Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter Review

Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter Review

Titleist Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter is one of the best putters which are widely welcomed by golf players. How about the specifications of it? What about the feeling and performance? Is it the best one for me? You will find the answers following.

The Studio Select line is the result of Scotty Cameron’s Putter research and their drive to create a putter collection with the finest technical performance and incredible overall feel. The precision milled 303 Stainless Steel Newport putters feature an improved high toe profile and heel and toe circular sole weights that allow for numerous length options in each odel.

The circular heel-toe weights provide amplified stability by reducing head rotation on off-centre impacts for a larger sweet spot. The factory adjustable weights are set to provide the proper headweight-to-shaft length combination. The improved high toe profile of the Studio Select Putters feature a stepless shaft for a clean look and offer a soft but solid feel and are equipped a new Scotty Cameron red cord grip.

Design: Tour proven Newport-style putters with bold red graphics, high toe profile, and heel & toe circular weights.

Construction: Precision milled 303 Stainless Steel body with factory adjustable Stainless Steel heel & toe circular weights.

Grip: Red Cameron cord

Headcover: Silver with bold red tour graphics

I’ve spent the last two years using a Studio Style Newport 2 and really like the softer feel of the insert, so even though the Studio Select Newport 2 looks similar, (Titleist AP2 710 Forged Iron ) I was a little hesitant to give up the feel to which I’d become accustomed.

For those of you who didn’t like the German Stainless Steel (GSS) insert on the Studio Style line, it is now a thing of the past. The Studio Select putters are milled from a block of 303 stainless steel and provide a slightly different feel and sound compared to the GSS insert of the Studio Style. I actually grew to like the insert of the Studio Style so this was a little bit of change for me.

I’ve been putting with a Scotty Cameron Studio Style Newport 2 for the past couple of golf seasons so I figured “hey, it can’t be that big of a difference.” Well, not exactly.

I’m not sure what the difference between German vs. American stainless steel (or any other country’s stainless steel for that matter) but I had grown accustomed to the soft feel of the insert and almost hated to see it go. After two years of getting used to that particularly soft feel and the more muted sound, I noticed an immediate change when I switched to the all-milled Studio Select.

As for feel and feedback, the Studio Select provides a good amount of both. When struck perfectly (or very closely to), the feeling is very smooth with a subtle bit of “springy” feeling that lets you know you caught it on the sweet spot. Off-center hits feel a bit “clanky” and produce a different sound. (Titleist Scotty Cameron California Sonoma Putter) These aren’t super-high MOI putters (though they will help some), so you are not rewarded much on poorly struck putts. The putt still rolls nicely and very nearly online, but your distance will suffer some and you can definitely feel the difference.

I really like the direction Scotty Cameron is going with all the customization options you can make to the Studio Select line. Being able to chose a weight/length combination that is the best for your individual putting stroke makes this a must-try when you are out shopping for putters. I found this to be a very solid performer and if you like a blade-style putter, you owe it to yourself to give one a shot.

The Top 3 Ways For Federer to Beat Nadal

The Top 3 Ways For Federer to Beat Nadal

It’s not enough for Federer that Rafa Nadal is a great tennis player.

It’s also a challenge because Nadal plays left handed.

The problem is that most people Federer (and you) play are right handed, so he and you become used to certain patterns of play and positions on the tennis court.

When the lefty comes along, everything you know about the game seems to go out the window and if you are not careful your strong shots are dealt with easier and your weaknesses are more exposed.

Here are the top 3 adjustments you need to make to your tennis game when coming up against a left handed opponent.

Adjust Your Position On The Return Of Serve Position

Because the natural path of the ball from a lefty’s tennis serve like Nadal is to your left, you need to adjust your returning position.

By moving over to the left to return serve (on both sides) you will be in a better position to return their best serves as well as forcing them to try to hit what for them is the slightly harder serve.

In the deuce court the harder serve for them will be the kick serve out wide and the sliced serve down the centre from the ad side.

The most overlooked aspect in all of this is the fact that you will be showing them that you are aware of what’s happening on the court and you will force them to do some thinking of their own and not just serve their favourite serves and play on autopilot.

Believe me, with most players that will lead to an increase in double faults and free points for you!

Work On Your Backhand Up The Line

Because Federer and us rightys tend to want to play our backhands cross court, this can cause a problem when we play leftys as we tend to hit into their strength – the forehand.

Also, leftys are happy to get the ball on the forehand and hit it crosscourt into our backhands.

By working on the backhand up the line you can switch play so that they hit their backhand cross court into your strength (your forehand).

You may even get the chance if they try to go back up the line on your backhand to run around the ball and hit an inside out forehand.

One word of caution here, you will find many left handers (esp. Nadal) are quite good at creating wide angles from their forehands to your backhand.

If that happens, don’t try and go down the line as you will be way out of position for the next ball – you must try to go deep and cross court!!

Don’t forget When They Come To The Net

One other thing that you also need to do is to adjust what you do when a lefty comes to the net.

Because you often don’t have a lot of time when this happens it’s easy to play on auto pilot.

The problems arise when you try to put up a lob.

You should know that a lob over the backhand side of your opponent is the most effective.

Well, when you put up your normal lob for your right handed opponent this ends up going to the leftys forehand and gets crushed!!

Not only do they win the point but it pumps them up and gives them extra confidence – NOT GOOD!!

You can just see Nadal pumping his fist after dispatching an easy overhead.

Conclusion

These adjustments may not help Federer to beat Nadal as I’m sure he is aware of them, but they will most certainly help most of the club players out there when they come up against lefty opponents.

Start using them today!

Also try to search out some left handed people to practise with.

This will prove invaluable when you have to play one in a match.

Golf Slice Cure Tips

Golf Slice Cure Tips

Article by Mike Murray

One of the problems most golfers have is slicing the golf ball. It causes great frustration and some struggle for years hoping to improve this problem. There are many tips and tricks to eliminate the problem, it’s up to you to identify which areas of your game, grip or stance needs work.

Proper GripStart by moving your hands until they are in proper golf grip position. Take the club in your left hand and place your thumb on the shaft. If the line between your thumb and your index finger is pointing towards your right eye then it’s placed correctly. Now you have to wrap your right hand over the left hand and place your left thumb on the palm of your right hand.Avoid gripping the golf club too tightly if you are right handed, it could cause the ball to hook towards the left. But you could cause the ball to slice towards the right if your grip is too weak; therefore you have to practice having a neutral grip when holding your golf club.

Proper StanceEnsure that your shoulders are aligned with the ball. You are allowed to adjust stance to feel comfortable, but stance does play quite a big role when it comes to eliminating golf slice. Pay close attention to how you stand and address the ball – if you are doing everything else right but still slice the ball, you might want to practice your stance in the mirror and see if you find any areas to improve.

Tips to Avoid Golf Slice* As mentioned previously as well, the easiest to fix is your grip. Don’t tighten up when you get nervous, relax and keep the grip as neutral as you can.* If nothing you try seems to work – experiment with a stronger grip bit by bit. This won’t work for everyone and it should be something you try when nothing else seems to work for you.* During the downswing, your left hip will be leading and during the early downswing it will be your right shoulder that lowers and your right elbow should return to your side. A slice will be produced if your elbow is flying or flapping in the breeze, you must avoid this.* Proper position means your right arm will be closer to your torso than your left, your shoulders will be in line with the target line and your right shoulder will be lower than the left.* Avoid turning your hips too much, limit the movement. If you have too much movement the club will go too far inside and loop over the top.* Move into your forward swing with a leg thrust to the left.

The Basic Guide To Choosing Golf Clubs

The Basic Guide To Choosing Golf Clubs

Choosing a decent set of golf clubs is a very important part of maturing in the game. Therefore you should consider many different things when buying the clubs. If you have no previous experience with the selection and purchase of golf clubs, you should be glad that you have stumbled across this article. You will find out some of the most helpful advice when buying clubs, as well as general helpful information that any golfer should know. If you are very thorough in your search for the right golf clubs, you will be glad that you took the extra time and research to find out the information needed to make that choice.

Firstly you should familiarize yourself with the types of golf clubs that you need. There are 14 clubs total for each set, but they can all be categorized in the following: irons, woods, and putters. Irons are the ones that are used for very distance specific golfing work, and the distance is determined by the size and weight of the head. You are provably most familiar with these from using them on the golf course. Woods are used to achieve very large distances with a slightly lower accuracy level than irons. You will have to hit a ball a few times with a wood to get an idea of how far it will go with your stroke. Putters are used for shorter strokes, and strokes that require a higher level of accuracy than the other clubs can provide. In order for your golf club collection to be complete (or even functional within the golf game), you will need to have at least one of each of these.

If you are just getting started with golfing, then you probably won’t want to buy a full golf set. It is a better idea to buy adjustable clubs that can change into different types. You may be able to change the 14 clubs into just 5 or 6. This not only means less to carry, but also that you will be able to tweak your clubs to perfection after you purchase them. This is the best way to get a feel for your needs when it comes to the specific statistics of the club. Once you have pretty much decided on certain settings, you may decide to buy golf clubs that are permanently set like that. Until then, you should be perfectly fine with adjustable clubs, especially since you are a beginner.

Graphite is something that many golfers are split on. The advocates of graphite say that it is lighter, easier to swing, and allow for more powerful strokes because of this. However, there are many who disagree with graphite and will remain steel golfers for life. They maintain that graphite clubs are unnecessarily expensive, without giving noticeable benefits. Some prefer the stiffness of steel over the comparatively flexible graphite clubs. If you have a fast stroke or you prefer to have some weight in your club, you will be fine sticking with steel clubs. After all, there’s nothing better than really having a heavy club that you can feel the momentum in when you swing.

Until you are an advanced golfer, you won’t have to worry about things like spin and head weight. The best thing you can do as a beginner is to familiarize yourself with all aspects of the game, and become very skilled with the equipment that you already have. Doing this will allow you to make smart choices for the future, and therefore constantly improve your golf game. Until then, just stick with what you have and master it. You will be glad in the future when you have not wasted huge amounts of money on equipment that is far more fancy and technical than you could possibly need. This is something that many golfers regret, and something that you can avoid.

How to Fix Your Slice – Part 1

How to Fix Your Slice – Part 1

A golf slice can be devastating and very frustrating to a golfer. There are many factors that could cause you to slice the ball. If you find you slice the ball quite often then you will need to fix it.

If you want to improve your overall game and add distance to your shots. Imagine how far the ball would go if you could just straighten out your shot.

A golf slice occurs when your club is open upon impact of the club and relative to the path of the club head.

A wayward left hand is one of the common factors that can cause you to slice the ball far to the right. This happens more often than you would think. When a wayward left hand occurs the back of your left hand will be aligned to the right of the ball and the clubface will be open. This will cause a slice to happen.

If you want to repair a wayward left hand it is important to focus on the back of your hand. The back of your hand should be facing the target at impact. You should at least feel that the back of your hand is facing your target. This will allow you to have a strong grip for the shot so your hand doesn’t slip.

It is important to square your left hand. One of the best ways to do this is by practicing without using a club at all. You will stand with your right arm to the side of your body and rotate your left forearm. Then you will cock your left wrist and swing back. In order to be sure your hand is square practice your swing repeatedly without your club in your hand.

TaylorMade Burner XD Iron Set With Fantastic Distance

TaylorMade Burner XD Iron Set With Fantastic Distance

Article by Golfdiscountsale2

The Burner XD irons feature a stainless steel body for added perimeter weighting with a Titanium face welded to this frame. What you get is not only a hot face, but given the lightweight Titanium, extra mass around the club face to be moved low and away to create a hot, high launch ball flight. The TaylorMade Burner XD irons are the only irons with Burner speed, Burner power and Burner distance. Targeted at distance fanatics, the Taylormade Burner XD irons deliver up to eight more yards when compared to the average iron, thanks in part to their thin and flexible titanium faces.Features: 1. Thin, flexible and fast titanium clubfaces deliver higher COR (coefficient of restitution) for faster ball speed and therefore, longer distance. 2. SuperFast technology provides more clubhead speed for more ball speed and more distance. 3. Inverted Cone Technology is proven driver technology that expands the high COR zone for higher ball speed on mis-hits for more distance from shot to shot. 4. Extra large clubhead and a deep cavity give the Burner XD irons an ultra-high MOI (moment of inertia), making them extremely forgiveable and easy-to-hit.TaylorMade has packed a lot of that technology into the Burner XD irons. The company calls the Burner XD “The Only Iron with Burner Speed, Burner Power, and Burner Distance.””Super” is a description that is near and dear to the Burner marketing folks. The Burner XD irons feature “Supersized” clubheads and “SuperFast Technology.” The first helps make them forgiving and the second is all about distance. The R7 CGB Max and Burner XD irons have the same offset across the board. Visually, it almost looks as if the Callaway X-20s have a tad more offset in the 7 iron at least, but that may just be an optical illusion kind of thing going on. If you have a problem with slicing the ball, not being able to turn it over, the offset should help straighten things out for you, especially in the longer irons. If you’re accustomed to playing with little to no offset, you may pull and/or hook the ball a bit, until you can adjust to it. Not a huge deal. The first ball I hit with these irons was a 145 yard PW that just seemed to fly forever. (PING G15 Driver) Normally I hit my PW about 135..in the summer. It’s a little colder now, the ball doesn’t fly quite as well. I put a decent swing on the club, certainly nothing perfect, the ball rocketed off the face, pretty high, landed around 145. Crazy. Now, that being said, the lofts on the Burner XD irons are jacked up a bit. At 44*, you’re almost playing a 9 iron that has been labeled a PW. (Ping G15 Hybrid) The ball did still get way up there though, and stopped very quickly. I liked the more upright lie angle, this helps prevent the toe from digging in and hitting shots out to the right for the average player. The trajectory was a little lower than I would have expected for all the weight placed behind the ball, but it was manageable. I found that working the ball was not an option unless your idea of working it is to hit a head high duck hook!Suffice it to say, I was consistently hitting these irons what I’d call “summer distance,” though almost all of my rounds with these were in cooler temperatures. I felt pretty safe playing these to go five to 10 yards farther than a good shot with my irons. All in all, the Burner XDs do what they are supposed to do. They launch the ball on a mid to high trajectory, and they are pretty long as irons go. But really the best thing about the Burner irons is that you can make less than stellar contact all day long, and it won’t hurt you too badly. If these had a more solid feel to them, they’d probably sell a ton of them.More information at http://www.mygolfcheap.com/cheap-TaylorMade-Burner-XD-Iron-Set-906.html

Tips On Buying Golf Equiment

Tips On Buying Golf Equiment

Buying new golf equipment could be expensive but there are great deals available on all clubs when buying online or in golf shops. Most golfers assume that the best deals for the equipments would be found online or in golf shops, but that’s not always the case. Many local golf shops at golf clubs have great deals on irons, drivers and putters and a golfer can generally try them before he plans to buy.

There is normally a second hand section at the local golf shop where the customers are encouraged to hit the irons or drivers on the range. If a golfer finds a club he likes, but the price is too expensive, then he could always look up to the club online to find it cheaper.

Buying golf clubs online

Most current models of golf drivers and irons are nearly as expensive online as they would be if purchased at a local golf store. However, last year’s model could be cheaper for both ladies and men.
Last year’s model is often offered to buying groups or online stores by golf manufacturers before current models are available. The prices are reduced, as these models are often bought in bulk.
Buying last year’s Golf Clubs can save much more money as there is not much of physical difference between the new and old models.
If a golfer needs specially customized clubs, adjusting with his height, then he can find it in the second hand section.
Customized clubs do not have the same second hand trade in value as standard clubs so great deals could often be found on second hand flat sets of irons.

Buying cheap golf drivers

Buying irons online for golf training program is easier than buying a driver. A golfer could easily adapt to the design of a new set of irons but the driver should accurately match the golfer’s swing.
The key is in the loft and shaft of the driver. Buying a driver with too little loft and wrong shaft, even with the best price available will be of very little use.
A golfer should know the loft of a driver that suits his swing and therefore it is important to try different drivers before buying online.

There are many advantages of buying the equipments for golf online as there are some best deals on offer.

In Order To Achieve The Most Distance In Your Swing You Need A Proper Golfing Grip

In Order To Achieve The Most Distance In Your Swing You Need A Proper Golfing Grip

Article by John Higbie

Learning the basics of a golf swing often starts with mastering the golfing grip. At least, that’s what player Ben Hogan thinks. Unlike the grip used in other sports like baseball, the grip used to play golf is unique. You cannot develop a great swing without first having a proper golfing grip, and this will surely cause your game performance to suffer. Your hands should be the only part of your body to ever have contact with the club. It should become an extension of yourself and if it does not, your entire swing will suffer as your body tries to compensate for a poor grip.

There are a number of different grips that exist and are used to excellent effect by professional golfers. Most commonly, there are three grips to focus on. The most popular grip is called the “Vardon Grip”, but it also goes by the name “overlapping grip” for the way the hands overlap one another. This grip has the pinky of the right hand overlapping the left hand between the index and middle finger for a right handed golfer. This grip works well for the vast majority of players regardless of the length of their fingers or the strength of their hands.

The next golfing grip is called the interlocking grip. This grip requires the player to interlock his hands at the right pinky and left forefinger (If he his right handed). This is most popular Continue reading “In Order To Achieve The Most Distance In Your Swing You Need A Proper Golfing Grip”
