Buying golf equipment may seem like a fairly straight forward task for most people, you want to buy some clubs that will last and are solidly built for the rigours of a round of golf at the weekends. If you haven’t bought any of these clubs before then you may want to see if you can practice with a club before buying, whilst some retailers won’t allow you to take the club out and start hitting some golf balls there are some club shops that will have a demo model that you can take on to the driving range.

Making sure that you are comfortable with the club is important as you’ll be using it for a long time and likely be spending a lot of money on them as well. Some golfers will return clubs or trade them in when buying replacements and this may be a way to try and cut some money off the cost of your golf clubs as many golf discount stores sell these clubs that may have hardly been used and be in perfect condition.

Make sure you take good care of your clubs and make sure they are stored somewhere secure when you aren’t using them. Golf clubs can last you many years or only a few and it all depends on how well you look after them.

We divide hybrids into two categories: “Better player” (Callaway Diablo Forged Irons) and “Game-improvement” (13 to 21 handicaps). In addition, players with 7 to 15 handicaps tested “game-improvement” fairway woods. Individual testers tried all the models in a particular category on the driving range and on the course. Testers offer feedback on Look, Feel, Playability, Forgiveness and Distance.

Our exclusive research partner, Hot Stix Golf, custom-fit all 40 testers. Hot Stix fitters used the TrackMan launch monitor to capture data for the testers’ current fairway woods and hybrids. (All test clubs also went through a diagnostic evaluation.) Fitters used the data to recommend a match between testers and test clubs.
