Your conscious mind is amazingly capable of handling the demands of such things as the mechanics of your golf swing. On average the golf swing is said to be completed in less than 2 seconds. During that time, how many thoughts do you really think you can process and communicate to your body what to do next? Your mind must filter on average about two seconds of the full mechanics of your golf swing. This is simply an impossible task to ask of your mind and body. You’re not wired that way, no one is. Swinging the golf club is not about getting the club and body into certain positions, it’s about swinging the golf club. That’s it!

One of the most important processes in a golf shot is visualizing the golf shot. For many, this seems difficult or they don’t believe they can do it. Visualization is like programming a computer to perform a task. In this case, the computer is your subconscious mind and the most efficient programming language for this computer is imagery.

One of the essential things that will affect all three of the golf swing components is your grip. Many golfers feel tension when they address the ball and get ready to execute their golf swing and this results in a tight grip on the club and stiffness in their arms. After the first swing that did not go as they wished it would, the tension builds and starts a vicious cycle that will affect the rest of their swings.

The first thing you can do to help develop a proper golf swing is to relax. Take a deep breath, let it out slowly, and visualize the result of your swing – the ball screaming down the course.

Next, take a firm but not tight grip on the club and think about the golf swing sequence.
The backswing – draw your club back in a smooth arch until the knuckle of your thumb is above your right ear. As you draw back, the club head will trace out a large circle and at the top of your backswing your chest will be pointing away from your target.

The follow through – your body continues and completes the swing arc after contacting the ball. Your finish position is part of your golf swing, so do not stop abruptly and try to keep your motion fluid.

When you start your backswing, take a deep breath as you draw back and release it slowly as you start your downswing. Holding your breath will create stiffness in the upper body that will affect the fluid motion you are trying to develop in your golf swing.

Here are some tips to remember while visualizing your golf swing:

– Keep your left elbow straight during the backswing as the club goes straight up and back.
– Let your left arm roll slightly clockwise at the start of your downswing.
– Your wrists should be at a 90-degree angle when your left arm is parallel to the ground.
– Start your downswing with your lower body, NOT your shoulders.
– As you bring the club down, turn your hips as fast and powerful as you can towards the target.
– At the bottom of the swing arc, your wrists should snap and you will start the follow through.
– Your right arm will swing across your body and end up near your left shoulder.
– Your shoulders will be perpendicular to the target.

At the completion of the follow through portion of your golf swing, your weight should be balanced on your front hip and your back toe should be on the ground. Your hands will come to rest above your left shoulder and with your left knee facing the hole.
Now, going back to the original question What is a proper golf swing? First off there is no simple golf swing as many people try to believe. People who have never played golf will tell you that hitting the golf ball is easy. Just take a club and hit the ball as hard as you can. However, as any golfer will tell you it is never that easy because there are quite a lot of variables and small nuances that go into developing a good golf swing. Therefore, a proper golf swing is one that you can execute repeatedly, and feel good about the results.

To develop your own golf swing, it will take practice and training both on and off the golf course. Take some time to build your body off the course through a golf specific fitness training and conditioning program, and then get onto the course to develop your own proper swing by practicing the fundamentals of golf until they are second nature. The good news is they can, and once you know how to create the exact ball flight you need for the shot at hand, you have many more weapons at your disposal to put the ball where you want it. The better news is it only requires small variations of the your regular full golf swing to create these shots.

These are the nine different ball flights you would want to know how to create;

Straight with normal trajectory, this is the shot you want to use if there is no trouble to avoid, you just need the ball in the middle of the fairway. Straight with higher than normal trajectory, this shot could be used if you had some obstacle, such as a tree you wanted to go over.
Straight with lower than normal trajectory, maybe you need to stay under some branches, or you want to keep it lower going into the wind.
slight movement to the right, highly skilled players who use this shot can control how much it moves to the right. Possibly the pin is on the right side of the green, you might want the ball to start at the middle of the green, but work to the right.
A fade with a high flight, might be used if that right pin placement is behind a front trap.

I have to admit something. I used to LOVE coffee. I had a cup every single morning after my exercise with a “splash” of half and half and a couple tablespoons of sugar. I could not even imagine starting my day without my little cup of energy.

That was about two years ago. Now, I can’t stand the stuff. The smell alone makes me want to hurl. The fragrance is so strong and bitter. Yuck. I’ll just stick to water, thank you.

So what changed? How was I able to kick my coffee habit over two years ago? Why is just the smell of coffee so aggravating to me now?

When I was much younger, I hated everything about coffee. The aroma, the look of it, the few sips I had tasted. I felt the same way about coffee as a child that I do today.

As I got older, I started having a cup in the morning. I still hated it at first, but it just seemed like something people did. Every adult I knew got up in the morning and fixed themselves a cup of coffee. My Mom drank coffee all throughout the day!

The Effects of Coffee

You see, coffee has two effects: a short term effect and a long term effect. The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant and consuming it causes your body to work overtime trying to neutralize it. Your body’s sudden state of frenzy causes you to feel energized and awake for a short period of time. This is the short term effect.

Once these effects have worn off, the body returns (or “comes down”) to its original condition. You now feel sluggish and tired again. This is the long term effect of drinking coffee.

Many people only notice the short term effect. While virtually everyone experiences the “drop off” later in the day (I know I did), they do not associate this with the coffee. In fact, I’m sure many of you attempt to solve the problem by having more coffee!

How to Cure Your Coffee Addiction

The best way to stop drinking coffee is to STOP DRINKING COFFEE! If you continue to drink the stuff, you will continue to be dependent upon it.

Personally, I went completely cold turkey from my one cup a day. I had a couple of slight headaches for a few days, but that was the extent of my detox. After a couple of weeks, I felt much better and no longer longed for coffee. After two short months, I could not imagine drinking coffee at all.

If you drink numerous cups of coffee each day, it might be best to gradually reduce how much you drink. An easy way to do this is to replace each cup with caffeine-free tea. If you choose, you can keep going by replacing the tea with just warm or cold lemon water.

Either way you choose, your goal should be to completely eliminate coffee from your diet. It provides no nutritional value and has no place in a healthy lifestyle.

My hope is that one day coffee drinking will be a thing of the past and people will rely on good ole exercise and nutrition to energize themselves for the day.

Most amateur golfers are in envy of the professional players. I know that I am. You seen them swinging just like you do but they can hit the ball over 300 yards, get the ball to spin back to the hole and get out of bunkers the first time without digging themselves a big sand pit, whilst you are always looking for ways to lower your golf score.

As I said before I’m just an amateur golfer but here are some of the tips that I have used to improve my game.

Practice regularly

Now I know that this may be obvious, but people who play golf expect to play just as good as they did in their last round. When you have not practiced between rounds you can lose they rhythm which you had and have to start again when you start another round.

Don’t try and hit the ball too hard,

A nice steady easy swing can hit the ball just as far, just because it works for some of the pro’s it might not work for you and if you try to hit the ball too hard you can go off balance.

If you find that you are slicing the ball, pull you left foot slightly back. (only try this in practice as this could effect your round if you do not need to change) If you find that you are hooking the ball, your right hand may be too far round on your grip, forcing your hands to roll over at the end of your swing. Putting, always always practice your putting. This can take up to double figures off your round and is one of the top ways to lower your golf scor, by stopping you 3 and maybe 4 putting on the greens.

Or alternatively you could have lessons which I did and they made me worse. I would struggle to get the ball past the peak of my cap never mind splitting the fair way in half which is what the instructor said I would. Now this may not be the same for everyone, but not everyone can afford golf lessons.

improve your fitness

In the game of golf you use muscles which are not always used in every day activities so these can damage your round This aspect is very important as your swing can deteriorate as your round goes on if you start to tire. If your legs,back or arms start to ache you are not going to achieve the maximum power and acuracy from your swing. Before your round you need to stretch properly and warm up before each round. If you start a round cold you could pull or over stretch which could stop you playing until you have healed properly.

Topwater Lures For Bass

After your lure hits the water’s surface can be one of the most exciting moments in fishing. You can almost feel the bass eying your lure as the ripples subside. The anticipation builds, knowing the surface can erupt at any second with a vicious strike.

 

Calm summer evenings and mornings when bass are in the shallows feeding are the best times to use surface, or topwater, lures. Rough water or water temperature below 60 degrees Fahrenheit will greatly diminish the effectiveness of topwater lures.

 

When fishing thick vegetation mats, topwater lures may be the only effective solution. Bass may be attracted to these lures even though they can’t see them. Bass in vegetation can be caught even in the middle of the day with topwater lures.

 

Topwater lures can work especially well at night. The vibration and noise of surface lures can bring bass in from quite a distance. Once near the presentation, the lure’s silhouette can then be seen, especially on a moonlit night.

 

There are several types of top water lures. Some of these are;

 

Poppers and Chuggers , which make popping or gurgling sounds during the retrieve. This is due to a concave face on the lure. Rubber and plastic skirts come standard on most models. These lures are most effective when using a twitch and pause retrieve.

 

Propeller-Type Plugs, have a small propeller on one or both ends of their long, thin bodies. These can be retrieved in a slow and steady manner, or by the twitch and pause method. Another technique is a quick retrieve, which will churn the water and cause a wake. Always make sure the propellers spin freely before using.

 

Buzz Baits, are similar to spinnerbaits, but instead of spinning on a swivel, the blade revolves around a shaft. Turbulence is generated by a large aluminum blade as the lure is retrieved rapidly across the surface of the water. Tandem blades are available on some models.

 

Stickbaits, look like propeller-type plugs without the propeller. They are available in different lengths. These lures are used by twitching them slowly across the surface to mimic an injured baitfish.

 

Artificial Frogs, are usually made from soft plastic or buoyant rubber with legs that will wiggle enticingly. They are available in many colors and are usually weedless. This makes them ideal baits to fish on and around thick vegetation.

 

Sometimes bass will follow a topwater lure and not strike. To help entice a strike, stop the retrieve and let the lure sit for several seconds. The next twitch may result in an explosive strike. There are also times when bass will gently slurp a lure instead of slamming it. Always watch the lure and set the hook after any strike.

 

Any of these topwater lures can help to catch fish. By using some of the described techniques above, hopefully your fishing trip will be more successful.
