Not Slicing the Golf Ball Takes Careful Understanding

In order to slice a golf ball (impart a left to right ball flight for a right handed golfer) you have to strike the golf ball in a manner that will cause a clockwise rotation of the ball. The more dramatic the rotation the more dramatic or worse the golf slice.

For the context of this article, I will speak from a right handed golfer’s swing and perspective.

When defining the golf slice there are a couple of basics characteristics to the ball flight. First, there is the slice that initially may start down the target line then move off line in a left to right movement. This type of slice tells us that the swing path was traveling down the intended target line, but at impact the club face was left open and did not get back to a square position at impact. Usually this type of golf slice doesn’t produce as sever of left to right movement of the golf ball since the swing path itself was not cutting across the ball in an outside to inside manner. This type of slicing of the golf ball is more easily cured. And can usually be done so with a bit of work on the golfer’s setup, alignment, and or grip.

The second type of golf slice is the one that plagues the vast majority of beginning and high handicap golfer’s. This is the type of slice that produces the ‘banana ball’ type of flight and is very uncontrollable and frustrating.

The attributes of this type of slice for the golfer are the ball will initially start left of the target line indicating that the swing path is incorrect right from the get go. When the ball immediately begins left of the target line that tells you that your swing path has come from the outside to the inside.

Now, having done that with your swing, doesn’t necessarily guarantee that you are going to slice the golf ball but you sure have made much easier for a slice to occur. Now combine the outside to inside swing path with an open clubface at impact and you now have a golf shot that starts left and has the double whammy of a slicing swing path across the golf ball, and an open club face. With these two laws of physics going for you; you have just produced one beautiful slice. One that only a proud parent could love! You know the one I’m talking about. The ball that travels 300 yards total distance, but only about 220 yards further down the course (if you can find it all).

A golfer who is plagued with this type of golf slice is going to require quite a bit more work in order to correct this because their basic swing is flawed and must be corrected. But, it’s important to understand what it is in your golf swing and your golf swing mechanics that makes the ball do what it does. Once you understand the 9 rules of ball flight you’ll be more able to understand what it is in your swing that is producing the flight of the ball you are seeing, and as such you can more quickly address and adjust to ensure success.

Golf ? Improve Your Golf Slice Today

A lot of people are constantly trying to look for the ways to improve their golf slice. I’ve been surfing on the World Wide Web for the same purpose however; I could not find anything helpful. So, finally I decided that I am going to write something for all those people who have the same slice problem. So here are some of the most effective tips which will help you vitally in improving the golf slice within a few hours.

The first and the foremost thing that you need to keep in mind is the stance that you will be taking for the perfect shot. Here you also need to take care about your grip. The best grip will be the one with the minimal pressure so that you can swing your wrists in the perfect way. One more thing that you need to concentrate on is the posture that you will need to have the perfect shot. Once you have done everything in the above step, the next thing that you need to take care of is your take away. Take away means that once you engage yourself in a swing, your whole body should move back together. This is known as the one piece take away that involves the shoulders, hips and the rest of the body to move back at the same time. Last but not the least thing that you keep in mind that once you initiate your swing, your shoulders must move in a complete proper turn. If you are unable to do that it will create a reverse pivot hence making it very difficult for you to play your shots in the most effective manner.

The above are all the most effective tips that you can work on if you really want to get rid of the awful slice of yours. If you need more tips on how to fix golf slice then you need more information and a course that will help you step by step.

How To Correct Your Golf Slice

Golf can be a frustrating game. Today we’re going to analyze one of the most frustrating parts of the game: The golf slice. We’ll also show you how you can correct your golf slice.

What’s happening:

Golfers are slamming their clubs on the ground, uttering four-letter words and having a miserable time on the tee-box! Why? Because they are slicing the ball! If this is happening to you, you aren’t alone. Golf slices are a big problem for most golfers.

What is a slice?

A slice occurs when you hit a shot, and it spins off to the right. (to the left for lefties). This often occurs when the club face is open, and the path of the golf club comes from the wrong angle. This usually happens when your club is on an outside-to-inside path as the club nears the ball. If your clubface is open while on that outside-to-inside path, the slice can be extreme!

How to correct your golf slice

It’s one thing to know what is happening. How are you going to fix it?

We have a few quick tests that will help you correct your golf slice.

1. The Rope Test – when your hands are at the top of your backswing, imagine that you are holding a rope that is attached to a tree straight in front of you. Now your object is to pull the rope straight down. As you begin the downswing, you want that same straight down motion. This will force your right elbow to stay close to your body, and prevent you from going “outside-in” with your swing motion.

2. The Box test – Get a long, skinny box, and lay it on the ground. You will be hitting the end of the box with your driver. Your goal is to make the box go straight in front of you. If you hit the end of the box and it goes to the right or the left, than your swing is off. This is a good way to test new enhancements to your swing if you can’t make it to the driving range.

3. The Tennis test – If you’ve ever tried to put topspin on a tennis ball, you know that you have to turn over the racket as you hit the ball. This same rolling of the wrists needs to happen when you hit a golf ball. As you are impacting the ball, make sure that your right hand ends up on top of your left hand. Just as you want that to happen in tennis to get topspin, your goal in striking a golf shot is to roll the hands. When you roll the hands over properly, you can be sure that you are closing the face of the club, when will severely decrease the likelihood of a slice.

Hopefully these tests gleaned from years of experience by golf professionals, can help you to correct your golf slice.

I have a number of additional tips that can significantly improve your game. Many people have found these to be extremely helpful in getting rid of the dreaded slice, so please check them out below!

A common golf swing fault is to “slice” the golf ball. For right handed golfers, a golf slice occurs when the golf ball starts left of the target once struck, but finishes well right of the target. The golf slice is one of the worse swing faults encountered on the course because it often results in a very poor position to hit the next shot and because there are many causes to the golf slice. Common causes of the golf slice include an open clubface at impact, too “weak” of a golf grip, poor body weight transfer and/or an out-to-in or “over the top” swing.

To fix the golf slice, the golfer should first ensure that he or she is properly aligned toward the target with hips, shoulders and feet all square to the target line. Second, the golfer should ensure that the swing path taken is more in-to-out or in-to-square-to –in rather than out-in. Third, the golfer should ensure a neutral golf grip position and a square clubface at impact.

Practice Drills to Fix the Golf Slice

To fix the golf slice, top PGA teaching professionals recommend practice drills that help incorporate the proper golf swing mechanics into the golf swing and ingrain the correct “feeling” of a well-executed golf shot. Here are several of the most popular practice drills to fix the golf slice.

SLICE TEE DRILL

Corrects slices caused by OUT-IN swings and encourages proper IN-SQUARE-IN swing path.

• Place two tees and ball right to left diagonally, creating an IN-SQUARE-IN swing path. Allow about 4″x 4″ spacing from each tee to ball.

• Assume normal setup and ball position with 7-iron.

• Hit ball crisply without hitting tees.

BACK TO TARGET DRILL

Encourages IN-SQUARE-IN swing path and club release.

• Perform drill half-speed with 7-iron and teed ball.

• Select target and assume normal setup.

• Leaving arms in position and club face square to target, rotate feet 45° with back directed toward target.

• Swing along body line and hit 5 to 10 shots.

To quickly get rid of your golf slice, incorporate both of these drills into your practice routine whenever a golf slice creeps into your game.

Improve your golf slice with golf genie’s golf guides. If you are serious about golf and looking for golf training aids its right time to hit the golf ball in the golf course.

How to Fix Your Slice – Part 1

A golf slice can be devastating and very frustrating to a golfer. There are many factors that could cause you to slice the ball. If you find you slice the ball quite often then you will need to fix it.

If you want to improve your overall game and add distance to your shots. Imagine how far the ball would go if you could just straighten out your shot.

A golf slice occurs when your club is open upon impact of the club and relative to the path of the club head.

A wayward left hand is one of the common factors that can cause you to slice the ball far to the right. This happens more often than you would think. When a wayward left hand occurs the back of your left hand will be aligned to the right of the ball and the clubface will be open. This will cause a slice to happen.

If you want to repair a wayward left hand it is important to focus on the back of your hand. The back of your hand should be facing the target at impact. You should at least feel that the back of your hand is facing your target. This will allow you to have a strong grip for the shot so your hand doesn’t slip.

It is important to square your left hand. One of the best ways to do this is by practicing without using a club at all. You will stand with your right arm to the side of your body and rotate your left forearm. Then you will cock your left wrist and swing back. In order to be sure your hand is square practice your swing repeatedly without your club in your hand.

Scott Wells invites you to read http://tobeinformed.com/633/ – to understand more about gum disease. Something that golfers and non-golfers alike should be aware of.

Stop! It is significant to keep in mind. Keep it firmly enough so that you are in control, however loosely enough that somebody can tug it away from your hands.

Build Square

At address, your shoulders, hips, knees, and feet should be parallel to the goal line (the imaginary line from the golf ball to your goal). During exercise, place a PING G15 Fairway Wood across your toes and the other key spots to check for appropriate alignment.

Strengthen Your Golf Grip

Many golf players who slice have got weak hands or a weak grip. In either situation, the hands do not roll over at result, therefore the clubface is open (pointing right) when it matches the golf ball.

Hands Ahead

A lot of slicers begin with the hands right behind the golf ball. At address the left hand need to be ahead of the golf ball therefore a straight line might run down the left arm, through the hands, to the golf ball.

Head Behind

In case your head is not behind the golf ball at address, possibilities are you are not shifting your weight appropriately in the backswing. Motivate the headback location by swiveling your chin to the right just before beginning the golf swing.

Fix Your Golf Slice Now

The single most difficult thing for amateur golfers to fix is your golf slice. Recent polls have concluded that over 85% of amateur golfers struggle from a slice. Every imaginable book, lessons, training gizmos and tips are available for fixing the terrible golf slice.

I have one thing to ask you. How many instruction, training aids, and other tricks have you used or bought to get rid of your golf slice? Now, for another question. Have any of them worked? Have you finally reached the end of your rope? Tennis anyone? Are you still clueless as to fixing your slice?

A golf slice occurs when the face of the club hits the ball from an angle outside the target line. This makes for the golf ball to rotate with a sideways spin. I’m just guessing here, but I would be willing to bet any teacher you’ve had was informing you this is a problem of swing mechanics. Well, that is only in some measure true. There is a physical feature to a golf swing a large amount of teachers aren’t aware of or they are simply too lazy to take the time to explain to a student.

Your swing mechanics will be determined by how well your body will allow you to swing the club. let me explain. All of us have certain ‘handicaps’ that can keep us from making a sound golf swing. These will lead to swing blunders.

Because most us aren’t professional athletes are bodies try to make up for our misgivings when we swing the golf club. This becomes more apparent with age or injury. The model backswing involves a ninety degree shoulder turn. Not many weekend hackers can pull this off, so are bodies compensate in an attempt to feel like we are.

One of the common adjustments are body naturally makes is to over rotate the hips. This is bad for so many reasons. It often yanks our head off the ball, pulls our club out of the normal swing plane, has a penchant to roll your back foot over, and produces power loss in your swing. The power in a golf swing is exactly proportional to the torque you generate, and this begins at your core.

Now the most important factor in a golf slice is that your torso gets ahead of the lower body. This results in your club face slashing across the ball and creating side-spin as mentioned earlier. While your slice can be discouraging it can lead to a lovely stroll in the woods and some lost ball hunting in the meadow.

Depending on how desperate you are and how serious your golf slice is you are most likely to do one of the following:

See a PGA teaching pro to take a lesson from

Purchase one of the many ‘so called’ aids on the market

Invest in a driver designed to compensate for your slice

Do you fall into one or more of these categories? Do you still set up your drives adjusting for a slice?

Am I hitting the nail on the head?

If you really want to get rid of your golf slice adhere to this recommendation. Stop purchasing all the training aids that promise to have you swinging like Tiger in a week. Stop spending your hard earned cash on lessons. And why buy a driver that compensates for your swing on just one club but does not help to fix your golf swing for all the clubs in your bag?

Well, I have a simple solution for you. What you have to concentrate on is improving your flexibility during the swing rotation. This will let you to start your downswing with the lower body, clearing your front hip to allow your upper body to come through with the proper swing plane. It is nothing more complicated than taking a club in your hands and working on that flexibility. It’s as easy as getting separation between your upper and lower body when starting your downswing. By moving your lower body through the ball first you add more power and avoid swiping the ball which creates the slice.

Doesn’t that make sense?

By applying some sensible golf exercises to increase your flexibility you will see a general improvement in your total golf game. You will hit straighter and improve distance. When your club face strikes the ball at the proper angle it will induce topspin and more roll from your drive. If your ball has been hit improperly and is spinning in clockwise motion it will not achieve that straight and long drive you are looking for.

You can find a variety of golf exercise programs and books online. If you choose to purchase one of these products be certain it stresses flexibility and core strengthening exercises. It won’t be long before you see significant progress in the direction and length of your drives using these simple techniques.

Forget all the costly lessons, aids, and clubs and use the one tool we were born with, your own body. So don’t wait any longer. Now is the time to fix your golf slice.

Eradicate the Golf Slice – the Major Key You Must Follow To Cure a Slice

The golf slice is just about the most annoying issues to deal with for some golfers, but should the causes of why the golf ball slices are clearly understood, the solution is not so difficult. But before we provide the actions to cure that slice, take several deep breaths and SLOW DOWN your swing. Almost everything will fall into place if you think three-quarter speed.

The most crucial key that we will contend with to take care of the golf slice is correct swing path. As your golf swing is circular, that is, the club head begins behind our head, swings about the body and ends up behind our head, it may look like it is physically impossible to not spin the ball. But at the point of contact don’t think circular. Allow me to explain.

While looking down on the ball, consider the ball moving in flight. For the right handed golfer, if the ball is rotating in a clockwise way the ball will slice, or move in the direction toward which the ball is revolving. Obviously, for the left handed golfer the opposite holds. The goal to correct the golf slice would be to eliminate this spin.

How can we accomplish this? If, by looking down on the golf ball, we were to imagine it as being a clock with twelve o’clock being the direction we’d like the ball to go, if we were to produce first contact on the golf ball at seven o’clock striking through the ball to the one o’clock position, we’d impart little spin on the ball, thus giving the ball a straight flight, or perhaps a slight counter clockwise, or hook spin.

Now undoubtedly this wouldn’t be challenging if not for the fact that we are swinging, to some degree, around the body in to some extent a circular motion. So just before impact and just after, we should think about the club having a nearly inside out route. This isn’t as difficult as it seems. To correct the golf slice, practice undertaking a couple of elements to accomplish this:

1.Close the foot placement somewhat. In other words, make sure the front foot is a bit closer to the golf ball in comparison to back foot.

2.Position the ball further back in your stance. Some of us have the tendency to move the ball forward, often even past our front foot, making it extremely difficult to reach that “one o’clock” place on the golf ball. Consistently sticking with those two swing keys will work wonders for the fix the golf slice. Of course some practice to fine-tune those techniques for your swing will be necessary.
