your swing will be straight and you can avoid making costly mistakes. Your front shoulder should directly face the target at which you are aiming. The trailing shoulder on the other hand should be square to the area you are aiming at. Your feet should be lined up directly under your shoulders and your knees should be bent slightly.

Grip the Club

The next part of our golf swing instructions involves gripping your club. You should not choke up on or squeeze the club. Instead, you should have a light yet firm hold on the club, with your fingers and palms in the correct positions. Line up your V’s and ensure that your grip is in perfect alignment with the ball and shaft of the club.

Rotate Your Hips

Rotating your hips to the back is imperative so that your shoulders are able to rotate fully to the begin stance for your backswing. When your hips are rotated or rolled properly, your weight should naturally rest on your back foot and your arms are to come up to the same height as your shoulders when you take the club back. Your arm and the shaft of the club should create an “L” shape. Proper use of the hips is an important part of golf swing instructions for beginners.

Roll the Hips Forward

After you have drawn back, you should begin propelling your hips back to the front. This should naturally turn your shoulders and allow you to bring your hands down and drive straight through the ball. Snapping your wrist forward as you hit the ball will allow for a straight drive that travels far and accurately.

Finish Your Swing

One of the most important golf swing instructions that many golfers often forget is to finish the swing. Many will hit the ball and once there is contact they forget to follow through. Without proper follow through, your golf game will suffer and you leave yourself open for hooks, slices and other common mistakes.

Instead of stopping immediately after the strike to see how you have done, instead push all the way through the swing until your arms are at least shoulder height. This will keep your ball on target and give you the maximum return.

Proper golf swing instructions can help you realize your full potential as a golfer. A weak or ill executed swing can cause all kinds of problems that could have you giving up on golf before you truly begin. The information above is a general breakdown of the steps you must take in order to perform a successful swing and start improving your game.

How to Correct a Golf Swing Slice

How to Correct a Golf Swing Slice

A golf swing slice can be very frustrating for the passionate golfer. To improve your game and lower your scores it is very critical and important to know how to correct a slice and fix it as fast as possible. If you really want to better your game and fix your slice then read on and use these 3 tips and techniques.

The first tip I would like to show you is the easiest one. Simply film yourself or ask a friend of yours to film you. Do your swing and after your training session have a look at the movie and analyse your moves. This is very helpful and you can see what went wrong with your golf slice. Like I said, it is simple and funny too.

Let us go on with the next tip. You need a good stance to stop slicing. Your shoulders have to be up and aligned to the ball or target. The right foot has to be pointed straight ahead and your left foot slightly to the left. Such a stance can make big difference to your game. A proper golf stance can lower your scores and your golf swing slice will be fixed quite fast.

The third tip I would like to give to you is a proper golf backswing and downswing. A proper backswing has to be a smooth move and starts with your arms and then the shoulders. Keep your eyes on the ball. Downswing is followed with the hips and arms. Again keep your eyes on the ball and do a proper golf swing.

If have listed some 4 bonus basic tips which you can use to lower your scores.

1. Doing some sports outside your golf game. As I mentioned above fitness is important to get a good stand while swinging. I would suggest to go cycling or play tennis. Just something you are interested in. Fun is a big point here. I like playing soccer.

2. You need your own clubs. Try a few clubs that fits to your needs. Are you tall, then you need longer ones. Do not expect good results when you use your friends clubs! So, get a own set of clubs.

3. When you buy clubs you have to consider the shafts and the materials. This depends on your needs like height, weight and swing speed. There are quite a few more factors you have to take care of.

4. At least but not last, your mental fitness has to be good. Concentration during a game is crucial if you want to beat your competitor. There are some good guides that may help you. Some of my friends are doing yoga, but that is not for me.

You see the right training can stop your golf swing slice. Regular training systems can do wonders.

Next, you want to go on and see what kind of training guides and methods are available to correct a slice.

Golf Slice Cures – How to Fix a Golf Slice and Outdrive Your Friends in Days

Golf Slice Cures – How to Fix a Golf Slice and Outdrive Your Friends in Days

Article by Terry Gorry

You can outdrive your friends in days if you show up at your club with a draw as your secret weapon. This article gives you 3 slice busting tips to do just that.

Tip 1- Don’t cast or come over the top in the downswing.

You need to swing from inside to out, not out to in. To do this you need to be patient in the downswing and think of 1 word..”Wait”.

Wait to let the club come down in front of you and then, and only then, turn.

Think of down before the around and you will hit raking draws in no time. But if you do the ‘around’ before the ‘down’ ie spin the shoulders open too early you will hit pop up slices all day because the path and plane of your swing is all wrong.

The casting or over the top move at the start of the downswing is a major distance sapper because it sets up an out to in cutting across the ball action which will leave you slicing your way around the course all day long.

Tip 2- Start your downswing from the ground up.

This ties in with Tip 1 and means that your weight should shift back in to your left heel early in the downswing, setting up a nice in to out draw inducing draw.

To do this you can replant your left heel to initiate your downswing, if you raised your left heel in the backswing.

If you did not raise it in the backswing, you still need to ensure that you get your weight back into your left heel in the throughswing by a smooth transition of your weight back towards the target to initiate your downswing.

Tip 3- Have good rhythm

Don’t lunge at the ball from the top of the backswing.

This tip ties into the previous 2 and if this means that you slow your swing right down to get this right, then do that at the range and work on it until you build your confidence and know that when the adrenaline is pumping you will have trained your muscles through muscle memory to swing on the correct path.

Your distance sapping slice will never allow you be the player you know you can be.

How to Putt Better In Golf Games

How to Putt Better In Golf Games

Article by Golfdiscountsale2

A lot of attention is given to driving; however, a game can be won or lost in a putt. Just as a good putt may make up for a less than perfect drive a bad putt can destroy any benefit that comes from a great one. The ability to make a good putt is essential. It makes a great deal of sense to put in the time to learn how to putt better in golf, for the future dividends that can be recouped.Select the right tool for the job. With so many good putters to choose from it can seem confusing and difficult to choose correctly. A good place to start would be to read putter reviews online and see what other people are having success or failure with. Many golf shops have an area where you can test out a putter before you buy it as well. Putting is a key part of the game, and your putter needs to become one of your best friends.Keep in mind that the movement of the putter is the direct result of the rotation of shoulders and neck. Hand and arms should be relaxed during the stroke. Excess movement may create a problem with accuracy. For a golfer to discover how to putt better in golf they first have to learn control. Putting is a skill of precision. The head, neck and lower body should remain motionless in the stroke. When you come to address the ball, make sure the putter’s head is behind the ball but above the green. Make sure the club head is not resting on the green, but hovering slightly above it. The last thing you want to do is strike the ground, as this will have disastrous results. Keep your legs spread a little wide and your feet straight and firm on the ground. Get your balance in check and get comfortable, and more importantly, confident.Such actions are largely the domain of the subconscious mind. It is a combination of will and skill. A normal progression when learning new skills applies equally to golf. The individual starts by being consciously terrible at golf, and then they become consciously good at it. The magic happens when finally they start to become unconsciously good at it, when all the movements come together. At this point they find themselves able to perform them without consciously thinking about what they are doing. To reach this stage requires lots of practice. There are many ways to do this. (TaylorMade Rescue Hybrid 2009) Try using several balls and hitting them a different distance. Use this drill to educate yourself about putting power versus distance. Remember accuracy is most important. A balance must be achieved. Practice, practice, and aim to learn a new drill every week.Creating a routine helps players perfect their putt. Choose a line and commit to it. This helps align the brain with the eyes, and consequently create a straighter putt. A common mistake is moving prematurely after the putt. Keep still until the putter halts and track the ball visually. If you’re busy however, it may seem like there’s not enough time in the day to fit all of these suggestions in. A great way to multiply the effect of whatever practice you do get is to use golf putting aids. These help you focus on the exact things needed to strengthen key areas of your game. It could be that your swing is more to the outside or inside, in which case there are laser guides or putting gates that help to make sure the swing is flawless and a flat face presented to the ball. (Mizuno MX-950 Irons) Those who just need practice may find putting mats and golf ball retrievers are an ideal combination to fit more of the practice that matters into a one or two hour session.Familiarize yourself with the way you must hold the grip for putting. Proper grip, as always, is a key component of your golf game in putting just as it is in the long game. Ensure you get back to basics by mastering stance, grip, and the motion of the swing. In putting the motion of the swing is best described like a pendulum. You must ensure there is no motion in the wrist, and instead focus on that smooth pendulum swing. Developing your muscle memory of that straight motion will help with consistency. Make sure that your hands move together with your arms, all in a single well-coordinated unit. The less varied your game is the better.Reduce your head movements to the minimum, and keep it motionless throughout the stroke so that you are concentrating on one thing, getting the ball in the hole. Don’t look up during the follow through but instead listen for the sound of the ball dropping. Many errors can creep in when players take their eyes off the swing too early. As with all things golf, practice always helps. Get in as much as you can. Train on the green until you can get the ball consistently to the hole. When it comes to any puts you make that are within eighteen feet, always aim to get them within eighteen inches of the hole. To master the art of reading the green, consider one side of the hole then the other. Things often look very different when you view them from behind your target.Practice makes perfect and the more practice the better. Try to implement these golf putting tips in your game, keep practicing, and keep playing. Success is just around the corner.

Golf Slice Cures – How to Cure Your Golf Slice in 3 Easy Steps

Golf Slice Cures – How to Cure Your Golf Slice in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1

The first place to look for a golf slice cure is your grip. Strengten it. Turn both hands more to the right so that the ‘v’ s formed by your thumb and first finger are pointing outside your right shoulder.

This is a pretty dramatic move but will give you the sensation of hitting a draw or hook pretty quickly. When this happens you will fill with confidence and soon will be able to aim down the right hand side of the fairway and know that your ball will draw back into the middle of the fairway.

Don’t overdose with this cure though..after a little while if you are getting into trouble on the left hand side of the course you can tweak your grip again, but this time you will be doing it with the confidence of hitting draw shots rather than slices and your set up and alignment will improve as a result.

Step 2

Make sure your set up and alignment are spot on..when you slice you will overcompensate for this by aiming to the left. The result of this is that you can acquire the bad habit of open shoulders at address. Playing with a stronger grip will automatically force you to turn your shoulders slightly more closed rather than open.

Step 3

Work on your release through impact. What you need to aim for is a full flowing release with the right forearm climbing up and over the left through impact and into the follow through.

Practice this release without a ball and work also on swinging the club about knee height and watch as the club closes through impact.

Still slicing? Close that clubface earlier in the downswing.

Tips for Correcting a Slice in Your Golf Swing

Tips for Correcting a Slice in Your Golf Swing

Here we’re going to discuss one of the most common issues with the golf swing… the dreaded golf slice. There are seemingly countless issues that can led to slicing in the the golf swing, and we’ll discuss some time-tested corrections that can help you get rid of that slice in your golf swing.

Address

One of the most frequent causes of the slice happens during address. Most golfers prefer a square stance at address, where the feet, hips, and shoulders are in line with the target. If you move your left foot too far forward, the club face is likely to open at impact and the ball will fly to the right. The left foot should be directly under the left shoulder. The same holds true for the shoulders and hips. Unless they too are square at impact, the ball will not fly straight and true. Your body must be in complete alignment and totally square to the ball when the club hits the ball. That’s the first step…

Grip

The next step is correcting the grip. Many newer players grasp the club too tightly, which can cause the club head to open as it strikes the ball. Again, this will make the ball fly to the right. If the grip is too loose, the head will wobble at impact and that, too, can lead to slicing or hooking. There are several different types of grips, but to cure the slice in your golf swing, start with a neutral grip. It works for the majority of golfers, and it’s a good base to start and it’s easier to make adjustments from a totally neutral position. To check that your grip is neutral: you should be able to see two or three of your left-hand knuckles. If you cannot see any knuckles at all, this is a sign of an improper grip. As your hands come back into the hitting zone, they will rotate to a neutral position, causing the face to open.Rotate your hands—not the club, just your hands—until you see a couple of knuckles. Try hitting a few balls using this new grip. Keep in mind that minor adjustments to your grip can go a long way. Keep working at it until you discover the right position for you. Once you have it, remember it!

Tempo

When correcting a slice, swing tempo is important. Many golfers have a tendency to try to use their arms as their power source to get some extra yards, but this almost never works. Once they get to the top of their backswing, they allow their hands to take over and lead the downswing. As the hands come down, with everything else following, the club face will almost undoubtedly open. From start to finish, your swing should be smooth and relaxed. Avoid the temptation to jerk the club once you get to the top of your backswing. Let your hips start the downswing and everything else will follow.

Above all, correcting a slice is a matter of finding the one or two things you are doing wrong and fixing them. This, of course, takes time and patience. If you work through the possible causes, you will eventually find the solution, and your enjoyment of the game will soar to new levels.

How To Improve Your Golf Swing-Neutralise Your Golf Grip

How To Improve Your Golf Swing-Neutralise Your Golf Grip

One way to improve your golf swing is to neutralise your golf grip.Firstly you will only hook the golf ball if you swing the club face closed at impact. The majority of golfers that hook the ball display a ‘strong grip’,where the hands are too far to the right of the handle.Golfers will swing the club too much from the inside of the line, with the hands, arms and body struggling to hold the clubface open at impact.Weakening the grip will help stop the club face closing on impact.
Secondly,a common fault with a lot of golfers is the stance. The width of stance will vary slightly
according to the golf club you are using. As a general guideline,i recommend that the stance for the 5-iron should correspond to the width of your shoulders.Check your stance regularly when you practise.A wide stance will give you good stability but less mobility.A narrow stance will give you more mobility but less stability.
Thirdly, getting your posture right will make playing the game easier. The reason for this is that your posture controls the balance points in your swing, and good balance is key in helping you develop your game.
Start by placing your thumbs on your hip joints, this is to where you bend from the hip joint.
From there lean forward putting your weight on the front of your feet. Finally flex your knees, feeling the pressure on your thighs.Hope this helps, happy golfing.
