Putting is arguably the most important skill in golf.

Forget about reading the green until you have mastered pace. Getting this right comes from developing a smooth putting rhythm.

1.Very few top golfers break their wrists when they putt.

4.Follow through to the hole with your club, not your eyes.

It is good to practice keeping eye contact on the spot where the ball was rather than trying to see where it has gone.

Practice counting two seconds in your head before you allow yourself to see how well you’ve done.

Getting that ball in the hole is what it’s all about.

Pace is the most important factor in a good putt and direction the second.

You can only judge both of these once you’ve had a good look round.

Good golfers begin assessing the green as soon as they have hit their approach shot. They know there are many factors which influence the ‘break’ or ‘borrow’ of a green.

For instance, many golfers believe a putt will always break towards nearby water.

1.Begin analysing your putt as soon as you arrive on the putting surface. Bobby Jones said he could feel the grain of the green beneath the soles of his moccasins.

Most golfers mark their ball so they can wipe it clean.

You can use anything to mark your ball – most people use a coin or special marker pin.

Walk around the putt to assess it from all angles. Look beyond the green too.

If you don’t have to putt first – take note of what happens to your playing partners’ efforts.

2.Tiger Woods is rarely seen without his baseball cap – but it’s more than a fashion accessory. Its curved brim helps to block out distractions and focus on the line of the putt.

And when he’s standing over a putt it helps him make sure his eyes are directly over the ball.

That way he knows he is looking right down the target line to the hole.

3.Pick your spot and aim at it – not the hole.

If you think that the putt is going to move three inches from left to right, pick a spot three inches to the left of the hole.

Focus on a blade of grass and concentrate on rolling your ball over it. Visualise the line curving from your ball to the cup.

4.Don’t forget to take account of others factors, such as wind and the grain of the grass.

The ball only weighs an ounce or so on windy days, the breeze can have a big effect. Most grass does not grow straight up.

Putts that go with the grain of the grass will also move quicker than those against.

The curveball grip is fairly simple and, unlike other pitches, allows a pitcher to maintain a good grip on the ball, and therefore, control, and throwing an effective curveball involves more than just your arm. There is no specific moment when a coach or parent will say it is time now to throw curving ball. However, the proper age for the player to be able to throw curving ball is 14 or 15 years old. If young players throw curveballs on a consistent basis at younger ages they can cause damage to their elbows and thus hinder the growth process.

The mechanics of throwing a curveball are completely different from a fastball. The path of the ball on a fastball is generally far from your head. In the case of a curveball, the path will be much closer to your head.

There are several key elements to the curveball that must be followed in order to throw the pitch properly:First of all, start out by hiding your baseball in the palm of your glove. There is no need to advertise what type of pitch you are about to make. The same applies to your windup. Do not use it to advertise what you are about to do. Keep the batter guessing for as long as you can.

Grip the ball with your middle and index fingers together, with the fingers across the seams of the ball at the widest part (the widest distance between the seams). Keep a tight grip on the ball, especially with the middle finger. Don’t let the ball touch the palm of your hand, or you won’t generate enough topspin, which is what allows the ball to drop when it gets close to home plate.

Practice developing your speed as you master your form and stance. Speed is a very important factor in your delivery. Curveballs with little speed are easily hit by the batter as any batter that is any good will seek to determine the particulars of the pitch and respond accordingly. The more time the batter has to gauge the speed and angle of the throw, the easier it will be to successfully launch your curveball into the outfield

When releasing a curveball, your wrist will be hooked and your hand will pull down in front of your body. It is important that you release the ball close to your body (Short Arm). The further you release from your body, the less resistance your middle finger will have on the seam and therefore your rotation will be looser.

Practice till you get it correct every time.

The best hand position is to interlock your hands with the little and ring fingers of your dominant hand connected to the index finger and middle finger of your complimentary hand (it is not called the weak hand). Straighten Your Spine

Keep your spine straight and let it act as the axis of your pivot. This is something that no golfer should underestimate when it comes the execution of the proper golf swing. Rotation Of The Hip

Now that you have got your spine acting as an axis and your hands interlocked and firmly gripping the club, you must concentrate on removing the rotation of the hip in your quest for the proper golf swing. Golf is not boxing where a lot of punch can come from the swinging of the hips. If you swing your hips in golf, you will get only your slice and your hook. Therefore keep your hip rotation to a minimum. But this is not the beginning and the end of golf.

Find out just how much hip rotation you can allow before it spoils your proper golf swing. Follow these tips, practice regularly and see if it does not improve your game by getting rid of the slice and by being more accurate and achieving a good long shot.
