Sources for Choosing Your Golf Clubs

Article by T.L.Stewart

When purchasing new golf clubs most of us know it is not an easy project, but doing it correctly will pay great dividends in the end.

Research is the key to open up a multitude of avenues including giving some golf clubs a tryout which is essential in making the correct choices.

Keeping this in mind you should be very specific in your choices and make sure you choose the proper resources. Stores specializing in golf products are an excellent choice but you can’t always rely on the store salesman, some know what they are talking and some don’t. Remember the old saying; “buyer beware”.

Following are a few thoughts on searching out the best resources for choosing golf clubs and how take advantage of them.

Since you are reading this article you no doubt are aware of the power of the internet. The internet will provide a multitude of sources dependent on the special features you are looking for including custom clubs made to your specifications. You can find many sources catering to your specific needs.

Just use google or any other search engine. Very Simple. As you look around the web you will find some sites more appealing than others and some providing more information than most. The sites you find that are most interesting and appear to satisfy your needs should be bookmarked for future use.

A word of caution here. It is suggested you stick with the sites you may be familiar with by name or recommended by reliable sources. Your chance of being satisfied with your purchases will be much higher. Also, if you subscribe to or have access to a few golf magazines there is usually an article or section offering guidelines for buying golf clubs or reviews of the latest additions to the market. If you are interested in a major brand it would be a good idea to search the golf magazines or back to the internet for any professional critiques on the golf club of your choice. Reviews are fairly easy to come by. Just go the internet and click on the home pages of the golf magazines or search for “review of xxxx” However, be aware you may run across good and bad reviews so be very selective in making a pro or con decision. Be sure you separate the advertisements from the reviews.

Another great source is your local golf club you play at. I’m sure there are may golfers using some of the same clubs you are interested in and they can provide some excellent performance information. They may even offer to let you try a few.

Another good source is to visit some of the golf forums on the internet. These are folks that have a love for the game and are usually responsive to your questions or when asking for advice.Forums are a source you should actively get involved with. It gives you a chance to meet and share with fellow golfers with the same interest. You can always get some good ideas.

Giving all the above the consideration it deserves keep in mind the best way in choosing a golf club is to try one out yourself. It would be great if you can get one to use on the range, but I know this is not always possible. However, I know several golf stores have hitting nets and the customer is always welcome to try out new golf clubs. Some of them even have equipment that will time the speed of your swing, etc.

All in All there are many sources for meeting your specific needs but remember whatever club you choose it won’t make a difference unless you practice, practice, practice.
