Let your left arm bend during your follow-through. Swing a few times only with your left hand, then immediately do a normal swing.

2. A second thing that can cause slicing is because you are letting your club get too far behind you on the backswing, which makes you get outside your target line on your downswing. Without a club, try swinging your left arm, mimicking a full swing.

Your arm has to cross your chest and meet up with your right shoulder. On the downswing, try replicating that motion exactly, only backwards.

3. What the slice boils down to in reality is simply a lack of squaring the club with the ball. So you need a great finish to square the club with the ball correctly. A good drill to try is to take an 8-iron and tee up.

Swing it back to waist height, cock the club up, and then pull towards your left. You should be aiming to hit the ball about 50 yards. Be sure to make your chest and belt buckle face your target.

4. But what if your problem is a bit worse than above? You are hitting big banana slices. You must square the club to the ball earlier. What you should do is draw a yard long straight line in the sand in a bunker.

Take a 5 iron or 6 iron and swing the club above the line. Try to get your divot to start at the line and go forward. Keep trying until you can hit at least 10 shots in a row that start at the line.

5. Often one’s slice can be eliminated, only to come back stronger than ever. Don’t worry; there are tips for this too. Head on over to the driving range. There you can find hills that place the ball slightly above your feet.

With a strong left-handed grip, start hitting balls on this hook lie. This naturally straightens out your swing. Just keep the same grip as you hit balls on a flat surface. Now you can kiss your slice goodbye.

I am a member of golf’s lower 99.  I am an indifferent golfer, and there’s no way I could ever make it to the professional level.  I will never put in the practice time to be the best  I will never have the shots, skills, or mental toughness to “make it” in the sport.  I just never felt like working all that hard at it.

The top 1% should pay for my club memberships and green fees and lessons, buy me new clubs, balls, clothes and shoes, and pay me some of their winnings.  They can afford it.  They are “The Rich.”  The whole system should be changed to accommodate people like me.  I think we should get together and occupy a golf course and demand that those who are better at what they do, pay for us who generally suck.

Whining should get us something – maybe we’ll make the cover of Time Magazine, garnish some public sympathy.  Hell, during this election year, we may even get a law or two passed by legislators who want our votes.

Putting Drills

Developing putting drills that work is one of the fastest ways to lower your score. Many golfers lose a significant number of strokes once they get onto the green. By utilizing putting drills, you can learn to get the ball into the hole in fewer strokes.

Any seasoned golfer will tell you that the short game can be stroke-hungry, and that what happens on the green can wreak havoc on an otherwise good score. 3-putts, 4-putts, and even 5-putts are more common than you might think—but there is good news. Putting drills can dramatically help golfers hone their skills on the green, resulting in fewer total strokes.

When it comes to putting drills, spend time concentrating on the three essentials:

Keeping the face square

Maintaining a smooth swing

Achieving distance control

If you are in the habit of hitting the ball with your blade open or closed, try this:

Keep your arms moving in a pendulum fashion and keep your hands still.

Achieving distance control

One of the most crucial putting drills is learning distance control. The only way to master distance control is through your own touch or feel. Nothing else can replace hands-on practice time when it comes to honing your skills on the green.

There are dozens of practice exercises for distance control, but one of the best is to simply stake out five tees, four feet apart, with the last tee being 20 feet away. Then, concentrate on getting the ball to each of the tees consistently.

If the ball rolls a few inches past the tee, that’s fine. What you don’t want to see is the ball stopping short of or rolling well beyond the target tee.

Notice that you are not aiming at a flag or a cup with this exercise, as this could distract you and cause you to focus more on accuracy than distance. While it’s true that distance and accuracy must work together, there are times when they should not be learned together.

I don’t know when the golfers are playing the golf which way they choose. I guess not all the golfers take a correct way to play it.
